POLL: Do you agree with the TV networks' plan to stop showing the National Anthem on TV so viewers don't see any protesters? Over 38,000 votes cast.

J.T. Brown of the Tampa Bay Lightning, one of 30 black members of the National Hockey League, announced that he will no longer raise his fist during the National Anthem in protest of police brutality and racism. Instead, he will work with the police on programs to get kids involved in sports and other activities that keep them out of trouble with the police.

So what changed his mind? Angry fans? Pressure from team owners? No, he took the police up on their invitation to join in on police training and learn what the people in blue really have to face on the job every day in dealing with suspects who resist arrest. Brown now says, “I have a better understanding, I can guarantee you that.”

Hey, NFL team owners: how about calling your local police departments to see if they’d like to have “Bring a football player to the Police Academy” Day?

Hillary's friend shares Weinstein story

By Mike Huckabee

Hillary Clinton claims to be shocked and horrified that her pal and donor, Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein, has been accused of being a serial sexual harasser and assaulter. But another of her Hollywood besties, TV producer/writer Linda Bloodworth-Thomason (“Designing Women”) says she warned at least three top-level Democratic operatives about Weinstein years ago, and nothing was done.

She is so close to Hillary that she was among the very first guests in the Lincoln Bedroom after Bill Clinton was elected; so as one pundit put it, if she knew about Weinstein, then Hillary knew. But then, Hillary is also known for not being able to spot sexual predators in her close circle. And she also once claimed to be shocked and horrified at the thought of not accepting the results of a Presidential election. So take whatever she says with enough salt to give you a stroke.

Veterans deserve top quality, timely care

By Mike Huckabee

From the “Stories To Make Your Blood Boil” Desk comes this, about a veteran who went to the V.A. and endured a two-week wait for an appointment, a 90-day wait to see the doctor, another 90-day wait to see a specialist, then a 120-day wait on the Choice Card program to see a private sector provider. The V.A. just submitted a proposal to Congress to fix the problem and get veterans to private sector care faster, but the V.A. workers’ union opposes it for fear that funding will go to private doctors instead of the V.A. system.

It seems to me that the solution is obvious: If you want veterans to stay in the V.A. system, then get them top quality care in a timely fashion, the way the private sector does. And if you believe that preserving the system is more important than providing fast, quality care to veterans, then do everyone a favor and find some other line of work.

Tough questions please

By Mike Huckabee

Why did the Mandalay Bay Hotel/Casino security guard at the center of questions about the timeline of the Las Vegas mass shooting cancel scheduled appearances on “Hannity” and other news shows and disappear, only to resurface on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show?” There’s a report that the hotel bosses had him go on “Ellen” knowing he wouldn’t be asked any tough questions. So, same reason a lot of celebrities go on “Ellen.” But in his case, I would hope that delaying tactic has already caused all the delay it’s going to, and law enforcement will start asking plenty of tough questions now.

Budget news

By Mike Huckabee

Your early morning Trump Tweet Round-up: Positive today, as the President celebrates the Senate actually passing a budget last night that will now allow them to proceed to debating tax reform. The budget passed without a single Democratic vote, but then, during the Obama years, they got out of practice at passing budgets so maybe they just forgot how.

Speaking for myself alone, I could care less what the main stream media does regarding anything they do or say. I have stopped watching anything to do with football. I don't believe anything they say about Our President Trump and I have sincere doubts about any of the main stream news these days. I love my National Anthem and I Honor everything and everybody it stands for, which is my great nation and every Soldier who has fought and died for this great Nation as well as those who continue to live with the injuries and the nightmares of war. The football players have lost the respect of the majority of the majority of Americans, due to their disrespect of both our Nation and Our Military. Thank You Mike For allowing me the opportunity to voice my feelings in this matter. God Bless You and Yours Today and Forever.

On veterans receiving care, I have a relative in Omaha, NE that goes to the VA and they were told that area doctors are going to the VA and helping out VA doctors and seeing patients. Why isn't that being done all over the country? It would certainly help lower the long waiting times for veterans to be seen. We should be doing everything we can for these men and women.

I think it's a great idea for the police to have a "take a football player to work" day.

Regarding the VA workers union issue. I can't help but see the similarity between this union and the teachers unions with their loathe of vouchers. The reason for their irritation is SO the same, it's stunning. If they cannot do the job, there are alternatives, which it is evident, that are much better, for the kids and the vets, for the parents and the taxpayers, and for the future of America.

The easies way to fix the VA system is make it the only health care given to our elected officials. I think you would see a sudden shift in prioritizes among members of Congress and the Senate. It should also make it easier to get referred to a private practice specialist. Maybe they get a better appreciation of the problems of our veterans.
    Just an idea.
