Investigative reporter Lee Smith, author of the highly recommended book THE PLOT AGAINST THE PRESIDENT, has a new must-read installment on the George Papadopoulos case, based on newly declassified FBI memos finally released under the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA).

Recall that Papadopoulos spent 14 days in prison after taking a plea agreement. In the sentencing memo that led to his imprisonment, attorney Aaron Zelinsky --- as it happens, he's also one of the four Mueller attorneys who resigned from the Roger Stone case in protest when Attorney General Bill Barr revised the outrageously punitive sentence they’d recommended --- along with fellow special counsel prosecutors Jeannie Rhee and Andrew Goldstein, accused Papadopoulos of telling lies that “undermined investigators’ ability to challenge the Professor [Mifsud] or potentially detain or arrest him while he was still in the United States.”

But now that the 302s [official notes] from their interviews with Papadopoulos have been declassified, we can see that the truth was just the opposite. Papadopoulos provided his interviewers with information that would have enabled them, in Smith’s words, “to confront Mifsud with conflicting testimony on a point of critical importance to the stated purpose of the Russia collusion investigation before the professor’s departure.” This was not even mentioned in the “statement of offense,” or plea agreement.

Instead, the Mueller attorneys lied about Papadopoulos, saying that “the defendant’s false statements were intended to harm the investigation, and did so.” His lies “negatively affected the FBI’s Russia investigation,” they wrote, “and prevented the FBI from effectively identifying and confronting witnesses in a timely fashion.” We know now from these 302s that the truth was just the opposite: Papadopoulos had been cooperative.

Papadopoulos told them when and where he thought they might be able to catch up with Mifsud. Smith doesn’t make this observation, but it seems to me that if the FBI didn’t take advantage of these opportunities, it’s because they CHOSE to leave him in the shadows and blame Papadopoulos for their failure to get him on the record. They were depending on the story of Mifsud’s contacts with Papadopoulos and his tale of the Russians having Hillary’s emails to serve as the “predicate” (legal justification) for opening “Crossfire Hurricane” and spying on the Trump team. (We now know that it was really the Steele “dossier.”) Better to leave Mifsud off in some foreign country and NOT involve him further in any official capacity. That’s my theory and I’m sticking to it.

Anyway, the FBI investigators/Mueller prosecutors (same crew) lied outrageously about Papadopoulos, and Inspector General Michael Horowitz calls them out in his report. Lee Smith’s report includes Appendix 1 from the IG report, showing that their “factual assertions” about Papadopoulos in the FISA warrant were inaccurate. Even then, "inaccurate" suggests they might have made a mistake; this was no mistake.

If you have the time, you might like to read the Executive Summary of Horowitz’s report.

Finally, as long as we’re talking about sneaky partisans masquerading as law enforcement officials, here’s an update on Amy Berman Jackson, the judge who presided in the Roger Stone case and who has just decided that in spite of the outspokenly anti-Trump jury foreperson in his case (and her own extreme bias, displayed in her bizarre courtroom speech), Stone didn’t deserve a new trial. He absolutely does –- it should have been automatic –- and conservative media outlets are justifiably taking her apart. But it seems Judge Jackson isn’t taking criticism very well. I like what Judge Jeanine Pirro had to say about her reaction in a segment on Tuesday with Tucker Carlson. Go get ‘er, Judge!

I can’t believe what the FBI and DOJ has gotten by with. Judge Amy needs to go to jail for her actions, she knew that jury Forman was bias. She made sure she was in the position to influence the other jurors, this is breaking the law what is our country coming to? Can’t someone somewhere do something to stop this!

Governor what is scary to many of us out here who in our FBI allowed and did these terrible things? What was their main purpose to get in Hillary no matter how and to use what they have and what we pay them for out of our tax money? So many lives have been torn apart because of these lies and scams. What is our Deep State and who runs it? How are we the citizens to be protected when we are not? Very sad time for our country? See the Democrats daily attack this President with lies and set up scams like this whole Impeach debacle of the Ukraine and many of those people also were working for Hillary? The worse candidate ever as a woman never voted for her. No Russian had to tell me not to? How did Russia interfere what did they say and do ? No one says?

Just amazing how when you "politicians" LIE always get away with it and are never accountable. BUT if us "low life" American Patriots lie to the "federal government" we get thrown in jail and the key gets thrown away. Can you say HYPOCRITE??!!! How can you tell a "politician" is lying? Its lips are moving!!!!

In America it is not about solving crimes. It is all about convictions whether you did the crime or not. Prosecutors are about did they get the conviction so they get a better paying job with a law firm.

lies of the Mueller team are about to bite them...hard. I smelled a rat long ago. There are STILL far too many things that don't add up. This was a criminal enterprise and not a legal investigation. Malfeasance is hardly the word for what happened and some Mueller team members need to pay dearly. We are finding out that Mueller is NOT a man of honor, that shows up in the team he chose. He needs to be prosecuted for all his crimes, Bolger and who knows what else. The paragons of virtue appear to be Papadopoulos, and Carter Page.

Roger Stone, from what I've seen is a demonstrated act of pure stupidity. If anyone needs a jail cell, it is the prosecutors. Yes, the DOJ needs a housecleaning as Judge Jeanine says. 7th floor of the FBI needs to be in GITMO, they KNEW better and did it anyway. some SICK people in that floor

How do citizens tell MSM that they are disgusting at presidential press conferences? President Trump is leading the country to survive a possible corona virus epidemic. MSM is questioning him on nonsense attacking his strategy. If MSM has a better idea, they sure aren’t telling public what it is. Instead MSM is turning corona virus epidemic into a campaign issue.

