We’ve learned more about the man who entered the Family Research Council office in Washington Wednesday and opened fire, wounding a guard before he was stopped. He was reportedly a gay rights activist and public school teacher who told the people who tackled him, “Don't shoot me, it was not about you, it was what this place stands for.” What the FRC stands for is traditional moral values, like those held by most Americans since the nation’s founding. But just because one of them is the belief that marriage is a holy union between one man and one woman, groups like the Southern Poverty Law Center have labeled them as an extremist “hate group.”
Let me be clear: this shooting is not the fault of same-sex marriage activists. It’s the fault of the nut with the gun in his hand. A coalition of 25 gay rights groups even did the right thing by condemning the violence and wishing a swift recovery to the victim. Still, if people of faith can find the self-restraint not to blame their critics for their follower’s evil actions, is it too much to ask those on the other side to stop poisoning public discourse by falsely accusing religious people of evil motives, like hate and intolerance, just because they hold a differing view on a single issue?
What are your thoughts? Please leave me a comment below. I read them!
I used to support the SPLC when they were about stopping the violence. But they crossed the line when they accused the FRC of being a hate group. I share traditional values and I support the FRC. They haven't committed violence against anyone. And they have the constitutional right to believe what they choose to believe. That is what these liberal left groups don't get.

As a Christiam myself I see many professed Christians not living the life that Jesus teaches in the Bible.
Unfortunately, to the media this is NEWS.
Only God knows whats in the heart.
The main message in the Bible is love and forgiveness.
I personally believe we are in the time of what the Bible calls the Last Days.
I as believe that mankind had it made in the Garden and after our original parents disobeyed God its been down hill ever since.
I see it like this if you put a snowball ontop of a very high snowcovered mountain and push the snowball down it gets bigger and bigger and that is evident everywhere you turn.
Inclosing, authentic beievers are experiencing persecution. We should be sharing the Gospel and not having to defend it.
The truth has not only set me free but and it has taught me that "in love" we are to win people over not try to grab them by the throat and try to force it in them. many also try to guilt people into becoming what they are like they are trying to make points. All one has to do to learn to live a life of peace love and forgivenss is follow the best example we have.m

“(When [the man possessed by a demon] saw Jesus, he cried out and fell down before him; in a loud voice he shouted, 'What have you to do with me, Jesus, son of the Most High God? I beg you, do not torment me!'” (Luke 8:28). This sounds similar to "Don't shoot me, it was not about you, it was what this place stands for." So, what does the Famiy Research Council stand for? In their own words, the FRC stands for advancing faith, family and freedom in public policy and the culture from a Christian worldview. Maybe while this man was surrendering to the people around him, the unclean spirit inside him was surrendering to Jesus. Hopefully, this man is reintroduced to the Holy Spirit while the unclean spirit is wandering the abyss. And how about the FFRF atheists who claimed to become physically ill seeing the statue of Jesus at Big Mountain, Montana? Doesn't this sound a lot like the same spirit that in Luke 9:39 possessed the boy who would suddenly make the boy scream and convulse until he foamed at the mouth, only releasing the boy with difficulty, wearing him out in the process? I'm just saying that the spiritual warfare is evident. Will it cease? I don't think so. Are we prepared? It depends on whether your heart and mind are open to the Holy Spirit to receive the truth. Keep praying.

I appreciate your integrity and the intelligent way in which you articulated the key to this ongoing conflict we are facing. One extreme follower doesn't reflect any group of people in our society! As Christians we must continue to love the people of this world whether or not we agree on their lifestyle. It is non productive too try to pressure anyone to agree with one's view. I think it's disingenuous to say that people accuse the FRC of hate and intolerance "just because they hold a differing view on a single issue?"
There are groups that campaign against equal rights for gays that are not recognized as hate groups. You, Mike Huckabee, know full well why groups the FRC get singled out for their efforts. It's not for their view alone. It's for their tactics.
The FRC makes a point of using discredited studies and misrepresenting other studies to falsely claim that gays are disproportionately child molesters trying to remove age-of-consent laws.
FRC head Tony Perkins criticized President Obama over his statements in opposition to the Ugandan Anti-Homosexuality Bill, which would have made homosexual acts punishable by, at minimum, life imprisonment and called for execution for some offenses.
This is more than a group that simply has a difference of opinion on equal rights. This is a group with a strong agenda against homosexuals.
For you to feign ignorance of this is insulting. A man in your position cannot afford to be this unknowing of their tactics, and yet this a group you supported in your efforts to show appreciation for Chick-Fil-A.
There is room in this nation for civil discourse on the issues, but Tony Perkins and the Family Research Council have time and again shown they have no interest in civility or even honesty.
