December 29, 2021

Good morning! My staff and I are still officially "on vacation" until Thursday, but we don't want you to have to go cold turkey. You're getting enough of that from your Thanksgiving leftovers. So I wanted to share with you some quick takes on the headlines, plus some commentaries not tied to a particular breaking story. We'll be back to covering the day's news in more depth in a couple of days.

Our newsletter today includes:

  • Lie of the Year
  • Winsome Sears has a plan for Republicans
  • Prayer Tree
  • And Much More

This verse was recommended by Dolores M.

My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.

John 14:2-3 NIV

1. COVID Update:

The CDC finally yielded to science and all the industries like airlines that were shutting down due to short staffing, and they have shortened the guidelines for quarantining after testing positive for COVID from 10 days to five days. That also applies to people who had close contact with someone who tested positive.

2. Headline needs rewriting:

Our Surgeon General is understandably alarmed by a steep rise in feelings of helplessness, depression and thoughts of suicide among children, teens and young adults.

That headline, though, needs some rewriting. As Prof. Glenn Reynolds at Instapundit pointed out, all those mental health issues weren’t “triggered by the pandemic,” they were triggered by the government’s authoritarian “lockdown everything” reaction to the pandemic, even when dealing with schools full of kids nearly all of whom are basically immune to the disease.

At least the incredible damage wrought by the “expert” class’s wrongheaded overreaction to COVID is finally starting to be recognized, even by someone from CBS News. It’s too bad that CBS felt it had to censor its own reporter for speaking the truth, but having someone from that network grasp the truth and speak up about it is at least a baby step in the right direction.

3. A look at Trump's support for vaccines and the reaction to it:

A lot has been made in the media of a crowd at a Trump rally actually booing when Trump promoted vaccination. He’s also been criticized for reacting too nicely to the Biden White House giving some faint credit to the “previous Administration” for developing the vaccines, when they couldn’t even bring themselves to mention his name. This is a good article about the disconnect between Trump’s support of the vaccines and the suspicion of them by some of his supporters. It’s pretty fair and balanced in putting it into context.

4.  Winsome Sears has a plan for Republicans:

Virginia’s Lt. Gov-elect Winsome Sears has been out of the spotlight for a while as she prepares to assume office, but she recently gave an interview to the New York Times, and what she had to say must’ve left the Times’ liberal editors shaking and reaching for their Maalox. She laid out how she thinks Republicans should counter the Democrats’ politics of racial division head on and defuse their stranglehold on minority voters by showing that you don’t have to support the Democrats, even if it’s against your own best interests, just because you’re a particular race.

The more I see of this lady, the more impressed I am. I think she has a terrific future in GOP politics. Here’s my exclusive interview with her on TBN, right after her historic win.

5. “Worst Quotes of the Year”:

The Media Research Center compiled its “Worst Quotes of the Year” from so-called news professionals. I don’t think I need to add “Spoiler Alert” before I tell you that #1 was a tie, and they both came from people at CNN.

Images of America's cities, landscapes and people.

7. “Lie of the Year” for 2021:

The Washington Free Beacon also chose its “Lie of the Year” for 2021, awarding “Four Bill Clintons” to President Biden for his promise, “I will shut down the virus.”

Technically, that was a campaign promise, so it’s actually from 2020, but most people didn’t really know how big a lie it was until after he’d been in office for a year or so. They should have, however. Throughout 2020, Democrats like Biden tried to paint the virus as Trump’s fault, every death from it as his personal responsibility (some even claimed he wanted people to die), and his inability to cure it as proof that he was uncaring and incompetent.

That was, of course, all cruel, divisive, slanderous nonsense, and anyone who thought about it at all knew it at the time. I repeatedly pointed out that no President could possibly stop an airborne virus from entering America and spreading (Democrats claimed he couldn’t even keep illegal immigrants out of America, then fought to stop him; and when he tried to keep virus carriers from China out of America, they fought to stop him from doing that, too.) Nobody is to blame for this virus spreading around the world. Well, China, but we’re not allowed to say that, for some reason.

Of course, now that he’s the guy in charge, Biden has finally admitted that nobody, not even a President, has the power to keep a virus out of the country and there is no federal solution to the pandemic, just as Obama was eventually forced to admit that there were no “shovel-ready jobs” after we spent nearly a trillion dollars to create them.

Even though Biden took office at a time when vaccines had just become available and we'd learned a lot more about COVID and how to treat it, there have still been more deaths under his tenure than under Trump’s (over 420,000 so far compared to 402,269 under Trump.) But I wouldn’t blame Biden personally for those deaths, although I do believe that this Administration’s open hostility to virtually all potential therapeutic treatments in its single-minded obsession with vaccination hasn’t helped. In fact, Sen. Rand Paul blames Dr. Fauci’s negative attitude toward therapeutic treatments for thousands of deaths every month.

