BIBLE VERSE OF THE DAY

Here's Where We Are Right Now On Election Reform

By Mike Huckabee

Democrats in the House are getting ready to force some radical changes to election law in America, as part of what Laura Ingraham has termed a “multi-pronged assault on the GOP’s ability to win back Congress, or maybe even the White House, ever again.”

I refer to the atrocious House Bill 1, which is the left’s way of micromanaging their idea of “fair” elections by putting federal officials in charge of what constitutionally should be left to the states. That's right, everything the Constitution has to say about elections gets to be revised by Nancy Pelosi, AOC and the rest. Heck, maybe Texas will start a lawsuit in protest, as they did with certain states that hadn’t followed the Constitution, and other states will join it. We’ve seen how much good that does.

But a few states are trying to fight back individually with legislation of their own. As reported in the TAMPA BAY TIMES, Florida Republicans are considering limiting the validity of vote-by-mail requests from two election cycles to one. They also want to restrict the number of ballots that one person can bring to a drop-box. There’s the expected resistance, and accusations of “partisanship.”

And according to an NPR report (which, being NPR, refers matter-of-factly to Republicans’ “false claims” of election fraud), Georgia Republicans are trying to get rid of early voting on Sundays, limit the number of drop-boxes, and require I.D. for absentee ballots. (Those radicals!) Their bill passed the Georgia senate on Tuesday.

One part of the bill that I particularly like prohibits county elections offices from directly accepting outside funding. Recall that the Center for Tech and Civic Life --- funded by Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg --- and the Schwarzenegger Institute gave them millions of dollars and, in return, were given input on how the 2020 elections were run.

In a move that should surprise no one, the Georgia secretary of state, Brad Raffensperger, withheld support for the measures, calling them “merely reactionary to a three-month disinformation campaign.” As Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan pointed out on Ingraham’s show, it was this secretary of state “who entered into a consent decree with the Democrats before the election, bypassing the legislature where, constitutionally, you’re supposed to make election law.”

The House Oversight Committee held a hearing Wednesday on the US Postal Service that dealt in part with the issue of mail-in ballots. After ranking member Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan spoke about the problems, Democrat Rep. Gerry Connolly of Virginia called what he had said “gaslighting,” and he condemned Donald Trump as well, for "sowing distrust" by saying last summer that mail-in voting would lead to massive fraud. Still, what happened after November 3, Jordan said, was exactly what had been predicted: that Trump won on election night, there was “chaos and confusion” surrounding the mail-in ballots, and they kept counting and counting for days until Biden was declared the winner.

At the moment, it’s in Arizona that we’re seeing the most consequential fight, and it’s headed –- for sure this time –- to the Supreme Court. The state attorney general, Mark Brnovich, was involved in six lawsuits last year, successfully suing to prevent mail-in ballots from being sent to everyone in Maricopa County. A few days after the election, he wrote to the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors to urge them to more than double the hand audit. And when the Arizona State Senate demanded that supervisors turn over Dominion voting machines for inspection, he filed an amicus brief. In other words, he’s on this.

And Brnovich is not letting up. Oral arguments before the Supreme Court are scheduled for March 2 in a case that impacts the efforts cited above by Florida and Georgia to try to take their own measures to combat election fraud. He's battling the DNC. He’s also had to deal with a Democrat secretary of state.

This lawsuit –- originally two separate suits but later consolidated into one –- involves two Arizona laws that were passed before the 2016 election to discourage election fraud. One law says that if a ballot was cast in a precinct that doesn’t match the voter’s home address, it is to be discarded. The other law bans ballot harvesting, with appropriate exceptions for close family, household members and caretakers. The DNC sued over these laws, citing –- take a guess –- racism.

Under Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act, a “substantial” disparate impact on a particular race must be shown to prove racial discrimination. No evidence of this has been presented. Of course, that doesn’t stop the left, who don’t need evidence to believe that virtually everything has a disparate impact on black people.

Specifically, the district court found that the out-of-precinct restriction had no impact on 99.9 percent of non-minority voters and 99.8 percent of minority voters. (I wonder how they arrived at this, as ballots don’t identify a voter as “white” or “black.”) Even so, the DNC now wants a definition for the word “substantial.” I am not kidding.

As for the ballot harvesting law, the DNC failed to find any evidence of racial discrimination. And 19 other states have similar laws. Also, most states already require voters to cast their ballots in their own precinct.

Ten senators, not surprisingly led by Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas, filed an amicus brief in support of Arizona. The Trump administration did this as well.

"This is a key decision,” says Rachel Alexander at POLITICROSSING, “because if laws like this can be struck down for being racist, you could make the argument that a lot of election integrity laws could be struck down as racist." For example, if it were determined that a requirement for extra poll watchers was associated with a slightly reduced turnout for blacks, even a statistically insignificant one, that could be considered a "racist" law. Goodbye, poll watchers!

