Today's Edition

This Coronavirus is really having an impact on our lives. The stock market has been in free-fall because of the uncertainty of how many people will get sick and what it’s doing to all sectors of the economy, especially the travel industry. Cruise ships are empty, entire nations like Italy, are virtually shutting down, and flights are being canceled all over the world as well as major events being canceled like the South by Southwest Festival in Austin. At public events, I’m now noticing that most people prefer an elbow bump or a wave instead of the customary handshake. Here in our theater, I conduct a meet and greet with our audience after the show, and I’m finding that more of the audience prefers a simple hello rather than shaking hands as well, but I think it’s mostly because there are rumors about me—not that I have coronavirus, but that I have cooties.

The medical advice hasn’t been consistent in this. Some say not to worry, go on with your business and others say don’t travel at all and stay home. The one thing agreed upon is to wash your hands—a lot.

With gratitude,

Mike Huckabee

News you can use

If you’re having to keep the kids home from school because of the coronavirus closures, here are some tips from a homeschooling parent on all the learning resources you can access to make the most of that at-home time.

Note from “Huckabee” writer Pat Reeder: The public schools might be sorry they closed if enough parents try home schooling and see the results. My niece homeschools her two daughters, and they are great kids who excel in a variety of fields, both academic and extracurricular. If you’re worried about that “social distancing,” her older daughter, Nelda, just won first place in a national ballroom dance championship event in New York City (yes, I AM a proud uncle!) You might keep your kids home for the virus and decide to keep them home for good for the education.

Yesterday, I mentioned that I tried watching a little of Stephen Colbert, just to see how well his childish mockery of President Trump would come off without a studio audience clapping and hollering to tell us what the “funny” parts were supposed to be. The result was even more embarrassingly deadly than I expected. Apparently, I’m not the only one who thought that, since it took just one night of that horror for the networks to announce that the liberal late night “comedy” shows would go into reruns until further notice, rather than try to do new shows without their not-very-demanding human laugh tracks.

If liberals need a comedy show to tell them why they should hate Trump every night, they’ll just have to tune in Rachel Maddow.

This story could spell the end of a once-promising political career. On the other hand, since he’s a Democrat, I have two words for you to consider: “Marion Barry.”

Here’s something we could all use right about now: some great news out of Florida, for both parents and students:

Even the Washington Post has given Joe Biden’s campaign a “Four Pinocchio” dishonesty rating for its selectively-edited anti-Trump ad. Still waiting to see if that will be enough to make Twitter ban it, the way they ban conservatives for saying things that are demonstrably true but you’re not supposed to say them out loud.

Congratulations to a Member of the “Huckabee” Family! If you’re looking for a great way to kill time at home, check out this interview with our writer Laura Ainsworth in the venerable jazz magazine, “Cadence.” When she’s not doing her day job as a writer, she’s an award-winning singer of retro-style lounge jazz. In fact, if you really want to enjoy your self-quarantine, pick up some of her music at Naturally, she’s on vinyl LP, too!

And here she is, singing a great old Mills Brothers tune with Tre Corley and the Music City Connection on the “Huckabee” stage…

Reminder: Many small businesses and entrepreneurs are being hurt by all the coronavirus shutdowns. If you’d like to help your local businesses survive, remember that many of them have online stores where you can purchase products for delivery. Or you can buy gift cards from local businesses and restaurants now and use them once this is over.

Bible Verse of the Day (KJV)

"And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house."

Mike, you're the best! You interview the broadest spectrum of guests and let them talk without interrupting them because your comment is more important. You are constantly the voice of reason in a sea of crazies and liars. Your current show is great! Keep doing what you do best. God bless you and your wonderful family!!

Well, I will have to comment on the Home Schooling! Now days, it is the best way to go. Although I think you make a lot more lifelong friends in the Public Schools. I am still friends with the ones I graduated with in 1957 and I still treasure their friendship to this day and see them at every class reunion! But back to the Home School.....our two Grand-daughters were home schooled because at age 3 they started ice skating and that was the best way to go when age 5 came along. They continued and then in High School they went online to a very good home schooling located in Ojah CA. Then after the move here to TN one of them decided on Lipscomb U. and the other is now as of next year will be a senior at Belmont and both girls made the Dean's List. So I really do believe that home schooling is the way to go and is less expensive that the Private Schools that are around. Although I really do think if you are in sports, you only have the Public Schools, which to me is a shame, but what can you do?

The Greg Gutfeld Show on Fox News Channel Saturday nights is said to be a political talk show featuring 5 panelists including the show's host, Greg Gutfeld. To me, the show is great fun, filled with hillarious commentary on recent events. Last night's show was live and without an audience and very funny even without audience laughter. It's way better than watching any of the other late night shows or SNL. Check it out!! Set your DVR to record the show if it conflicts with something you can't miss. You'll find yourself laughing out loud (good for the immune system during these troubled days of coronavirus and flu). Stay well!

    Dear Mike Huckabee,
It might be up lifting to have people write in things that they see people do for others during this conronavirus time because of their belief in God.

My best friend of 60 years told me her little grand daughter who is turning 12 had to have her birthday cancelled due to her father being sick and the events they were going to go to being cancelled. The neighbors around her found out about it and that evening they snuck over and decorated the outside of their home so when the child woke up the next morning on her birthday the front yard would be decorated with all these birthday wishes. What a way to come together.
Blessings to you Mike/family and I love, love your show and newsletter.

Well the Coronavirus is NOT having an effect on my life. You see, i was diagnosed terminal 29 years ago and they told me there was no hope of survival. So I gave up following medicine and what doctors claim and started following natural nutrition. I've been taking natural supplements for three decades that eliminate bugs and viruses from my body. But be assured, BIG pharma does NOT want you to know you do not need them.
