Support Chick Fil-A
Mike Huckabee
I have been incensed at the vitriolic assaults on the Chick fil-A company because the CEO, Dan Cathy, made comments recently in which he affirmed his view that the Biblical view of marriage should be upheld. The Cathy family, led by Chick fil-A founder Truett Cathy, are a wonderful Christian family who are committed to operating the company with Biblical principles and whose story is the true American success story. Starting at age 46 Truett Cathy built Chick fil-A into a $4 billion a year enterprise with over 1600 stores. At 91, he is still active in the company, but his son Dan runs it day to day as CEO.It's a great American story that is being smeared by vicious hate speech and intolerant bigotry from the left.
The Chick fil-A company refuses to open on Sundays so that their employees can go to church if they wish. Despite the pressure from malls, airports, and the business world to open on Sundays, they still don't. They treat customers and employees with respect and dignity.
I ask you to join me in speaking out on Wednesday, August 1 "Chick fil-A Appreciation Day.” No one is being asked to make signs, speeches, or openly demonstrate. The goal is simple: Let's affirm a business that operates on Christian principles and whose executives are willing to take a stand for the Godly values we espouse by simply showing up and eating at Chick fil-A on Wednesday, August 1. Too often, those on the left make corporate statements to show support for same sex marriage, abortion, or profanity, but if Christians affirm traditional values, we're considered homophobic, fundamentalists, hate-mongers, and intolerant. This effort is not being launched by the Chick fil-A company and no one from the company or family is involved in proposing or promoting it.
There's no need for anyone to be angry or engage in a verbal battle. Simply affirm appreciation for a company run by Christian principles by showing up on Wednesday, August 1 or by participating online – tweeting your support or sending a message on Facebook.

Mr.Huckabee, I would like for you to know how your actions have affected my family. I am Christian mother whose child was born gay. Many a night have we cried when she came to terms with who she was. I assured her that above all that God, Jesus Christ loves her, no matter what and she accepted Him as her Savior. You have no idea how sad I feel to know how people like you and all these "supporters" would hate my child for wanting the same love and commitment and rights as any other human being. She and I know she'll never have it. I hope your agenda serves your purpose and makes you happy. I just wanted you to know how people who love God/Jesus Christ are also hurting right now. What you do to my child, you do to me. And I am hurting right now. Sincerely, Sarah C

Governor, thank you for heading up this effort. I went to my local Chick Fil-A on Appreciation Day and it was a blast to see so many people supporting the franchise in Sandy Springs, GA and across the country. I am proud of everyone who did so. Thanks again for taking the lead in this way.
Ciao

Dear Gov. Huckabee: Have you seen the latest headline on the net? A 'Kiss-in' today at Chick-Fil-A locations? Seriously, the LGBT folks need to get a grip on what the real issue is. The mayor of Boston, as you pointed out, started this with his 'hate' speech. Since when do private citizens-including business owners-not have the right to freedom of expression? This whole thing is disgusting to me as an American. I would also like to add a big THANK YOU to you for asking folks to patronize their local Chick-Fil-A business on August 1st. Too bad the LGBT groups just don't get it. Love you radio show & TV show; we listen/watch every day. Sincerely, Vicki Plaugher, Fremont, CA

Mike, you're the best!
Utterly ridiculous. Why is this such a big deal. A man makes his position known on something he believes in. He contributes his money in support of those who also believe in similar values. If he were a liberal business owner, who made it known he disagrees with the heterosexual lifestyle, and sent his hard earned dollars to factions which support the gay marriage agenda, this would be no big deal. In fact, I'm convinced we would hear nothing about it, but, because he is a conservative, this opens up the floodgates for protest. It is rare anyone takes a stance or position anymore, people should be proud he at least stands for what he believes in, for this is the spirit of a true American.
