I hope you watched President Trump’s brief address last night on border security, and Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer’s response.

Most tasteless tweet
By Mike Huckabee
The award for the Most Tasteless Tweet during Trump’s speech goes to “Late Night with Seth Meyers,” which snarkily responded to his recounting of Americans killed by illegal immigrants with criminal records with this: “Is this ‘Oval Office SVU?” Even fans of the relentlessly anti-Trump comic expressed disgust at that. I would hope that didn’t come from Meyers himself but from some junior writer who will soon be looking for a job more suited to his talents, maybe something in the ditch-excavation arena.

The dumbest attempt at pious superiority
By Mike Huckabee
And the award for the dumbest attempt at pious superiority goes to the Southern Poverty Law Center, which tweeted, “President Trump spoke tonight about ‘illegal aliens,’ but no human is illegal.” Yes, that’s why he said “illegal aliens” instead of “illegal humans.” It’s the “being an alien in the US illegally” part that makes them an “illegal alien.” Seriously, these people are lawyers? If someone broke into the SPLC’s offices and set up housekeeping in their CEO’s office, would they call the police and have him arrested as a trespasser, or would they just let him stay there because, after all, he’s only human?
I don’t know, but I sure would get a kick out of seeing someone try it, just to find out.

Democrat mega-donor in trouble
By Mike Huckabee
When one black male escort turns up dead of a drug overdose at the home of a white Democratic mega-donor in West Hollywood, that might just be a tragic coincidence. When a second turns up dead, that might actually be enough to get the homeowner seriously investigated, even if he is a Democratic mega-donor in West Hollywood. One black protester in the crowd outside his house made an interesting point: he said if two white men had been found dead inside a black man's house, the dude would already be in jail.

Ainsworth: "Get woke, go broke" --- fashion magazines leaving newsstands
By Laura Ainsworth
Helen Smith at Instapundit has an essay that gets me as happy as the thought of a high border wall. The reason for my joy: She writes about the demise of women’s magazines. And she has the same reaction to that as I do; namely, “good riddance!”
She refers to these magazines as “paragons of social justice” that have been brainwashing the women of America. “Even magazines like LADIES HOME JOURNAL,” she writes, “are infested with left-leaning programming meant more for indoctrination than entertainment.” So true.
AOC trashes the fact-checkers
By Mike Huckabee
I really don’t mean to pick on “Democratic” Socialist Rep. Alex Ocasio-Cortez, but her plans to remake America into a socialist Utopia apparently not only require destroying the Constitution and US economy but also waging war on fact-checkers. After being challenged on her fuzzy math on “Sixty Minutes” (hey, it was only a little $21 trillion mistake, which is nothing when you’re “morally right”), she went on an epic tweet-storm against fact-checkers, demanding to know why she’s being fact-checked so much when the Trump Administration has been fact-checked so little.
The Washington Post’s fact-checker, Glenn Kessler, replied, “We have fact-checked you twice. We have fact-checked 7,645 Trump claims.”
Then you’d better brace yourself, Glenn. She has 7,643 to go.

A big week for believers in socialism
By Mike Huckabee
This is a big week for believers in Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy and socialism. As if to illustrate why so many productive, tax-paying citizens are fleeing blue states, New York City Mayor Bill DeBlasio announced that the city will begin guaranteeing comprehensive health care to every resident, regardless of ability to pay or immigration status. That includes 300,000 “undocumented New Yorkers,” or to use the more precise, non-PC term, “illegal aliens.” And in the grand tradition of creators of big government handout programs since time began (and aluminum siding salesmen), DeBlasio promised, “It's going to save us money down the line."
https://www.nbcnewyork.com/news/local/NYC-Health-Care-Guarantee-Mayor-de-Blasio-504046171.html
Meanwhile, on the far left coast, California’s new Governor Gavin Newsom pushed the state closer to single-payer health care by announcing that health care benefits would be extended to illegal immigrants under age 26 (Questions: if you’re not allowed to ask for ID to see if they’re even citizens, how do you determine their ages? So isn't that age limit effectively unenforceable?)
I don’t expect politicians of their ilk to be familiar with economic history and theory explaining the unintended consequences of offering “free” stuff that someone else has to pay for to anybody who shows up. But judging from their thinking, you might guess that during their formative years, they probably smoked a lot of weed while listening to rock albums. If so, then they must have heard “Tommy” by the Who. So I'll cite that:
In this rock opera, a deaf, dumb and blind, but charismatic, guy who literally knows nothing about the real world becomes a celebrity, and a lot of deluded stoners decide he must be their Messiah. He has a big enough ego to believe it himself, so he orders his followers to put on blinders and ear plugs and build a big commune, then he starts inviting the entire world to move in and live there for free (“We need more room, build an extension, a colorful palace, spare no expense now…”)
Naturally, the place is soon filled to bursting, yet “there’s more at the door, there’s more at the door…”
The rock opera has a happy ending when even Tommy’s deluded followers finally realize he’s a fraud, declare, “We’re not gonna take it,” and overthrow him. Let us all pray that the voters of New York City and California take off their blinders and earplugs and have the same realization before the entire population of Central America has moved in and all the producers have fled to Texas where they’re listening to ZZ Top.

"Tippy-top"
By Mike Huckabee
For those who saw Rep. Ocasio-Cortez on “Sixty Minutes” pushing for a return to 70% tax rates on the “tippy-top” earners (apparently, that’s a math term now used in college economics classes), here’s a handy primer on how tax codes really work and why punishing tax rates result in less revenue to the government, which Democrats like JFK used to understand.
