Harvard Law Prof. Alan Dershowitz has some words of caution for those on the left who hope that Robert Mueller’s laundry list of questionable charges against Paul Manafort will pressure him to implicate President Trump in something criminal. Dershowitz says he’s been fighting for decades against the power of prosecutors to threaten people with prison to get them to implicate others. He says it can lead to defendants making up testimony, and if anyone else were doing it, it would be called “extortion.” And he had an ominous warning for Democrats who want to brand things Republicans do as “criminal” just because they disagree with them: if prosecutors are allowed to broaden criminal statutes like that, they may be going after Trump now, but they could go after Hillary Clinton next.

Of course, that opens the question of just how broad a statute has to be before someone in Washington actually holds Hillary accountable for violating it. I’m visualizing the Grand Canyon.

Sincerely,

Mike Huckabee

Lationo PAC pulls repulsive ad

By Mike Huckabee

A Latino PAC in Virginia has pulled a vile ad against GOP gubernatorial candidate Ed Gillespie that depicts Republicans as Confederate flag-flying bigots in pickups with Gillespie bumper stickers, running down terrified immigrant children. A spokesman for the PAC was unrepentant and made it clear it wasn’t being yanked because it’s been condemned by virtually everyone (except Gillespie’s Democratic opponent) as one of the most disgusting political ads in the history of the universe, but because of the timing of the terrorist truck attack in New York. He claimed the PAC has other “powerful ads” to replace it that will highlight why Virginia needs to elect progressives. I'm guessing none of them will make as powerful an argument as this did for why Virginia really doesn't.

Jesse Jackson digs a deeper hole for NFL

By Mike Huckabee

Even as NFL ratings, ticket sales and revenues are plunging, Jesse Jackson is calling on the players to “escalate” their protests during the National Anthem. I have to assume this is part of liberals’ long-time dream of making soccer more popular than football.

"A return to joy"

By Mike Huckabee

Here’s the type of news we really need right now: after ISIS was finally crushed and driven from its self-proclaimed caliphate “capital” of Raqqa, Syria, residents who’ve suffered unimaginable torture and cruelty are celebrating their liberation in some beautiful, life-affirming ways. As one put it, after three years of all celebrations being banned, they are celebrating “a return to joy.”

ICE Director sends warning to employers

By Mike Huckabee

The head of Immigration and Customs Enforcement is sending a warning to employers to stop hiring illegal immigrants. Acting ICE Director Thomas Homan says that as long as people think they can get jobs, they’ll keep coming. So this year, employers should expect workplace inspections and enforcement to ramp up by four to five times the current level. In recent years, arrests of employers for immigration law violations have steeply dropped, but those arrests could be set to rebound. That is, if they don’t listen, because they have been warned.

Online dating tale

Tales from a British dating website: Lonely Sudanese refugee seeks woman with pharmacology degree who shares his interest in romance, parenthood and mixing deadly chemicals. Object: matrimony and jihadist bomb or ricin attack. Luckily, UK authorities caught them before the honeymoon was over.

It is amazing-not in a good way-that the left is determined to find SOMETHING, ANYTHING to use against Trump, but what they are finding is more information against Democrats. And, since it isn't going to get Trump out of the White House, it seems to be--just move along, nothing to see here. Why aren't the Democrats being taken to task as vigorously as they are going after people who weren't doing anything during their time on the campaign? What is going to be done about hilary hijacking the DNC (and the inside people now reporting it think it's news to people who were paying attention during the campaigns?) and, really, to be taken to task for her illegal activities that Comey admitted to, but refused to act on. Of course, his illegal activity probably precluded him from calling out people who knew what he was all about. Probably got a nice thank you donation, too. Just my opinion on that.
