DAILY BIBLE VERSE

20  Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

Isaiah 5:20

Veterans Day

Today is Veterans Day, when we should all fly our flags and do whatever we can to express our gratitude to America’s veterans and active duty military for putting their lives on the line to protect our freedom and security, and for all they do to protect other innocent people all over the world.

Despite all the other news demanding our attention, this day should never be overshadowed or overlooked. Today is about something far more important than passing political news. It’s about the men and women who make it possible for us to have elections and the Constitutional rights to freedom of speech and religion, and to protest and seek redress when we think our government isn’t doing right by us (even though we have far too many people in DC who seem to have forgotten that we have those rights.)

Memorial Day in May is to honor veterans who gave their lives in defense of America.  But Veterans Day is to honor all veterans, living or dead, past and present.

It began as Armistice Day, declared by President Woodrow Wilson in 1919, to commemorate the end of World War I. In 1945, World War II veteran Raymond Weeks of Birmingham, Alabama, began a personal crusade to expand Armistice Day into a state holiday honoring all veterans. In 1953, an Emporia, Kansas, shoe store owner named Al King launched a campaign to make it a national holiday. Just one year later, in 1954, he succeeded. It helped that the President was a retired army general from Kansas named Dwight Eisenhower.

Not only is today Veterans Day, but yesterday was the 248th birthday of the United States Marine Corps. It commemorates the day in 1775 when the Second Continental Congress established the Continental Marines to serve in the war against Great Britain. After the Revolutionary War ended, the Marines were disestablished for a time until President John Adams reestablished the Marines as we know the Corps now, on July 11, 1789. But November 10th, 1775, is still considered the birth of the US Marines.

So if you see someone in uniform, this is a great day to say “Thank you.” Then again, any day is a great day to do that.

Here's today’s link to Fox News’ continually updated stories on the war in Israel…

https://www.foxnews.com/live-news/november-11-israel-hamas-war

Recent developments: Multiple drones targeted US forces in northeast Syria this morning, bringing the number of attacks to 48 since October 17. Fortunately, there were no injuries or serious damage. Obviously, the bombing of that weapons facility in Syria on Wednesday didn’t send a strong enough message.

Open acts of anti-Semitism and threats against Jews continue to rage in nations where people should know better. In New York City on Friday afternoon, pro-Palestinian protesters flooded the streets, tried to break into Grand Central Terminal, and tore up Jewish newspapers. And at MIT (which I used to think was attended by smart people), pro-Palestinian and pro-Hamas students from a group calling itself the CAA physically prevented Jewish and Israeli students from attending class after harassing Jewish staff members in their offices. With no clear response from the administration, Jewish students now fear leaving their dorm rooms.

https://twitchy.com/amy-curtis/2023/11/10/mit-jewish-students-n2389636

Here’s my question: If they know who these people are, why are they still on the campus of MIT instead of being expelled, arrested, and where applicable, deported?

While our own young people are deluded or ignorant of what Hamas really is, that’s not true of Mosab Hassan Yousef, the eldest son of Hamas co-founder Hassan Yousef. He appeared on “Hannity” to denounce his own father’s organization. He said it’s not a political party, it’s a religious movement with a 7th century mentality that won’t compromise because killing Jews is in its charter. He said these pro-Palestinian protesters are “living in denial” and don’t know what Palestine is. He said, “Hamas represents chaos. This is where they thrive. Israel represents order; democracy – Hence those are the two opposite extremes that have been clashing."

At an Islamic-Arab summit on the war in Saudi Arabia, the president of Iran declared, "The only solution for this conflict is the resistance continuing against the Israeli oppression until the establishment of the Palestinian state from the river to the sea."  I assume Rep. Rashida Tlaib is celebrating the news that Iran is now calling for “peaceful coexistence,” since she idiotically claims that’s what “from the river to the sea” means.

