European Trip Roundup

By Mike Huckabee

Joe Biden is still in Europe on his first trip abroad as President. I feel it’s my duty to report on how it’s going, but it’s too depressing, like being the announcer at the Hindenburg landing. So I’ll just direct you to a roundup of stories about how he’s doing and then avert my eyes and tiptoe quietly away. Oh, the humanity!...

Fighting Back Works, So Keep Doing It

By Mike Huckabee

For too long, leftist media outlets and corporations have believed they can make themselves look good by branding other people as racists and destroying their lives and businesses. Well, they’re finally learning that there are consequences to defamation, and victims of cancel culture are learning that they don’t have to roll over and apologize for nonexistent offenses. In fact, that’s the worst thing you can do; it’s like letting sharks smell blood in the water.

To lift your spirits, here are the latest examples of fighting back. First, the New York Times has surrendered to the Babylon Bee. The Times twice tried to slime the Bee by describing it as a rightwing misinformation site hiding behind the label of “satire.” Anyone with a sense of humor (which precludes leftists) can tell at a glance that the Bee is obviously hilarious satire. Maybe leftists -- who live in a weird bubble where the DNC talking points lectures of Stephen Colbert, Samantha Bee and John Oliver are considered “comedy” -- are so unused to having their own foibles mocked that they’re not capable of recognizing anything that’s actually funny.

Well, the Bee didn’t find defamation and false accusations to be funny, so they threatened a lawsuit. And the Times has backed down and issued a retraction.

https://redstate.com/tonykatz/2021/06/14/indianapolis-police-officer-sues-nfl-for-defamation-after-they-misrepresent-shooting-n396850

Ironically, the Times story accusing the Bee of being “misinformation” was filled with misinformation. I can’t think of any Bee story that contains more irony than the New York Times accusing any other outlet of trying to hoodwink people into believing fake news. And of course, leave it to the Babylon Bee to come up with the perfect satirical “fact checker” term for stories that liberal media outlets deny and censor until they turn out to be true: “False For Now.”

https://www.westernjournal.com/bob-ehrlich-years-mainstream-media-misreporting-babylon-bee-three-perfect-words-sum/

Second example: The NFL, where the players signal more virtue than plays these days, put out online statements honoring a black suspect who was shot by police and implying it was an example of racist police misconduct. But the shooting has been investigated and no charges were filed because it was found that the officer acted appropriately. The suspect was armed and fired two shots at the cop even after being tased.

https://www.foxnews.com/sports/nfl-lawsuit-police-officer-alleged-implication-criminally-killed-campaign-honoree

Now, the officer is suing the NFL for defamation. His attorney says those statements caused reputational harm to a hero who risked his life to arrest a dangerous criminal, and it’s false and unacceptable to accuse him of racism or misconduct. The attorney warned, “Before you accuse a police officer of misconduct, you had better get your facts straight.”

Third example: Popular game designer Scott Cawthorn was the latest victim of a Twitter cancel culture mob that targeted him after learning he had donated to various political figures that leftists hate, including Donald Trump, Kim Klacik and even sane Democrat Tulsi Gabbard.

https://pjmedia.com/news-and-politics/tyler-o-neil/2021/06/14/pro-trump-game-designer-gives-master-class-on-how-to-respond-to-the-cancel-culture-mob-n1454464

Cawthorn admitted the attacks were disturbing and frightening to his family (his wife is six weeks pregnant and doesn’t need the stress of doxing and death threats.) But Cawthorn refused to fall to his knees and give them the abject apologies that intolerant people with empty lives need to make themselves feel powerful.

He responded instead with a detailed and reasoned explanation for why he backed all those people. He said he knows those who are attacking him don’t want a discussion, they want “endless apologies and submission,” but they will get neither from him. He said, “I’m a Republican. I’m a Christian. I’m pro-life. I believe in God;” he doesn’t create games for money anymore but because he enjoys it; and “if I get canceled, then I get canceled.”

Except he’s not likely to get canceled because after issuing that statement, the hashtag “I stand with Scott” started trending on Twitter and many people who are fed up with cancel culture spoke up in support of him.

This is why I’ve always just laughed off the Twitter trolls. They’re like the little man behind the curtain in “The Wizard of Oz,” using their machinery to trick the gullible into thinking they’re great and powerful. The best way to deal with them is not to be frightened but to pull back the curtain and expose them for the bombastic posers that they are.

