It’s become painfully obvious that the “progressive,” PC, “social justice warrior” left ruins everything it touches, from sex to the NFL to late night comedy. Now, add to the list the Boy Scouts. Oh, sorry: just “the Scouts.” Having spent the past few years pushing boys to the back of their priority list as they admitted gay Scoutmasters, transgender Scouts and girls, the organization announced last week that it was finally dropping the icky, toxically masculine word “Boy” from its name. This was allegedly a move to make the Scouts more “inclusive,” to help boost declining membership. Well, that sure worked.

The Mormon Church, whose members account for one-fifth of Scout membership, stood by the organization through all the controversies, but this was the last straw. The church announced that it’s severing ties with the Scouts, which could result in a loss to the Scouts of 425,000 members over the next two years. Too bad there’s not a merit badge for Self-Destructive Appeasement.

Speaking of once-beloved things that the PC left has ruined, tomorrow is Mother’s Day. Leftists haven’t ruined that yet, but boy, are they trying hard!

A search of this year’s news on the holiday turns up story after story about various people whining and complaining for the most arcane reasons: Mother’s Day is sexist; celebrating motherhood is exclusionary because it suggests that childless women aren’t deserving of being celebrated for their nurturing abilities; cards that mention the word “mother” are “triggering” to transgender men who had children when they were women but no longer identify as mothers; and on and on and on.

You have to feel sorry for the poor card writers at Hallmark. It’s hard enough to come up with something original to say about Mother’s Day, but now, every single card is expected to cover every conceivable permutation of “gender identity” (of which we now have more than Baskin Robbins has ice cream flavors), yet at the same time say nothing that offends anyone in a world where some people seem to be offended by absolutely everything.

Luckily, the perfect solution already exists: cards that are blank on the inside. Just buy one of those for your mom and don’t write anything on the inside; just give it to her blank. Tell her you didn’t want to offend her. Of course, she’ll probably be offended by that, but what are you gonna do?

So, reading these comments it sounds like the former BSA is poaching girls from GSA with the goal to leave the GSA irrelevant in a few years, and maybe take over cookie sales as a good revenue source unmatched by the former BSA.
As an old guy rooting through my attic, I found a box of my scout stuff - hat, kerchief, web belt, merit badge sash, canteen, hat, pocket knife, etc. and it brought back a flood of great memories that some day people, most people, will not relate to or even have any curiosity about. That is pretty sad, but a joyous occasion for the SJWs, no doubt.

The comment that girls & boys won't be meeting together is incorrect. I don't know about camping. I was unable to read the comment by Ellis; part of it is cut off.

I was a Girl Scout. My daughter was a Girl Scout & I was Co-leader of her troop. My granddaughters are now Girl Scouts & my daughter is Co-leader of their troop.

Girl Scouts provides girls with so many learning experiences, not limited to their gender but addressing specifically issues which are of interest to growing young women. They meet female role models. They learn many things that they can't learn in a mixed gender environment. In front of boys many important discussions just could and would not take place. Girls need this nurturing environment, just as boys need their own nurturing environment.

My uncle was an Eagle Scout who grew up to become a Marine. My cousin was an Eagle Scout. I have always supported our local Boy Scouts but no more. Shame on the BSA for watering down the Boy Scout experience and for competing with the Girl Scouts.

As Julia Roberts said in "Pretty Woman," You made a mistake. A big mistake.

The Boy Scouts of America is not changing their name and there will not be co-ed Scout troops. They are allowing charter organizations to form Girl-only troops that will function separate from the current Boy-only troops. The boys and girls will not be meeting together or camping together. Yes, they are calling both of these two types of troops “Scouts, BSA” but the name Boy Scouts of America is not changing.
I’m a Scoutmaster and my Troop is growing. We are certainly not “dead”. We are still reaching boys in my community and teaching them about character, citizenship, work ethic, outdoor skills, and duty to God and country. And, since our Troop is chartered by a church, our membership requirements are the same as they were 60 years ago when our Troop was founded. Sure, a few troops in liberal areas have allowed gays and transgenders to join their ranks, but the overwhelmingly majority of troops are just like they’ve always been.
Please don’t continue to perpetuate the media myth that the Boy Scouts are “dying”.

There's a lot more to the BSA's idea of 'Family Scouting' than over-reactions to the decision. The BSA has just added girls 5 to 14 in 'girl- only' Cub Pack dens and Scout Troops to the thousands of girls 14 to 21 already involved as members since 1970, and that's not to mention female adult leaders and professionals at all levels. This is an evolutionary, not a revolutionary change made at a time when first impressions and outrage are easier and probably more fun!

This is getting beyond ridiculous. I'm so very thankful I was able to benefit from scouting as a kid. From Cub Scouts to Boy Scouts, it molded me into what I consider a pretty good person with strong morals and an understanding of proper ethics. I hope the Mormon Church comes up with a replacement organization that isn't exclusive to their faith. I'd expect there are LOADS of families that would like to participate.
About trying to combat Mother's Day - all I can say is: what a bunch of idiots. Maybe if these losers had joined the Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts when younger, they'd have a better grasp on reality.
