Pundits said for Mitt Romney couldn’t pick Paul Ryan as a running mate because Obama’s campaign would paint him as a far-right radical. But then, who wouldn’t they do that to? Romney somehow went from being a successful, moderate family man to a job-killing outsourcer who gives people cancer. He must’ve realized that Obama’s economic record is indefensible, so his reelection rests on sliming his opponents. . Ryan is “Mr. Fiscal Responsibility,” which means every attack on him will remind voters of Obama’s biggest weakness. Assail Ryan’s budget? At least Ryan WROTE a budget. He’d “end Medicare as we know it”? And taking $741 billion from Medicare to pay for Obamacare wouldn’t? Romney signaled with this pick signals that this election will be about the economy, no matter how hard the Obama campaign tries to change the subject.

This pick has an opportunity to do what Kerry/Edwards did for the challenging ticket in 2004. R/R must be very very careful not to reverse engineer any mistakes K/E did in 2004 to lose to a strong B/C team.
