Congress is supposed to have oversight over the intelligence community.  Not the other way around.

But according to a new report by Sharyl Attkisson, that’s what happened.  In 2014, the Obama CIA under John Brennan secretly intercepted sensitive congressional emails that discussed whistleblowers within the intelligence community.  Then-Director of National Intelligence James Clapper wrote members of Congress that this information was not meant to be shared; of course, by then he was quite practiced at lying, having testified in 2013 that the CIA did not “wittingly” collect data on millions of Americans.  Information that was leaked just weeks later by Edward Snowden proved quite conclusively that Clapper hadn’t told the truth.

We just keep finding out more and more that is bad within the intel community, and it’s probably still only the tip of the iceberg.  It seems that, in recent years, the policies, longstanding traditions and even the law no longer applied.  Before going on with the details of this new revelation, I just want to say that this is a major reason why the elections on Tuesday are so important.  It’s the kind of thing that needs to be exposed and rooted out, and if (shiver) Nancy Pelosi takes up the gavel again in the House and (shudder) Adam Schiff chairs the House Intelligence Committee, any congressional investigation of this garbage –- happening as it did under President Obama –- will be shut down for good, while instead they examine every year of President Trump’s tax returns with an electron microscope.

Obama:  Vote Democrat to help Cuba

By Mike Huckabee

Former President Barack Obama, campaigning in Florida, told voters to elect Democrats because they won’t be hard on the oppressive communist government of Cuba and impose sanctions to force them to give their people human rights.  As Obama put it, “We need to get back to politics that’s for the Cuban people, make their lives better.  That’s change.”

Well, it’s change, all right.  One could argue that it’s a big “change” for a United States President to urge Americans to elect people based on how much better they’ll make the lives of residents of other countries.  Of course, it’s not a change from what he did, which was give us eight years of American decline and acquiescence to tyrants in other nations.  I can only remind voters that that’s why so many of you were so anxious for a big “change” from him just a couple of years ago.

"Crosswalk Cathy"

By Mike Huckabee

The latest version of “Portlandia” looks a lot like the old version of “1984.”  In Portland, Oregon, a woman saw a car parked illegally in a crosswalk with nobody inside and called the Parking Authority to report it.  There was no way for her to know who owned the car.  But she was white, and it turned out the car owner was black.  So the Portland Mercury wrote an incendiary article that identified her and got her branded as a racist with the derogatory nickname “Crosswalk Cathy.”  That, of course, set off the always-angry/never-fully-informed Twitter mobs, who’ve tried to ruin and threaten her life.

This was the same paper that previously stirred up Twitter mob hatred (including at least 10 death threats) against two women who opened a weekends-only breakfast burrito shop but weren’t Hispanic.  Even local minority restaurant owners thought that was outrageous.

And the liberal media people really wonder why crowds cheer when Trump calls some of them “enemies of the people”?  If you want to be respected and called “journalists,” here’s an idea: try practicing journalism.

Secure the border

By Mike Huckabee

As the migrant caravans heading north toward the US have grown bigger, President Trump has vowed to send thousands of troops to secure the border.  It’s a move that’s caused Democrats and the media (but I repeat myself) to brand him as cruel and heartless, sending soldiers to prevent all those poor, downtrodden women and children from receiving asylum (which they could have had in Mexico, but refused.)  But Democrats really need to learn: before picking a campaign issue, find out how all those Deplorables out in America feel about it.  In this case, they’re solidly on Trump’s side, and I mean surprisingly solidly.

A new Zogby poll found that 57% of Americans agree that it’s a good idea to send troops to stop the caravan from streaming into the US.  Digging deeper, it gets even worse for the open borders left.  Ninety-one percent of Republicans, 53% of Independents and even 31% of Democrats agree with sending troops to the border. Even 51% of Hispanics agree, and that includes 30% who strongly agree.

It shows once again the folly of thinking that just because someone is a member of a particular ethnic group, you can assume you know what they’ll think about an issue.  That used to be called "stereotyping;" i.e., “racism.”

It also shows how far to the left the Democratic leadership and the media have veered, and how out-of-touch they are with most Americans, that they would go ballistic over the unthinkable outrage of the Commander-in-Chief using troops to keep a large mass of people from another country from invading our homeland.  Wasn’t that the original reason for having troops?

Mark your calendar

By Mike Huckabee

I hope that every American already has November 11th (Veterans Day) marked on their calendar.  But if you are a veteran, make a special note of this: the Applebee’s restaurant chain hopes to give away a million free meals to veterans next Sunday to say “thank you” for their service.  Golden Corral has a similar free meal offer for veterans on Monday, November 12th.  And there are a quite a few other chains offering various freebies to veterans.  To find out more, click the link.