The shocking anti-Semitism and anti-Israel hatred that’s become apparent on the left is red-pilling a number of Jewish liberals, among them Harvard law professor Alan Dershowitz. After listening to former President Barack Obama's moral equivalence/we-are-all-complicit horse manure and his use of the Hamas buzzword “occupation,” Dershowitz has had it.

https://www.westernjournal.com/dershowitz-goes-off-obama-israel-comments-ashamed-friend/

He called Obama’s equating of Israel and Hamas “despicable” and “beneath contempt,” adding, “Whatever respect I had for you, I have absolutely lost.” He said he believes Obama "has always had a deep hatred of Israel in his heart. He hid it very well." (That's the one thing I'd disagree with him on.) There’s more at the link, and I recommend you read it. His reaction to Obama’s outrageous comments shouldn’t come as a surprise if you saw my recent interview with him on “Huckabee,” which I also highly recommend:

Anti-Semitic activity in the West

David Strom at Hotair.com has an excellent round-up of all this shocking anti-Semitic activity in the West, along with some other warning signs of societal rot, all adding up to a chilling conclusion: “Barbarism is winning.”

Time for a MISTRIAL in Trump’s Manhattan real estate case?  Sure looks that way

With every passing week, it becomes increasingly obvious that the “Justice” Department has stacked the deck against President Trump in their repeated use of lawfare to knock him off the ballot.  Some of the examples are so egregious, it’s hard to believe that this is happening in the United States and that the target is a former President and current presidential candidate, running against the incumbent.

The Shining City on a Hill has never looked so tarnished.

The latest example was discovered by Laura Loomer --- portrayed in the media as a “far-right pro-Trump operative,” as if that negated what she found --- and deals with Judge Arthur Engoron, who’s presiding over the civil real estate fraud trial of Donald Trump brought by Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg.  This case has the potential to affect thousands of people in that city by shutting down the entire Trump Organization in New York, over something that many real estate professionals have said is common practice.

Even without Loomer’s story, Engoron has already done plenty to signal his obvious anti-Trump bias, from mugging for cameras on the first day of trial to saying, “No, I’m not here to hear what [President Trump] has to say,” to ruling BEFORE THE TRIAL HAD EVEN BEGUN concerning what Trump had allegedly done, severely limiting what Trump’s attorneys can use in his defense.

But as REVOLVER NEWS reported Thursday, Loomer appears to have discovered a social media account belonging to Dawn Marie Engoron, Judge Engoron’s wife, on which she allegedly posted “F--- TRUMP” along with photoshopped pictures of him in an orange prison jumpsuit, one shot looking particularly frightful with his head shaved.  (It might not be bloody like Kathy Griffin’s murderous “severed head” picture of Trump, but it’s still just as hateful.)  Never mind that this is a civil case, not criminal.  Loomer also posted on “X” that this woman was “openly attacking” Trump attorney Alina Habba.  She says she took screenshots of Mrs. Engoron’s posts, and they are here...

https://twitter.com/LauraLoomer/status/1722244994965414277?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctw

The posts were taken down, and REVOLVER hasn’t been able to confirm that Loomer’s screenshots are from Mrs. Engoron’s account or if they’re from some other “Dawn Marie.”  At the time of this writing, we can’t be 100 percent sure, either --- more like 95 percent --- but it’s important that someone determine right away whether or not they’re real.  To quote REVOLVER, “If the social media posts in question really do belong to Mrs. Engoron, then this entire case should be dismissed outright.  It seems our judicial system has devolved into a farce, fueled by the left’s insatiable desire to dismantle anything associated with ‘Trump.’  We must stand against this extreme animosity becoming the force that grinds this country and the values we believe in into the dust.”

Or, to put it more bluntly: “A judge with a crazy, biased, crackpot wife like this has no business overseeing a case like this.”

https://revolver.news/2023/11/alleged-photos-of-judge-engorons-wifes-anti-trump-social-media-posts-threaten-to-shut-everything-down/

Some on social media --- gearing up, I suppose, for the account to be found genuine --- are already trying to imply, “So what?” by saying, “Okay, now let’s look at Mrs. Clarence Thomas.”  Sorry, folks, this goes far beyond a spouse having her own political opinions and activities.  If these posts are genuine, they show a spouse making it clear she wants to see a man convicted who is on trial in her husband’s courtroom.

Bestselling author and persuasion expert Scott Adams weighed in on this Thursday during his podcast, “Coffee With Scott Adams.”

“In what world do you continue the trial?” Adams asked, “assuming this is true, and I think Laura Loomer has the right information.  Seriously, in what world do you do that?”