And the government’s isolating lockdown policies and mandates that have contributed to rising depression, suicides and drug addiction are a separate lethal issue. But no, I don’t think it’s Biden’s fault when someone contracts COVID.

That said, it’s a stone cold fact that there have been more COVID deaths under Biden than under Trump. The fact that someone on CNN insisted that that’s “fake news” and those numbers are “completely wrong” is just further verification that they are accurate.

8. Prayer Tree:

We are stronger together.

Our hope is that our newsletter readers and social media followers will consider these prayer requests each day.

"Pray for a hip replacement for me, a 76 -year -old woman who has been waiting in pain for two years and working with many Drs. Surgery has been delayed again and again because the Doctors are being denied access to operating rooms and hospital beds supposedly due to Covid. Please pray for health care workers and for patients everywhere living in pain awaiting surgery."

"Please remember me in your prayers as I am struggling with Diabetes. Thank you and God bless you."

"Pray for my son, Stephen, who has gone through a divorce and is very depressed."

"My son Ryan who is suffering from an addiction. Pray for His marriage and his healing. They are both good and godly people who are trying to overcome. Thank you in advance."

"Pray for Dale who had to undergo open heart surgery on Tuesday morning in SA TX. Also pray for support for his family and all the medical professionals who will be treating him.

Today's hymn is recommended by Dona F.

1. O soul, are you weary and troubled?

No light in the darkness you see?

There’s light for a look at the Savior,

And life more abundant and free!

Turn your eyes upon Jesus,

Look full in His wonderful face,

And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,

In the light of His glory and grace.

2. Thro' death into life everlasting,

He passed, and we follow Him there;

O’er us sin no more hath dominion--

For more than conqu’rors we are!

3. His Word shall not fail you--He promised;

Believe Him, and all will be well:

Then go to a world that is dying,

His perfect salvation to tell!

I just want to make this comment about the covid vaccine. It is true that a fair amount of people have had adverse reactions to the vaccine that resulted in death. This is tragic but, we also have to take into consideration that this is going to happen even with some older vaccines. For example, the tetnus vaccine, or polio vaccine, have been around decades. How many people died from those vaccines and possibly still do today. There are always going to be people whose body will not tolerate some vaccines. I was really scared to take the covid vaccine, but my age and some respiratory problems prompted me to go ahead and get it. I do not think it should be the governments right to force the vaccine on anyone. That takes away our freedom. I have not yet taken the booster and I am not sure I will take it. I am having my PC physician to do antibody test to determine if my immune system is good enough to fight the virus off should I get it even though I am fully vaccinated. I understand that President Trump has had the booster shot and that is good.

Joe Biden comes as no surprise he can not fix anything his entire life has been filled with backward, upside down, inside out, thinking always the opposite of Correct, Good, built with Pride, with the exception of gains by immoral means dishonest means or old fashion corruption. Biden is a sleasy person he will smile to your face shake your hand pat you on the back then stick a knife in your back steal your wallet watch rings whatever will bring a value for him he will do this with countries friends anyone except some bigger or smarter than him remember he had the US Government behind by his side and in front of him most of his life without it he is just another low life coward not much more than a smash and grab punk.

Regarding the Owen's article and your comments. 1) What insight does Owen's have regarding how Trump gets his news? She seems to base much of this on Trumps age and "therefore" computer skills. Perhaps someone on his staff provides this information capability. She also seems to imply the internet is a more reliable source than traditional media. While the internet provides an "alternate source", it is inherently no more or less reliable than traditional media. Whether it's Huckabee or Maddow speaking, it's only the discernment of the hearer that can determine truth from fiction. The liberal audience believes the media as strongly as the conservative audience believes Huckabee. In short, Owens is simply portraying Trump as "well meaning" but "out of touch"; which I believe to be simplistic if not outright inaccurate.

Next elections, if they occur will be pretty bad I think. From what I can find out most on the right in Congress are anti- Trump and beholden to the left. I have taken to warning my military buddies in other lands what the Marxist left and right are doing as military papers are part of MSM

Candace Owen is DEAD WRONG. Trump might be 74 but is in GREAT SHAPE.
The Vaccines ARE safe. But forcing people to take them when even a Flu Shot might be dangerous for them is wrong.
Trump said they are safe he didn't demand people take them.
I stand with Trump NOW and WHEN he Wins AGAIN in 2024.
And nuts to the Western Journal. Some of these "Conservative" rags are NOT.

You have Donald Trump's ear, amiright? Would you please pass this message along to him: If you have had covid, you now have NATURAL IMMUNITY! Please be reminded that there was not nor is there going forward any reason for you to take any kind of covid vax or booster of any kind, you or Melania. You and your family have nothing to fear now. Please consider what you say about the vax going forward, and promote more of the treatments (from which you also benefited). This is where Fullafauci (my personal nickname) and Biden Inc. are both failing! Thank you!