I would add that in such a case, it’s not even possible to determine statistically a cause-and-effect relationship between the poll watchers and the voting pattern. It’s only a correlation, and a teensy one at that. If the Democrats are allowed to do this, virtually all election integrity laws will be out the window.

Alexander says this is the most important issue we face right now. “The future of our country hinges on this decision,” she says. She knows Brnovich, having worked with him in the state attorney general’s office before he became AG. Read her full article to see what a hero he continues to be on this issue, in the face of what she calls “horrendous” social media attacks.

Believe it or not, the Supreme Court is actually going to hear a case on election law.

Seriously, Someone Take Away Grandpa’s Executive Order Pen

By Mike Huckabee

President Biden, who apparently wants to keep Americans locked up indefinitely “to stop the spread of COVID-19,” is rolling out the welcome mat for illegal immigrants who are carrying COVID-19.

The Great Reset

By Mike Huckabee

Under Trump, the border facilities where children were separated from adults (for their own safety, because some of those adults may be MS-13 gang members, drug dealers or sexual predators) were denounced as “children in cages” and by AOC, “concentration camps” where Trump kept children he “stole” from their parents (even though they were actually built under Obama.)

Under Biden, AOC says the exact same facilities are merely “not okay” but part of our immigration system that requires “bold reimagining,” like getting rid of ICE and the Department of Homeland Security and creating a “climate refugee” category (i.e., we have to let people into the US because of the weather.)

To quote Bob Dylan, you don’t need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows in Washington.

Leftist Censorship Update

By Mike Huckabee

Amazon has yanked the book “When Harry Became Sally: Responding to the Transgender Movement” by Ryan Anderson from its sales website. Amazon claims the book violates their policy against “hate speech.” But as Daniel Payne at JustTheNews.com points out, there are several problems with that:

1. The book is in no way “hate speech.” It’s a serious examination, based on years of scientific research and data, of the contrast between the media’s positive depiction of “trans” people and the often sad reality of those living with gender dysphoria. It just presents facts that one side of the debate doesn’t want people to see.

2. Amazon’s policy says they reserve the right not to sell hate speech or “certain content, such as pornography or other inappropriate content." This book isn’t either one of those, either.

3. Amazon didn’t even tell the author that they were removing his book; he found out when people told him they tried to order it and couldn’t.

4. Amazon founder Jeff Bezos also owns the Washington Post, whose ludicrous free speech motto, “Democracy dies in darkness,” should get them yanked from the Internet for false advertising and misrepresentation.

If you don’t like having some socialist tech nerd with blue hair and a nose ring decide what you’re allowed to read, you can learn more about this book at the website of the publisher, Encounter Books, where you can also buy it and other conservative books direct and get 15% off your first order.

Two good things to remember when dealing with leftist oligarchs who think they have all the power: maintain your own websites so you don't have to depend on theirs, and support companies with your dollars that support freedom of speech.

McConnell Will Vote Yes On Garland

By Mike Huckabee

If Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell was concerned that his harsh criticism of President Trump didn’t anger the GOP base enough, this decision should clinch it.

Observation

By Mike Huckabee

2010 Woke-ism: “Breastfeeding is a beautiful and natural process, so how dare you be so sexist as to complain when it’s done in public places?!”

2021 Woke-ism: “Breastfeeding is ethically problematic because it could endorse a controversial set of values about family life and gender roles!”

So if I read that right (and who knows?), breastfeeding in public places is only good now if men who identify as women do it, too.

New Podcast

By Mike Huckabee

On this week’s episode of The People’s Podcast, Governor Huckabee speaks with Johns Hopkins University surgeon and Professor of Health Policy Dr. Marty Makary, who shares some good news on the coronavirus front and tells us why he’s optimistic we’ll have herd immunity by April. Plus, the Gov breaks down the Democrats so-called covid relief legislation, which is so loaded with pork it will raise all of our blood pressure.

Gov Huckabee: Politics is a rotten business and always has been during the past thousands of years, but the Democrat White House Administrative machine has hit a horrendous new low, when they take advantage of and abuse the elderly, for pure political purposes, in order to advance their scandalous and deleterious political programs and agendas onto the backs of the U.S. taxpayers and future generations to come.

Anyone seeing the Biden Press Conference on his most recent trip to Houston, TX, can clearly see that the current declared President of the United Sates of America is clearly not mentally capable of being responsible for his actions, words and sentences in the press briefing, much less being capable of carrying out any responsible actions in the required execution of the Presidential duties of the U.S.A.

