As of this month, 536 pro-life bills have been introduced in 46 states, and 61 new pro-life laws have been implemented. While these laws are on hold pending challenges in federal courts and will likely be struck down, at least at first, Michael Austin at Western Journal offers some encouraging context:

In the 18th century, British abolitionist William Wilberforce spent decades proposing and passing bills banning slavery. He knew they would be struck down, but he was building momentum and public sentiment to help people realize that slaves were human beings and their government was wrong to rule otherwise.

Pro-life proponents believe these bills will serve a similar purpose. There are only so many times and so many ways that you can defend an obvious indefensible falsehood, like claiming that a child in the womb isn’t a child and can be murdered at will, before people start to recognize how horrible and wrong your argument is. And that’s when cultural change respecting the sanctity of all life finally happens.

We (my husband and I) are now great grandparents to 3 beautiful children. One is just 8 days old. To see those tiny fingers and toes, that cute little nose and her silky dark hair melts our hearts. How can anyone destroy a new life so precious made in the likeness of God? Tell me they aren't a child! So sad that people can do such a thing. So sad.

Thankful for these bills! RIGHT TO LIFE-ers must continue to send the message of GOD given right to life to the Congress. We the people who believe must stop complaining and DO SOMETHING.
