President Obama is trying to deflect Joe Biden’s “Republicans want to put y’all back in chains” comment with a favorite tactic: claiming it was taken out of context. Unfortunately, context is not Biden’s friend. When you look at Joe Biden’s entire speech, you just keep finding other gems, like promising that American automakers will dominate the 20th century. Plus, even sympathetic black leaders aren’t buying that Biden’s “chains” comment wasn’t race-baiting. Former Obama campaign co-chair Artur Davis told CNN that every black person in the room knew who “y’all” were and what “chains” meant. And former Virginia Gov. Douglas Wilder said slavery is nothing to joke about. Well, not for a Republican. Obama insists Biden will keep his job. But Obama still has 16 days to rethink his very first executive hiring decision.
