I listened to Victoria Jackson on the show today. Now we know for sure her "dumb blonde" act on SNL was not an act. She is actually as smart as she appeared on SNL - which was "not very." Gave her heart to Jesus at age 6? Another Christian parent convinces their child to believe that if they don't accept Jesus Christ as their lord and savior, they will burn in hell for eternity - what nonsense! Gee, thanks Dad!

There are two Supreme Court rulings that directly relate to the current anti-Assault Weapon issue everyone needs to be reminded of.

The first is United States v. Miller 1939. Miller possessed a sawed-off shotgun banned under the National Firearms Act. He argued that he had a right to bear the weapon under the Second Amendment, but the Supreme Court ruled against him. Why? At the time, sawed-off shotguns were not being used in a military application, and the Supremes ruled that since it didn't, it was not protected. Even though Miller lost that argument, the Miller case set the precedent that protected firearms have a military, and thus a legitimate and protected Militia use. The military now uses shotguns regularly, but not very short, sawed-off shotguns, but an AR-15/AK-47 type weapon is currently in use by the military, therefore it is a protected weapon for the Unorganized Militia, which includes just about every American citizen now that both age and sex discrimination are illegal. (The original Militia included men of age 17-45) Therefore any firearm that is applicable to military use is clearly protected under Article II, and that includes all those nasty-looking semi-automatic black rifles, including full 30 round magazines.

The second important case is that of John Bad Elk v. United States from 1900. In that case, an attempt was made to arrest Mr. Bad Elk without probable cause, and Mr. Bad Elk killed a policeman who was attempting the false arrest. Bad Elk had been found guilty and sentenced to death. However, the Supreme Court ruled that Bad Elk had the right to use any force, including lethal force, to prevent his false arrest, even if the policeman was only trying to arrest him and not kill him. Basically, the Supremes of the day ruled that as a citizen, you have the right to defend against your civil rights being violated using ANY force necessary to prevent the violation, even if the offending party isn't trying to kill you.

Both of these cases are standing law to this day.

The Miller decision clearly includes AR-15/AK-47 type weapons as having a military application. The Bad Elk decision means that if the government tries to confiscate your AR-15/AK-47, or arrest you for having one, you can kill the offenders on the spot, even if they are not trying to kill you.

I didn't make these decisions; the United States Supreme Court did.

I was taken by the comment by the woman caller who felt there was no "safe zone". I feel very sad for anyone that feels that way, and here's why.

Yes, anything can happen anywhere. A plane can fall, a car can crash, you can skin your knee, your crops can fail, you can be mugged or worse. You can also be given a smile, a kind word, a pat on the back, a ray of sunshine, a child can hold your hand. Most often, it's the latter small acts of grace that escape our attention and we focus on catastrophe and gloom. We fear, we wall ourselves off. And we miss out on what we've been given.

Just because something can happen doesn't mean it will. If you withdraw from life, then the good in life will disappear as well. Don't let that happen!

I'm reminded of coming home to Berkeley California from the airport in a shuttle bus. We were driving past Oakland and the young lady next to me said "What is that pretty city?" I replied "Oakland." She said "But, it's not on fire. How can it be Oakland?" She was fully expecting that Oakland was nothing but crime and fire and riots. But that's not common sense. The city would have folded many years ago if it were violence 24/7, and believe me, it's still there and going strong. Yes, it has it's big problems, I'm not denying that. But I've had a wonderful life here in Oakland and nearby cities. It's a beautiful place with loads of kind people from all over the nation and globe.

You may think me an optimistic fool, but I choose to look at the glass not just half full, but overflowing with good things. On the heels of a senseless act like the one in Boston, I do mourn that it happened, but I thank goodness it doesn't happen more often. Were I the running type of person, I would not hesitate to sign up for the next marathon. To me, it's just commons sense.

with the upcomming Supreme Court ruling I would like you to do something like the Chick Filet Appreciation Day.
Ask Christians nationwide to take one of their many Bibles off the shelf and mail it to Chief Justice Roberts along with a short note asking him to rule as God would in this case. Also, tell him to "repent, God loves him. We could have 100,000s of Bibles delivered to the court asking only of Christians to pay "book' price. Thus, we spread THE WORD and make an impact nationwide. Also,
on the Sunday before the court makes its ruling we ask churches to be overflowing with Christians praying for a biblical court ruling.

    Thank You
    God Bless

Dear Mike, what you said about no safe zones here on earth was right. There is only one safe zone and that place is in Christ Jesus and He alone! You said it so elegantly and well put! People need to wake up to the fact that we are only SAFE in Jesus and we do not know when our time to leave this world will be nor how it will be! Also I hope this is not some gov. thing to make rightwingers(as they call us) like we did this...I would not put anything past anyone who is not living for Christ, evil does as evil does. Even if it happens to be someone who is rightwinger it is not all of us, it would be someone who is a sick person...everyone is not that way!!! People need to open their eyes and see this..time is running out, I believe Jesus is comming soon, also we are not promised another day. God bless you Mike and all Others out there. God Help America and Forgive All Our Sins!
