I know it’s hard to keep up with all the mid-level bureaucrats without a scorecard, but during Adam Schiff’s Titanic-like “impeachment” hearings, one person we never heard from was Mark Sandy of the White House Office of Management and Budget. He had to give a deposition during the secret hearings, so why wasn’t he put on TV during the public hearings?
His deposition transcript was just released, and it may offer a clue. As you can see at the link, Sandy heard President Trump was reluctant to release aid money to Ukraine, but he didn’t know why. He asked around, but never got an answer. Until finally, he said, “I recall in early September an email that attributed the hold to the President's concern about other countries not contributing more to Ukraine.”
The Democrats are now trying to spin this as a late-stage cover-up, but ask yourself, what sounds more like Donald Trump? That he was so scared of running against "Sleepy Joe" Biden that he’d risk his presidency just to get a little dirt on him, or that he was ticked off that America was paying too much of a foreign aid expense for which other nations weren’t covering their fair share? How many times have we heard the latter? In fact, that was one of his campaign promises and one of the reasons we elected him: to make other nations pony up for their own defense and stop getting a free ride on the US taxpayers’ backs.
That brings me to this article, which is about “Anonymous,” the alleged White House staffer who wrote a New York Times op-ed and a book about how there’s a cabal of insiders working to undermine Trump’s agenda.
The main point of the article is a theory that “Anonymous” is actually Guy Snodgrass, the chief speechwriter for former Defense Secretary James Mattis. I’m not saying that’s true (I wouldn't want Adam Schiff accusing me of violating any federal laws by identifying anti-Trump, Deep State trolls), and I’m not even linking to it because of that.
I’m linking to it because the article notes that both the “Anonymous” book and a previous book by Snodgrass single out as one of the dangerous traits of Trump that the Deep State must counter the fact that “when briefed about international alliances, Trump derails discussions by griping about how allies are stiffing the United States, from allegedly miserly NATO contributions to ostensibly one-sided trade policies.”
Sound familiar? That’s exactly the reason Mark Sandy gave for why Trump was reluctant to hand over a big pile of money to Ukraine. It’s also what he ran on, and a large part of why many of us voted for him: because other nations WEREN’T paying their fair share, and our trade deals WERE one-sided and stacked against America.
In summation: the reason the Democrats are trying to impeach him, and the reason the entrenched Washington interests are trying to undermine and thwart him, is because he’s doing exactly what we sent him there to do. All things considered, I agree that somebody really does need to be removed from office and sent packing – but it’s not Donald Trump.
