BC Signs Huckabee: ABC Radio Networks signs former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee for the short-form feature "The Huckabee Report," launching Jan. 5. Available twice daily on weekday mornings and afternoons, Huckabee will discuss the top stories of the day in a way that will "speak directly to where the listeners are." He will discuss news "from a perspective that touches the listeners at the dinner table at night. That's the goal -- not to be esoteric or talk about it from the ivory towers of Washington but to talk about how it's going to affect the person driving to work today, not knowing if this is the last day they are going to have their job."

» Huckabee Joins ABC Radio Networks: Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee has signed on to host a new short form feature for the network. The Huckabee Report, airing weekday mornings and afternoons beginning January 5, will offer Huckabee's take on the day's top news via a medium that's not new to the former presidential candidate. "I started on the radio when I was 14 at KXAR in Hope, AR," Huckabee told NTS Aircheck Today. "I worked my way through high school, college and grad school doing radio, I love it." Noting a few changes since his former radio days Huckabee said, "You don't have any cart machines or Ampex reel-to-reel tape decks anymore, but radio still offers that real sense of urgency." Along with his hands on radio experience, Huckabee says he believes his political experience gives him, "a unique capacity to look from the inside of the asylum, rather than just describing it from the outside. There's a difference between a person who has actually had a jersey on and taken a few hits to the head vs. a person who has always been on the sidelines and can tell you everything about the game."

perspective on the day's leading issues and events as they relate to American
culture and policies is sure to resonate with radio audiences looking for the
latest headlines mixed with a bit of humor and common sense. This partnership
has tremendous potential and will be a key win for our affiliates in the coming
year."
"My first job at the age of 14 was reading the early morning news, sports,
weather and even commercials at our local radio station, so in a sense, this is
an opportunity for me to return to my roots," said Gov. HUCKABEE. "I
worked my way through high school and college in radio and loved every minute
of it. The team at ABC RADIO NETWORKS has a stellar reputation for syndicating
news programming and I'm pleased that I'll be partnering with them as I reach out
to Americans across the airwaves."