The entire Biden Family, starting with Dr. J. Biden (his wife) should be totally ashamed of their inept responsiveness to properly care for and protect against allowing the Democrat White House Admirative cabal to use, abuse and take advantage of an elderly man, that clearly in the public view, is under severe mental strain, in just being mentally qualified to "walk on, speak and walk off" a staged press conference, much less carryout the coherent duties required of the U.S. "Ship of State".

The Biden family is totally abdicating its family responsibilities to properly care for their patriarch's current mental health and physical well being in his declining years, while continuing to expose him to untold amounts of horrendous ridicule and lack of respect for the office he currently occupies.

Don't agree, then you have not read the comment sections of everyday blogs. Even a sick animal is getting better response, as they are totally embarrassing to read!

For men who identify as women and want to breastfeed a baby in public. No matter how much you want to, no matter how much you demand your right to, no matter how much you think you can, consider this piece of sage advice: A man can breastfeed a baby in public when a rooster lays an egg in the park.

Mr. Huckabee, How can we as citizens protest to FB, Amazon, Twitter and all other social and oppressive media? I've had a thought of if someone would put a "No more censorship" logo together, we can all put that up as our profile picture. Then maybe they would know that we see what they're doing, don't like it and will vote with our wallets if need be. Just a thought. I'm feeling helpless

When are the good people in the country wake up and realize that we are losing America? Many of the good people in Germany realized in 1940 that they had lost their country but it was too late. We are at the Rubicon in America, we either stand up now or we lose.

I'm glad to hear that the scotus will be looking a a few election fraud cases, but the way they've been lately is not encouraging. Besides, there are many more serious points that need addressed, like machines connected to the internet, observers being kept at a distance, shredding ballots, etc. If there are no arrests, there will be no more Republicans elected again.

In thinking about Men who have identified as women breast feeding: the babies are going to get might hungry. Since Dems are so into science, it is a commonly accepted scientific FACT that males who identify as females cannot bear children no matter how many hormones they ingest. Without childbirth a woman will not product milk. Do you think there will be a movement to find a way to transplant uteri and ovaries? It is hard to believe that God would make this kind of mistake. Interestingly enough K. Jenner says she is still attracted to women so people call her a lesbian but she does not like that. The harm that is being done by introducing the concept of sex change to young children is on obscene. If little girls enjoy doing things boys like and visa versa, they will decide the want to change. Children are easily manipulated. In the past it was very, very rare that people wanted to become the opposite sex. Now, we see more of it because of ill advised “education”.

    Mr. Huckabee,
There are two thinks in today’s commentary that really concern me and I would like to hear what your answer might be.
First, based on all of the things I read from both you and others, the Democratic Party is systematically doing everything they can to totally change election laws/ rules and regulations to make sure that we, as Republicans or another party never again will be able to gain office in an election. They are “fixing” things so that they will always fall in their direction. We could run but unless there is an extreme failure on their (Democrats) part and they cross lines in an election, we could not win.
Seemingly, there is nothing we can do to even slow things down since they hold the majority in the House and are split in the Senate with our current “vp” holding the swing and deciding vote. Even the supposed conservative Supreme Court , refuses to take a stand on constitutional issues and runs away saying, “it has no standing for us to act upon.”
The other part of this is the current and seemingly unchangeable issue with our “press” (news, if want to call it that) who only report their slanted side of it.

Item two is the issue with Jeff Bezos, who owns Amazon and ? The Washington Post. It seems to me that there should be a legal issue with this. Is he a businessman or a newspaper man? Just because someone has money doesn’t give them the right to control both. Seems like there should be a monopoly issue here. He could use the newspaper to keep any business other than his from advertising in his paper.
We are in a situation where we don’t get the “Walter Cronkite” type of news reporting because the owner of the news doesn’t like one side or the other. We are seeing the same kind of baloney with Facebook, which was supposed to be a social meeting type of website. Mark Zuckerberg has enough money and influence that his business is so slanted that if certain words are used in a communication, it is fact checked and a banner is placed at the bottom saying this is partly incorrect.

Just seems to me at this point in time, we are doomed!

Help me know that there really isn’t a train rolling through the tunnel but there is a light at the end of it.

In your report on "Leftist Censorship Update" you quote Amazon's policy of not allowing “certain content, such as pornography or other inappropriate content." OH THE HYPOCRISY! Please understand I do not purchase or watch this trash anywhere or at all, but a 2 second search on Amazon for "pornographic movies" (yes, that's literally what I searched) yielded an embarrassing and disgusting amount of smut and sin. I get so very tired of the blatant and unending hypocrisy of the left.

I seen an article from the AP, that the Arkansas Mask Mandate ends Feb 28, unless the Governor extends it. I personally disagree with the mandate. I feel that we are capable of deciding on our own if we need to wear a mask. Do you think this will be extended, or will we be able to finally breathe again without feeling suffocated?