The thing that gets me is they don't care if everyone sees how corrupt they are , the whole word sees this and nothing is done. Look at Harris , prosecuting people she knows are innocent and hides proof of that and shes not in jail . You have to wonder how many innocent people had there lives ruined by people like this . America has become more corrupt that third world countries , what a shame . What happened to our Constitution , Life Liberty and the pursuit of happiness , equal justice for all. There is a judge in Lackawana County Pa. tat when a troubles child comes before him is sent to a home weather or not it is needed because his friend owns the home , corruption no one seems to care about . I sat in traffic court one day , everyone's ticket was reduced to parking tickets by the DA different number depending on the offense . When the people came up in front of the judge it was a different amount per ticket depending if the judge liked you or not , when it came to a friend of his he said Johnny I know you will not do it again , have a nice day . Right in front of all that were left in the courtroom . Our judicial system has no checks and balances . Look at the people walking free Obama , Clinton's , Coomey . McDade and the rest of them and how about Biden bragging about his corruption on National TV . What happened to law and order in this country .

FBI lied? Is that a non-human entity? Yep, I know if we want to get to the bottom of the crimes, it will be a list of names, and each one chose or were ordered to lie by their superiors.

As a person who had a Top Secret clearance and a number of special accesses, I am continually amazed at how crooked the FBI and the DOJ became under the Obama administration and the fact that so many of these “attorneys”, who are actually proven criminals, are still allowed to practice and have not been indicted and tried. AMAZING.

Is anything going to be done with Obama appointed Judge Jackson. It seems to be more than obvious that she is very anti-Trump and anyone associated with him, like Roger Stone. I say the President needs to waste no time pardoning Stone, Flynn, Manafort, etc. Time to make up for the lack of justice in our two-tier system, where liars like McCabe, Comey, Brennan, Hillary, ECT. Pardon all the Trump associates. The phony, hypocrite Democrats are going to complain no matter what, so time for the President to reverse course against the Dems and the Judge Jackson's in our country and sends clear message that these Obama appointed left liberal justices are not going to get away with their obvious bias. Can Judicial Watch or a Republican with a spine (if there are any) or someone intervene and overuse this Judge Jackson? She should be removed from the bench, but then so should any others Obama appointed as his goal and agenda to fundamentally transform America! ( Next election- VOTE Republican in every election and evict the Democrats, even if one is running for dog catcher! Can't afford to have a Democrat in any position!)

Mike, do you realize that just about EVERY every newsletter you put out an indictment against the hypocrisy of the Democrats' impeachment of President Trump? I say that because, IN your articles, you show time and again how a lie was paraded...and truth!!!....

And WHY this fact IS an indictment against the Democrats goes back to "the same old same old" reasoning that I have expressed MANY times ...and will KEEP expressing...which is THAT......what is destroying this country....and, yes, again, our the violation of the Godly values this country was founded on and which PENNED the Constitution!

At every turn this country is making a mockery OF those Godly values OF truth vs vs the hatred OF Godly values that is now robbing Americans of their freedom of speech and thinking nothing of killing GOD'S unborn babies and telling the world that our GOD lied when He stated that homosexuality was an abomination to Him!

Without minimizing the many, many people who DO read these newsletters, my prayer is that God will use them to, in some way, OUTSHOUT the godless media and that President Trump will come to see how....from a SPIRITUAL perspective....
he (like I've said of our "friend" ) is also sitting on a "million -dollar" story. And I will say no more...for now!....

The more I read about our official alphabet agencies, the more they appear to be havens for organized crime.

It's past time to use RICO in the prosecution of many of the executives of those agencies. Time for forfeiture of all the benefits they have, and have shared, from their activities.

The government can make good any errors after everything has been straightened out. ( that's the normal way the law is applied, isn't it? )

As I have written before on your comment page, I have been in the courtroom all my work life as a state court reporter and the last 20 years as a federal court reporter. I can only say in all that time, I HAVE ALWAYS seen the ruling on the Motion for a New Trial by the court go before sentencing of that court. Sentencing first before the ruling on the motion, presupposes that the court has already made up their mind and can't wait to get to the sentencing fast enough and the hell with the defendant's right for a ruling first on his motion! I have read all the info on the biased juror, and Stone deserves a fair and new trial by an unbiased court and unbiased jury!

Liars appear to be acceptable in Washington circles.
At a very young age I adopted truth-telling as the only
way to go after threat of mouth washing with Mom's
homemade lye soap! To renew the time-honored
virtue of truth-telling, let's fill both houses of Congress
with Republicans and re-elect President Trump.

It’s truly alarming that FBI has been exposed as a corrupt, anti-American agency which apparently is full of slyly subversive entities who trap their prey in falsehoods wickedly crafted for such criminal purpose.
Apparently FBI learned well from study of other secret police organizations elsewhere on planet earth.

Here is where impeachment should be enacted. The Constitution states that judges serve under "good behavior", at this point her behavior is an impeachable offense but I doubt anyone in congress has the cajonies to file on her!

I sincerely believe that if public persons ( elected and unelected ) lie to us The citizens of this country and it is proven they should be put on trail and if found guilty sent to supermax prison. As far as I am concerned that is an attempt to over throw a elected gov. and that is treason.

For years Meijers stores have been monitoring the skills of the check out employee. How many customers ? How fast are items scanned ? Does the item have to be scanned more than once ? And this print out is used in employee review So ... the USA needs to borrow this computer tracking program -tweek it - and start tracking our judges . Let’s see how “fair” and how well “justice” is served.

Why is it that the Democrats can arrest someone on CNN live with just the presumption of lying to the FBI, but Republicans can't do anything but circulate FOIA documents that prove guilt beyond a shadow of a doubt with absolutely no action?
