Some Americans Are Standing Up For Cuba’s Communist Dictators

As brave pro-freedom protesters continue to rally in Cuba, some Americans are bravely standing up for Cuba’s communist dictators. For instance, it was noted that two years ago, the creator of the 1619 Project, who “don’t know much about history” (to quote the great Sam Cooke), proved she also don’t know much about anything else by praising the Cuban government for solving the problem of racism.

Nikole Hannah-Jones said, “If you want to see the most equal multi-racial democ--…It’s not a democracy — the most equal multi-racial country in our hemisphere, it would be Cuba.”

And she would be wrong (although kudos to her for actually recognizing that Cuba's not a democracy.) You’d think Cuba’s government would be colorblind and oppress all races equally, but even that isn’t true. As I noted this week, quoting an article at Townhall.com by Humberto Fontova, Cuba has imprisoned many more black political prisoners than apartheid-era South Africa and held them longer and under worse conditions than Nelson Mandela suffered.

Meanwhile, Black Lives Matter stirred outrage by praising Cuba’s communist government this week and blaming the US embargo for the Cuban people’s deprivations.

BLM tweeted that Cuba is being "punished by the U.S. government because the country has maintained its commitment to sovereignty and self-determination” and that Cuba has been an ally with "oppressed peoples of African descent" and protected "Black revolutionaries like Assata Shakur."

(Shakur, aka JoAnne Chesimard, was a convicted cop killer who escaped prison and fled to Cuba, where Fidel Castro granted her asylum as a thumb-in-the-eye to the US. In effect, she fled one prison for another.)

News flash to BLM: the Cuban people aren’t starving because the US won’t let them have food. They’re starving because communist systems always lead to decay, devolution and deprivation; and because, as the pro-freedom activists have made clear, if you’d bothered to listen to them, the dictators use food as a weapon, depriving people of it if they dare to protest. You know, like you’ve enriched yourselves by doing.

And this one by Antonio García Martínez, who delivers the shocking news to liberals who visited Cuba under Obama that they were duped by a fantasy and kept in “a Potemkin Air BnB” that bore no relation to the harsh reality of the lives of Cubans under a communist dictatorship. But then, American “progressives” must be used to living in reality-denying fantasy bubbles by now.

    Governor Abbott may seem like the kind of governor we all admire, but there may be a worm in that apple, rotting it from the inside. Ask Gov Abbott why he hasn't arrested runaway legislators who ran away from the legislative session but did not flee from Texas. They stayed inside Texas and are bragging about it. One example is Leo Pacheco, who happens to be my rep. And why has the governor not forced Dade Phelan, the speaker of the House to remove other democrat lawmakers currently denying quorum from their committee chairmanships and vice chairmanships, as well as seniority privileges and overall membership of key House committees. Phelan claims he cannot strip them of those positions, despite House Rules to the contrary.

    Despite tough-sounding promises on national TV by Gov. Greg Abbott, House Speaker Phelan has so far refused to authorize the detention or arrest of any Democrat absent from the proceedings of the House – despite several Democrats posting to social media that they are still in Texas, going to work, and attending events.

    That revelation came from State Rep. Kyle Biedermann (R-Fredericksburg), who was told by the Texas Department of Public Safety and the House Sergeant-at-Arms that they have not been directed to arrest no-show lawmakers.

    On the other hand, the speaker announced he is paying for a charted plane to land in D.C. on Saturday and wait for the Democrats to board. He asked them to please call his office so he can ensure their seat is reserved. Yes, seriously.

    Democrats responded with an emphatic “no” – and then said aloud what every knows: Phelan owes his speakership to the Democrat caucus. “There needs to be 76 members who decide who our next Speaker is, and more than 60 are not there.”

    Biden is importing the COVID 19 virus and spreading it thru out the country by allowing people from all over the world to storm this country with disease and people that will harm the citizens and illegal people these forces has no bounds everyone is at risk Biden has always been stupid and corrupt that will not change

    I don't believe these BLM raciest believe a word they're saying. If Cuba is so great to them I wish we could shove them in a boat, and send them straight to Cuba, and bring back the ones from Cuba who hate communism. If that would happen I would feel like God has sent a revival to America.

    to the Texas deserters: stay in the swamp where you belong. not that i want to add to that swamp, but unfortunately a few more won't make that much difference. and try to get a real job, like the rest of us. might be some openings in Cuba for more police to crush hopes for democracy. you could make a real difference by becoming poster children for your beloved socialism. (apologies and KUDOS to those politicians (on both sides) for whom representing the PEOPLE IS a real job. thank you! and no, representing planned parenthood, big tech, etc for a huge campaign contribution is NOT representing the PEOPLE.)

    It is true anything biden gets involved with turns to a toxic waste form sometimes the effects are instant and some take time like a septic system, that has been his best trademark mark for half a century. Having open borders has allowed covid to enter Texas and then put carriers on trains buses and airplanes to all parts of the country have to keep covid alive, biden, what a misfit not turning into a toxic waste has been for many decades as he likes to say period.....................

    As an active retiree this weekend I spent time with people that are not from my zip code or skin color and I have found that the MSM has put thoughts in their heads that makes no real sense to me, oh they have talking points, we were working for legal tender paid exactly the same so I took the floor for a few moments and asked a couple of questions most of the workers had traveled over an hour to our site and of course had to travel home I presented this a very simple point how much more did it cost you to drive here and move around the city, going to dinner and other eating and drinking reservations than it cost you last year? The thoughts and answers did not come out the rate of pay is the same as the year before so are you better financially today than last year. The simple answer I gave them was your earnings are buying you less and you are working just as hard while a year older how is this the right direction you want go. I could hears frogs croaking from miles away. I will give a little credit to them the idea didn't seem to have much merit. Working as hard for less money turned the low watt light bulb on, And we talked about something else.

    Thank you for your Bible verses. I enjoy them every day along with the pictures that show the magnitude and beauty of God's beautiful creation. Also a question after reading some of the news. Is the only way some men can get recognition and win awards is by being a "woman"? That is so insulting and disgusting, in my opinion, to women (also, men).
