It’s only March, and I think we already have a winner for the title of “Bonehead of the Year.” And this is something so stupid, it might even put him into contention for a Darwin Award. After being exposed to the coronavirus, this New Hampshire man not only didn’t self-quarantine, he went to a mixer near the Dartmouth campus. Let me repeat that: a MIXER! Now, he has the coronavirus, as does someone who came in close contact with him, and authorities are trying to track down everyone who was at the event. He’s now been officially ordered by the state to remain in quarantine. A state spokesman said, “The individual is complying now.”
Have I not impressed upon you yet just how stupid this person’s behavior was? Then add this: he works at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, and it was a mixer for medical workers and students!
To give this person some reading material while he’s stuck at home, here’s today’s Instapundit round-up of the latest coronavirus news, the seriousness of which I hope penetrates his skull:

Speaking of self-serving people and the coronavirus, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has been accused of holding back a bill to provide funding to fight the disease while the Democrats were using the issue to run ads against seven Republicans on Super Tuesday. Also, House Democrats are trying to attach a controversial pet health bill to coronavirus funding. Nice to know they have priorities.

I always say if you’re going to pay attention to politics, you might as well learn to laugh about it. So in that spirit, here are a couple of brutally funny takes on Super Tuesday, from Derek Hunter…

…And the defiantly and hilariously unfiltered Kurt Schlichter.

Scientists at the University of New South Wales believe they’ve discovered why women generally live longer than men (and no, it’s not because wives eventually kill their husbands for never wiping their feet before they come in the house.)
They think it’s because women have XX chromosomes, and the extra X chromosome gives them a sturdier cell structure that protects against the degenerative effects of aging. Men have XY chromosomes, which makes them more susceptible to gene mutation and sickness.

These scientists should win a Nobel Prize, but instead, I predict that they’ll be hounded out of academia for suggesting that only women have XX chromosomes, or that having XX chromosomes means you're a woman.

Fun Video: Watch MSNBC “journalist” Katy Tur be gobsmacked when a Hispanic man in East L.A. tells her in Spanish that his daughter is voting for Trump. She seems incapable of comprehending why this “stubborn 10 to 15%” of Latinos support Trump when they could return to that wonderful era of Obama-style Democratic rule and lose their new, good-paying jobs.

While most of the media were trumpeting the “Joe Biden surge” on Super Tuesday, the least-reported story of the day is one that should be throwing a panic into the DNC. The media also ballyhooed the Dems’ high turnout, which is to be expected considering the hard-fought, heavily (and expensively!) promoted battle. What they are studiously ignoring is this:
On the Republican side, despite Trump being an incumbent with no serious challenger, which usually means low turnout, voters came out in droves to show support. Support for Trump was not only huge in red states, it broke several turnout and vote count records in swing states and blue states. As Kayleigh McEnany at The Hill writes:
“In Vermont and Minnesota, Trump’s vote totals beat every past incumbent’s total in the last four decades. In Maine, the president’s vote total bested every primary candidate’s total since before President Ronald Reagan. In Massachusetts, the story was similar, with Trump aggregating a higher vote total than past incumbent Republicans since before Reagan.”
Again, he was basically running unopposed, which usually means fewer people even bother to vote. This stunning Trump turnout even in non-red states bolsters the studies by Trump’s campaign that show surprisingly large percentages of Trump rally attendees are Democrats, Independents, blacks, Latinos and people who didn’t even bother to vote in 2016.
The media may be buzzing today about “Joe-mentum,” but the DNC might have to strap a rocket to Joe if they want to give him enough momentum to catch up to Trump in terms of voter enthusiasm.
------------------------------------
Side Note to Super Tuesday: Since Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez sneaked into the House by beating an incumbent in a primary where nobody but her supporters were paying attention, voters seem to be wising up to that tactic. AOC had endorsed three fellow “Squad”-like “progressives” in California and Texas in their challenges to more moderate Democratic incumbents. But you can’t fool all of the people all of the time, and things didn’t go as well for the mini-AOCs as for the original.