He continued: “They need to shut down the trial, immediately, or else I will never think this country is credible again...I mean, my opinion of the justice system will go to ‘completely broken’ if there’s even one more day of this trial.”

“You cannot have a judge who can only have one outcome or else he can’t (BLEEPING) go home.”

“...There’s no way he’s going to go home to that.  No human husband is free of that bias...In our world it doesn’t exist that he can do his job independently if he has to go home to that.  Nobody could --- I couldn’t, you couldn’t.  There’s no amount of ‘training,’ of legal, ethical behavior that has any bearing on this.”

“...So, congratulations, Laura Loomer,” he said.  “I think you ended this trial.  And if you didn’t, there’s just no way this is gonna be credible.”

Here’s his full video segment.  Language alert:  f-bombs are sprinkled here and there.  Obviously, he feels very strongly about this.

https://rumble.com/v3uvwtw-dilbert-creator-scott-adams-says-laura-loomers-investigation-should-end-the.html

If the case does go on and Engoron delivers the verdict he so obviously craves, Adams wonders if there could be an appeal based on this.  He was advised by a viewer that Jonathan Turley had said there could be; we’ll look into that.  Turley has already criticized Engoron, along with Special Counsel Jack Smith and Judge Tanya Chutkan, for violating Trump’s free speech rights; you might remember this column...

https://jonathanturley.org/2023/10/29/jack-smiths-war-on-free-speech-attorney-general-garland-should-rein-in-his-special-counsel/

Going to Loomer’s own site, she adamantly stands by her story under the headline “NEWSWEEK miserably fails to discredit bombshell Loomer report on Judge Engoron’s wife.”  They wrote a deceptive headline, she says, but ultimately could not show that this wasn’t Dawn Marie Engoron’s account. (Dawn did deny to NEWSWEEK that it was her account.  All they used to “debunk” the allegation was her denial.)

Loomer also posted the sensible rules judges are supposed to follow to avoid a conflict of interest or appearance of impropriety.  Judge Engoron is way out of step with them.  We are deep in kangaroo-court territory.

https://loomered.com/2023/11/10/exclusive-newsweek-miserably-fails-to-discredit-bombshell-loomer-report-on-judge-engorons-wife/

Speaking of Judge Chutkan, who has demonstrated obvious anti-Trump (and anti-Trump supporter) bias while presiding over other January 6 trials, she partially granted a motion by Special Counsel Jack Smith to make Trump say in advance whether he’s going to use the defense that he was acting on his attorneys’ advice, which Trump has claimed in public.  By forcing him to state this, Smith is maneuvering to get Trump to waive attorney-client privilege in this criminal trial.

"When a defendant invokes such a defense in court, he waives attorney-client privilege for all communications concerning that defense," Smith's team wrote, adding that "the government is entitled to additional discovery and may conduct further investigation, both of which may require further litigation and briefing."

Or, with the above statement, Smith could be trying to get Trump to NOT USE that defense, even if Trump can provide sufficient evidence of that, as it could make Smith’s job harder.  (Note:  We’re donning our lawyers’ hat here to speculate what Smith has in mind, but we are not attorneys.)  For example, as the WASHINGTON EXAMINER mentions, to get a conviction, Smith would have to convince the jurors that Trump knew he was breaking the law even if his lawyers had told him his actions were legal.  Otherwise, Trump’s reliance on his attorneys could raise doubts about his alleged criminal intent.

Criminal intent??  The trial sounds like even more of a joke now.  If Trump’s attorneys told him his actions were legal, how WOULD he know if they weren’t?  He had no criminal intent.

Related: New York Republican Rep. Elise Stefanik has filed an official judicial complaint against Judge Engoran for his “inappropriate bias and judicial intemperance” in what she described as “this disgraceful lawsuit” that’s part of the state’s “dangerous, weaponized lawfare against President Trump.”

Black Swans

Those who are already trying to handicap (or “differently able”) the 2024 election are learning that it’s still way too early, and any number of black swans could appear and shatter all their assumptions. In fact, we got two this week.

