Today's Edition: 8 minute read

Keeping track of openly anti-Semitic Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar’s convoluted marital history is almost as hard as keeping up with the players in the “Trump/Russia” investigation. And now, in what appears to be a case of marriage/immigration/loan fraud and perjury, it’s gotten even more complicated, just as critics zero in on the question of whether or not she married her own biological brother.
Rep. Omar has reportedly just split from her on-again, off-again husband (and non-brother) Ahmed Hirsi, whom she first married in a religious ceremony in 2002 and divorced in 2008, and she now lives husband-free in a penthouse apartment in one of Minneapolis’ trendiest neighborhoods. (What a coincidence: Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is living in one of the trendiest areas of Washington, DC; funny how those high-minded and non-materialistic socialists gravitate to trendy digs and expensive designer clothes. I digress.)
The DailyMail caught up with Hirsi and asked him about their relationship, but he shed no light on the story. In fact, he said, “Wow, I can’t comment on that. I’m sorry, I just can’t say anything.
With gratitude,
Mike Huckabee

Analyzing the "Green New Deal"
By Mike Huckabee
The Competitive Enterprise Institute just released a new study analyzing the cost of the Democrats’ “Green New Deal,” and it makes the previous $92 trillion-over-10-years estimate look like a drop of organic hemp oil in the bucket. The CEI estimates that in the first year alone, it would cost the average American household at least $70,000. Over the next four years, it would cost $45,000 per household annually, for a five-year total cost of a quarter million bucks per family. The good news: after that, the cost would drop to only $37,000 per year.

And here’s something neat: On the state level, the Green New Deal would cost so much money, we have to use a math term you probably don’t even know: “quadrillions.” A quadrillion is one thousand trillions. For instance, upgrading all the residential, industrial and commercial buildings in Pennsylvania to AOC’s strict environmental standards would cost $2 quadrillion, or 2,000 trillion dollars. That’s a 2 followed by 15 zeroes: $2,000,000,000,000,000. The good news is that it would be cheaper for less densely developed states. For instance, it would cost New Mexico just $352.8 trillion, which is only about 16 times the current national debt.
I don’t see what’s so environmentally-friendly about having to cut down every tree on Earth just to print enough money to pay for this boondoggle. Read more details at the link. It will make you suspect that the greenest thing about the Green New Deal is the color your face will turn when you see the bill.

##Appellation##, I wanted to make sure you also read these comments
Many of us were disappointed, to say the least, that a federal judge dismissed Catholic school student Nicholas Sandmann’s defamation lawsuit against the Washington Post. But if it helps cheer you up, at least some experts believe that if Sandmann’s attorneys appeal, they have a good shot at winning.

What do you know? So it turns out that pursuing money, career and hedonistic physical pleasure rather than a solid relationship and a family can leave women feeling depressed, disappointed and alone? That would have been a good thing to realize before turning the promotion of selfish bad decisions into a major media sensation influencing countless young women.

This is a great reminder that while our so-called elite leaders can’t seem to do anything but point fingers and rant about rats and racism, everyday Americans are out there doing great things to help others. I’m especially proud that this story is about a family of Huck’s Heroes from Fort Smith, Arkansas.
It was bad news when Payless Shoesource announced that it was closing all its US and Puerto Rico locations, but good news for shoppers like Carrie Jernigan, who took her kids to the mall to snag some clearance sale shoe bargains. Her young daughter spotted some shoes that she knew a classmate would like, and she knew his shoes were too small, so she asked her mom if they could buy those for him. Touched by her daughter’s kindness, Carrie had an idea. She asked the manager what it would take to buy out the remaining inventory for kids whose parents couldn’t afford new shoes.
Click the link to see how the idea grew and spread through Payless employees, friends on Facebook, local churches and businesses, all somehow ending up with Carrie and her family in possession of about 1500 pairs of kids’ shoes and organizing a special event at the school gym to provide new shoes and school supplies to underprivileged kids in the community.
By the way, it’s not until August 10th, and they could still use donations, if you’d like to show a little support for Americans who step up and get things done on their own with asking the government for help. Look at it this way: every little donation to them helps send a message that Americans don’t really need Congress to come back to Washington anytime soon.
