Democrats running for President face a serious obstacle: most voters over the age of four remember what it was like when they were last in charge. They can’t say, “Put us back in charge so we can bring back stagnant wages, anemic job creation and record low GDP growth!” So they’ve settled on a new tack: Sure, under Trump, GDP and job creation are both way up, wages are rising and unemployment is at historic lows in all demographics. But that’s not good enough! Like walls, jobs become immoral when they're created under Trump!

The Jussie Smollett Hoax

By Mike Huckabee

(Disclaimer: I always respect due process rights so I will stipulate up front that “Empire” actor Jussie Smollett is still telling castmates that he “swears to God” he didn’t fabricate the attack on him, and his attorneys insist that Chicago authorities trampled on his presumption of innocence by portraying him as definitely guilty in their press conference. Duly noted.

Thursday’s press conference by Chicago police about the alleged racist, homophobic attack on Smollett was remarkable not only for what was said, but for what wasn’t said.

"Lawfare" suits

By Mike Huckabee

In a welcome court ruling, a federal judge in Philadelphia dismissed a lawsuit by two boys, ages 7 and 11, backed (some might say “used”) by environmental groups, against President Trump for rolling back Obama-era climate change regulations. The suit claimed that Trump’s decisions on how to deal with the issue violated their Constitutional due process right to a “life-sustaining climate system” and were responsible for their asthma and allergies (reminder: he’s been in office for only two years.)

Wrong statue

By Mike Huckabee

Here’s the natural end result of young people attacking history without bothering to learn anything about it first:  In Dunn, North Carolina, vandals poured a flammable liquid on a statue of General Lee and set it on fire.   Fortunately, it sustained only minor damage.  I assume they were too dumb to know that stone doesn’t burn.

That’s a fairly safe assumption, considering it also wasn’t a statue of Confederate General Robert E. Lee, but of World War II Gen. William C. Lee.  The two aren’t even known to be related.  And if the idiot vandals think of themselves as “anti-fascists,” trying to torch a statue of one of the planners of the D-Day invasion that led to the defeat of Hitler is a weird way of showing it.

All these “social justice warriors” managed to prove is that statues aren’t the only things that have heads made of granite.

Laura Ainsworth responds to a reader comment on her “Michelle O” prediction...

By Mike Huckabee

From Tom:

Well, I'd prefer Biden over Michelle, but let's face it, Michelle is much better than many other Democratic candidates who are so far left they make Vladimir Illyich Lenin look right of center.

I'll gladly vote for Trump over Michelle, but at least I don't think I'll need to immediately emigrate if she's elected. Most of the others would almost guarantee commencement of the final demise of the USA.

The election will turn on the Independents. We need to make sure that the malfeasance of the Obama-legacy FBI-DOJ-CIA incumbents is out there constantly for the independents to see. The rest of us conservatives already know how President Obama's appointees bent, broke, or trashed Constitutional protections.

From Laura:

I’m with you on your third paragraph. But...

"Tidying Up"

By Mike Huckabee

Kudos to the Netflix show, “Tidying Up.”  The series that helps people declutter their homes is being credited with a big spike in donations to local Goodwill stores.  That’s also good news for those of us who like to go to Goodwill and buy a lot of fun stuff to clutter our homes with.

Bernie 2.0

By Mike Huckabee

Sen. Bernie Sanders made his entry into the 2020 Democratic Presidential race official yesterday with a pair of interviews that were frankly sad for the way they illustrated how far off the leftward cliff the Democratic Party has leaped.

Just a few years ago, Sanders made many populist points that sounded similar to some of Trump’s points, about both parties being beholden to Wall Street and ignoring the problems of working Americans.  He was even realistic enough to admit that “Medicare for All” would be too expensive to implement.  You could easily imagine that after Trump’s win, he might have even sought out Trump to work on issues of mutual agreement.

Sadly, Trump’s victory sparked the “Resistance” epidemic and the mental hysteria that’s gripped the party ever since.  Democrats were so furious at Trump for beating Hillary Clinton that they absolutely refused to work with him or even acknowledge that he's President. They took their mindless opposition so far that they now reflexively oppose anything he supports, even building a border wall they once voted to fund.  In the midterms, they elected politicians so radical, they couldn’t even applaud a child who beat cancer if she was introduced by Trump.

RIP Peter Tork

By Pat Reeder

The sad duty of writing celebrity obituaries often falls to me, but this one is particularly hard. Thursday, the family of Peter Tork of the ‘60s TV-created band, The Monkees, announced that he had died at 77 of a rare form of cancer known as adenoid cystic carcinoma which he had been fighting since 2009. He is the second member of the band we’ve lost; Davy Jones died of a heart attack in 2012.

Evening Edition - February 21

By Mike Huckabee

A wrap-up of all the news you might have missed yesterday!

Daily Verse (KJV)

"Can a woman forget her sucking child,
that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb?
yea, they may forget,
yet will I not forget thee.
Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands;
thy walls are continually before me."

– Isaiah 49:15-16