The Democrats were already looking at a tough electoral map for holding on to their tiny Senate majority, but that got a lot harder with West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin’s announcement that he will not seek reelection. Manchin was one of the dodo bird-rare, remaining moderate Democrats. West Virginia is a flaming red state that went for Trump over Biden in 2020 by about 69%, so Manchin’s days were likely numbered. His seat is seen as the surest lock for a Republican pickup.

Worse for Biden, Manchin is talking about touring the nation to talk to people about whether there’s support for a movement of voters in “the middle.” Some pundits note that that kind of “listening tour” talk is what politicians say when they’re pondering launching a presidential run.

Meanwhile, Biden just picked up another challenger from the left. Perennial Green Party candidate Jill Stein blasted Biden for fueling the “war machine” and announced that she will run against him in 2024. She previously ran in 2012 and 2016, and Hillary Clinton blamed her for siphoning off votes and costing her the presidency. But then, she blames everything for costing her the presidency other than herself.

Prayers and good wishes

Our prayers and good wishes today for former Arizona Republican Sen. Martha McSally, who reported that she was sexually assaulted while running alongside a river on the Iowa-Nebraska border before a scheduled speaking engagement in Omaha.

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/former-arizona-sen-martha-mcsally-she-sexually-assaulted-while-run-iowa

Sally has previously spoken about being a rape survivor. She said a man came up behind her, grabbed her and fondled her. Fortunately, she’s also the first female Air Force fighter pilot to fly in combat, and her instinct was to fight back. She fought him off, threw her water bottle at him and chased him into the woods before calling 911. As of this writing, police were still searching for him. Please join me in also praying that they find him and throw the book at him.

New study

A new study in JAMA Pediatrics claims that in states that have restricted access to abortion, there has been an 11% increase in foster care entry, putting a strain on the foster care system.

https://townhall.com/tipsheet/madelineleesman/2023/11/09/jama-study-about-abortion-and-foster-care-n2630968

As Madeleine Leesman at Townhall.com notes at the link, maybe there wouldn’t be a strain on the foster care system if officials would stop blackballing Christian couples because they might not be fully "affirming" if the child declares itself as LGBTQIA.

Also, given the choice between being in foster care or being dismembered in the womb, I can’t help thinking that most children would choose the former.

RIP Frank

I’ve spoken often about how my heroes when I was a kid were the NASA astronauts of the 1960s. On Thursday, we bid farewell to one of the giants of that era. Air Force fighter pilot and the oldest living astronaut Frank Borman has died in Billings, Montana, at 95.

Borman never got to walk on the moon, but he was one of the first men in space as part of the 14-day Gemini 7 mission in 1965. And in 1968, as the commander of Apollo 8, he and crewmen James Lovell and William Anders became the first humans ever to reach the moon (they circled it 10 times) and to see the Earth from the Moon, laying the groundwork for the moon landing.

On Christmas Eve 1968, in a historic speech that I can’t imagine the government okaying today, Borman read from the book of Genesis in a live broadcast from space to the entire world, "In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep." He ended with, “And from the crew of Apollo 8, we close with good night, good luck, a Merry Christmas, and God bless all of you — all of you on the good Earth.”

God bless Frank Borman, one of the greatest explorers of the 20th century. You can read more about his extraordinary life here.

Something to consider before connecting your cell phone to your car via Bluetooth:

A federal judge just rejected a class action lawsuit in Washington State against several makers, ruling that if they use your vehicle’s infotainment system to record, intercept or monitor your private text messages and phone logs, that doesn’t reach the threshold of an illegal privacy violation under state law.

Tiny violin

Trust me that I’m playing the world’s tiniest violin as I relate the tragic news that the feminist blog Jezebel is shutting down after failing to attract a buyer (do your own jokes about its lack of attractiveness.) Instapundit provides us with some handy reminders of why it will not be missed.

    Michael,

As you clearly present in your articles, all of the cases against Trump are falling apart. Why? Because they are all spurious.

BTW, I recently finished my 3rd book entitled "Millicent's Prudence" about how my aunt Millie in the late 1930s was intrigued by the Nazi movement, went to Germany, experienced the horrors, and eventually joined the resistance to save the world.

If you have time please buy and read my book and let me know your thoughts.

    Thank you.

PS I am a Walton County Posse guy that directs traffic for the Gulf Cemetary event on Memorial Day every year.