Jon Voight Speaks Out

By Mike Huckabee

One of the bravest men in Hollywood is Oscar-winning actor Jon Voight, whose astounding talent and stunning resume provide some armor against the cancel culture as he has become an outspoken patriot, Trump supporter, defender of Israel and critic of the left. He’s started filming commentaries on current events on his Twitter page (@jonvoight) and the latest is getting media attention. In it, he blasts the media for its bias and hypocrisy in making false accusations of racism against Trump and his family while ignoring the revelation of Hunter Biden’s emails containing the worst racial slurs.

There’s more on that story at the link. I’ll be asking him about that and other issues when he’s my guest next weekend on “Huckabee” on TBN, so mark your calendars now!

The Last Laugh on Cancel Culture

By Mike Huckabee

Kevin Hart is unquestionably one of the most popular comedians in America. He can fill arenas and his movies top the box office. But even he fell victim to cancel culture when his gig hosting the 2019 Oscars was canceled after Twitter mobs dug up some old “homophobic” jokes he’d tweeted years before. That’s why there’s no Oscar host anymore: the industry that lectures us on our lack of wokeness can’t find one performer who’s pure enough to satisfy the tiny band of raging Twitter leftists that they mistake for America.

Hart issued the typical groveling apology at the time, but that only encourages more attacks. It seems he’s figured that out because he’s now joined the rising group of Americans who are standing up to the crybullies. His new message to his ultrasensitive critics: “Shut the (bleep) up!”

https://nypost.com/2021/06/14/kevin-hart-slams-cancel-culture-cops-shut-the-f-k-up/

Hart has more to say at that link, and fellow comic Chris Rock also joins him in that sentiment, accusing cancel culture of creating “boring” entertainment.

One of the few truly funny things we’ve seen online recently was the viral video by the cop who pretended to call LeBron James for advice on how to peacefully deal with a knife-wielding maniac. For that, he was fired by his liberal bosses. But check out this video of him being hired on live TV by a much better law enforcement agency.

Apple Pie is now racist, especially with vanilla ice cream

By Mike Huckabee

Having already declared the American flag racist, and the term “mom” transphobic (the Biden Administration calls mothers “birthing people”), the Big Wheel of Random Oppression takes a spin and now comes to a stop on…apple pie! Yes, apple pie is now racist and oppressive and problematic! Also delicious with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top.

Reader Response

By Pat Reeder

As the person who does most of the proofreading of the newsletter, I’d like to reply to the kind lady who left a message complaining about the spelling of “everyday” as one word instead of two.

First, let me say that it warms my heart to know that anyone else out there still cares about things like grammar or punctuation in a world where colleges are trying to force students to use “they” as a singular pronoun. I was brought up on Strunk & White, and I read James Thurber’s essays on grammar for fun, so I get from where you are coming.

But in this case, I hate to inform you that you’re wrong. “Everyday” and “every day” have two different meanings. My nemesis, Google spellcheck, actually tried to change “everyday” to “every day” just yesterday, and I had to fix it manually.

From thefreedictionary.com:

“Everyday -- ordinary, commonplace, usual. ‘An everyday occurance.’

Not to be confused with: ‘every day – each day: ‘He brings me the paper every day.’”

My example might be, “’Every Day’ by Buddy Holly is not your everyday love song,” except that Buddy spelled the title “Everyday,” so go figure.

Anyway, thanks for reading so closely and for your call. I’ll try to make sure their are no obvious misspellings to irritate ewe.

Apple pie now Racist! I have to laugh and cry at the same time about this bit of news. I grew up in the 50’s and 60’s, saw the hippie era and the anti-war movement against the Vietnam war. Yet thru all that I can still remember baseball, hot dogs, ice cold coke out of a bottle and yes Apple Pie as good memories of America and the American way of life! Wholesome, Christian values and morals and a family was mom and dad and siblings! With left doing all they can to toss all those good things in the trash dumpster, I refuse to go that direction and I refuse to believe Apple Pie is racist. I suppose you can make anything racist if you really want to but how about we turn the tables on those who push this narrative and tell them to dishonor America and our values is racist and down right unAmerican. I fly the American flag everyday to show where I stand!

