1. DAILY BIBLE VERSE

2. Wiped out by Fox News:
What if the Democrats threw the year’s biggest pity party and nobody came? That’s exactly what happened Thursday when CNN and MSNBC went wall-to-wall on the Party’s January 6th orgy of self-righteousness, and 99.5% of Americans found something better to do with their time.
MSNBC pulled a total audience of slightly over 1 million viewers, while CNN drew less than 743,000. Even more pathetic, in their 25-to-54 target demographic, the two liberal channels pulled 136,019 viewers and 139,202 viewers, respectively. Needless to say, they were both wiped out by Fox News. To pour more salt on their wounds, the highest-rated show of the night was Tucker Carlson’s, the host they most revile for his skeptical reports on the January 6th violence.
This must be devastating to the Democrats since, as I’ve already pointed out, this is literally all they have to run on. They can’t point to a single successful policy they’ve instituted. Their biggest bragging point is passing an infrastructure bill, an underwhelming accomplishment considering they have the White House and both Houses of Congress. After promising big improvements, they’ve made everything they’ve touched worse: the border, crime, Afghanistan, gas prices, inflation, jobs, COVID, Russia, China, you name it. They’ve been reduced to “You have to vote for us because those other guys are evil insurrectionists! Just look at January 6th! LOOK at it, I tell you!!!!”
And now they find that nobody cares. As the writer Bonchie at Redstate.com notes, everyone agrees that what happened was bad, but it was a three-hour riot that took place a year ago, and everyone involved has been arrested (with a few suspicious exceptions), with many still rotting in jail under deplorable conditions with no charges yet filed. Meanwhile, many of the rest of us had to endure months of more violent and destructive riots that the Dems actively endorsed. No amount of media hysteria will convince us that this was another 9/11. Anyone with a functioning brain knows there was no “insurrection,” and there is no widespread effort by working class Republicans to overthrow the government in any way other than to vote these incompetent leftist whiners out of office as soon as is humanly possible.
The dismal ratings prove that virtually everyone sees through these melodramatics, and nobody wants to keep hearing the Dems cry about it for the next 10 months. We’ve moved on and are dealing with more pressing problems. What voters want to hear are concrete solutions. Considering how many of our problems have actually been caused by the Democrats, the failure of their last gasp January 6th narrative leaves them up the creek sans a paddle.
3. Follow-up to the Supreme Court arguments on the vaccine mandate:
Many conservatives were appalled not only at the Court’s seeming openness to allowing states to mandate vaccination, but also that the Republican-appointed Ohio Solicitor-General appeared to endorse that view.
That’s sparked a debate over whether he really meant it or was it a sloppily-phrased argument that needs to be corrected, or if he thinks the legislature has the power to pass such a mandate or the Governor already has the power to do it on his own (and if the latter is the case, then that power needs to be revoked immediately.) 4. RIP DIRECTOR PETER BOGDANOVICH

We’re sad to report that director Peter Bogdanovich has died at 82 of natural causes.

Bogdanovich was one of the first directors to come into the field from a background of being a critic, journalist and serious movie fan. He loved old Hollywood and was a friend and disciple of Orson Welles before they had a falling out. That would explain why so many of his movies harkened back to Hollywood’s Golden era, like the Depression-set “Paper Moon,” “The Last Picture Show” and the screwball comedy revival “What’s Up Doc.”
This didn’t always work out. For instance, he had a notorious bomb when he attempted to recreate the Fred Astaire/Ginger Rogers musicals with “At Long Last Love,” with Burt Reynolds and his then-girlfriend Cybill Shepherd. His devotion to authenticity had them singing live on set instead of to edited and sweetened tracks. The results were not pleasing to most audiences, but as I co-wrote “Hollywood Hi-Fi,” the book of bizarre celebrity recordings, and am a connoisseur of incompetent celebrity singing, I find it to be nirvana (or at least more fun to listen to than Nirvana. I even have the two-LP soundtrack album.)
After a string of flops, he made a comeback with such films as “Mask” and “Saint Jack.” A couple of other Bogdanovich films that are unjustly overlooked include his breakthrough low budget thriller “Targets;” “The Cat’s Meow,” inspired by a real-life shooting involving Charlie Chaplin, Marion Davies and William Randolph Hearst; and “They All Laughed,” an underrated romantic comedy starring his then-girlfriend Dorothy Stratten. After her tragic murder, he eventually married her sister.
He ended his career the way he began it, paying tribute to the great days of Hollywood’s past. One of his last films in 2018 was a terrific documentary on Buster Keaton called “The Great Buster: A Celebration,” which I highly recommend streaming. RIP.
5. Big Tech's attempt to reshape local media outlets:

Those who are furious that Facebook is censoring free speech and showing people only one side of the news, and that Mark Zuckerberg is using his money to tilt election results, might think they can simply avoid Facebook and rely on independent, local news sources. Guess again. Check out this must-read article by Victoria Taft on how Facebook’s Zuckerberg and other Big Tech leftist billionaires are trying to take over and reshape local media outlets the same way they took local election offices to tilt the 2020 election to Democrats.
6. Joy Reid at MSNBC:

I generally don’t like to comment on news before it happens, but it’s rumored that MSNBC might have had enough of Joy Reid’s combination of leftwing partisanship and outrageously false misinformation, and her days at the network could be numbered. Personally, I’ll believe it when I no longer see it. I find it hard to believe that being a blatantly biased leftwing liar could actually get you fired from MSNBC. But maybe it could if you're one of those who also has low ratings.

It’s not just Hispanics who are turning away from the Democrats. A Pew poll shows that since July, Biden has lost support twice as fast among Asian-American voters as among whites (and he’s not exactly setting the woods on fire with whites.)

This isn’t surprising. Both Hispanics and Asian-Americans are hard-working, patriotic Americans with traditional values who are repelled by the radical socialist, secular turn of the Democratic Party and its depiction of America as an evil pit of racism and victimization.
Asians are also inconvenient for the Democrats since their success in school and business belies the party’s “systemic racism keeps minorities down” mantra. They’ve tried to get around that by simply pretending that Asians aren’t a minority group and openly discriminating against them in college admissions, which also isn’t exactly endearing them to Asian voters.
8. RIP SIDNEY POITIER

We are sad to report that Oscar-winning actor, director, author, entrepreneur, activist and diplomat Sidney Poitier died Friday at 94. His native Bahamas announced that its flags will fly at half-staff in his honor.

Over his long career, Poitier racked up an incredible list of honors and firsts. A groundbreaking figure, he was the first black leading man to star in movies for general audiences, the first black Oscar winner in a leading role for “Lilies of the Field,” and the first black actor voted as the #1 star by theater owners in 1967. Some of his many classic films include “A Raisin in the Sun,” “The Defiant Ones,” “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner,” “In the Heat of the Night” and “To Sir, With Love.” His countless honors include the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
Along with his many successes, Poitier also had to deal with attacks from both sides of the racial divide, facing housing discrimination and threats from the KKK and criticism by younger black filmmakers that his early pioneering roles were too idealized and catered to white audiences. He navigated them all with the same inspiring dignity and grace that he brought to the screen.
I won’t even try to list all his accomplishments, since there are many obituaries and tributes all over the media. I’ll just do what you depend on me for and tell you something I’ll bet you didn’t know about him. As noted in my book “Hollywood Hi-Fi,” in 1964, he released an LP called “Poitier Meets Plato” that featured him reading the dialogues of Plato over cool jazz by Fred Katz. You can listen to the entire album on YouTube and have your mind opened and/or blown, depending on how you look at it. RIP.