    @ Pat Reeder
I haven't used thefreedictionary.com since they redefined court packing to mean changing the balance instead of it's original meaning. May I suggest merriam-webster.com instead?

to Pat Reeder (great name and job match!): I am another person who is a stickler on grammar. The one common error that is to me the sound of nails on a chalk board is the use of the subjective case rather than the objective case in this sort of phrase: "He told John and I..." I always want to reach out and rap a ruler on the speaker's knuckles and advise that if he merely flipped "John and I" he would hear the error of his ways.

The Squad, Horrorwood celebrities, class valedictorians, and other Woker-Jokers need to turn loose of their "Allah-moods" and find something to fulfill their lives. Their "cancelling" is stirring up the rebellious, patriotic nature of many Americans.

I am glad the fighting back for the love of our country...and kiddos...has begun! Carry on! Let's look to the Lord and take back our country. He is on our side!

Let's not forget that marvelous song "Everyday" by The Oak Ridge Boys - who were mentioned in Saturday night's monologue. The Oaks culture will live on for a very long time! If I have to keep it alive myself. But then again, i know of numerous diehard Oaks fans on a grander scale than i that will keep their culture alive.

The Cancel Culture People (CCP) [Ironic, isn't it.] need to think twice about going down that path! American flags in the back of a pickup truck with Oak Ridge Boys music blaring does sound dreamy. Lololol!!!

Apple pie? Good grief, as Charlie Brown would say. I do think that somebody should remind the DNC that they kept segregation as an institution long past it’s sell by date as in 1865. The KKK were not Republicans. Remember Senator Byrd of WV. As has been said Capitalism is by no means a perfect economic institution and democracy has its issues but no one has found a better way as yet. Human nature is human nature and power does corrupt. At least with Capitalism, the average person has the ability to own assets and to grow wealth. People do not realize that. They will soon enough when they see their 401Ks and IRAs sinking because of a destroyed economy. It will take time. The sad part is that the very people that are now being affected most by increasing fuel prices and the cost of food are the lower middle class and the poor. This administration is CAUSING food insecurity.

PS: I don’t like the tipping construct, never have. We would be better off to pay a decent wage, add the additional cost into the price of services and pay incentives to good workers when they excel. I am a believer in profit sharing snd bonuses. It works. Rewarding good effort makes people feel good about themselves, tells them their contributions are acknowledged, and incentivizes them.

Speaking of spelling, grammar and the public schools, last year a teenager was standing by the road here, as part of a counter demonstration against a small, truly peaceful pro-BLM rally in town, holding a sign he had apparently made himself that said, "We [heart shape] Are police!"

I can not understand how someone that age (16 or 17) could possibly read a book, magazines or any reasonable number of printed items and not have learned the difference between "our" and "are"! He probably had to use the heart shape because he doesn't know if love is spelled l o v e or l u v.

Sorry I have not been on for awhile for some reason now and then you Gov end up in Spam? Oh well, See this trip for our Puppet President and his being laughed at not with? SAD! How do those around him not see he is not too well? WHY? Yet I am like if he had to step down we get this horrible VP Harris who is the worst ever. I am a woman no not black but sorry not just being a woman or black that has to be important but who is there to do the right job? Love if Condoleeza Rice or a Barbara Jordan both who would be great if President?
Language of Hunter coming out and if all of this is true then why is all of this on his computer being hidden away? Racism is so horrible and is totally dividing and no amount of race teaching is to change this? Being politically used to keep us apart and for the votes they believe they get by doing what they have now? SAD and we see people now being killed like Chris Cuomo said kill a few whites ? Not much said on the black on black weekly that happens WHY?
We not get all the lies that were set up and scammed for TRUMPS 4 years and yet no one is in jail for much of this and what the lib media was able to do and use to try to take us down? Now we face a horrible virus that more is being noted on who may have let this go like CHINA? Why so many shut down when they did not really have to. Many now lost business incomes and their lives? SAD? Why so much was put into the beliefs of one man and not by many around the WORLD and what they faced and did? How we could have better protected the most vulnerable the 60 plus and yes the rest get sick like a terrible flu? Now we all face a not very good economy and WHY? Why shut down our own fuel and let others do whatever like Biden accepting that Russia pipe line to Germany was okay WHY? Where is the media to ask and say WHY puppet President? We were doing so very well with President TRUMP until China released this VIRUS to the World but why? VOTERS wake up and ask why and what is being done per this racism and what is the purpose then to keep us separate ? All for their own purpose ? Something sure stinks in the apple barrel and why TECH wanted this puppet and shut down the Conservative view? Scary.
