1. DAILY BIBLE VERSE

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we have been comforted by God.

II Corinthians 1:3-4

2. Democrat Joe Manchin Endorses Alaska Republican:

The Democrats’ efforts to intimidate Sen. Joe Manchin into toeing the party line not only haven’t worked, they seem to have made him even more independent, maybe because polls show that he’s by far the most popular Democrat in West Virginia. Now, it’s as if he’s just deliberately rubbing their noses in it for fun by endorsing the reelection of a Republican colleague.

https://redstate.com/nick-arama/2022/02/06/manchin-is-going-to-tick-off-more-dems-big-time-with-his-latest-remarks-n518288

Manchin said it doesn’t matter if he’s a Democrat and they’re Republicans, they’re “good people,” “they’ve been my dear friends, we get a lot accomplished and I think the country has fared better with us working together than not.” So “why in the world wouldn’t I want to work with them and continue to work with them?”

Sure, it’s Alaska’s Sen. Lisa Murkowski, whom even a lot of Republicans would like to replace, hence all her conservative primary challengers. Still, when you’re trying to ram a leftist agenda down America’s throats with a 50-50 tie, having a fellow Democrat act like a bipartisan statesman and endorse any Republican’s reelection has got to feel like your party’s symbol the donkey just kicked you in a sensitive area.

3. The “America CONCEDES Act”:

Friday, the House narrowly passed the “America COMPETES Act.” It’s being sold as a bill to make America more competitive with China in science and technology. Normally, I’d be all in for that, but Republicans say this bill actually does so much more to fund the Green New Deal and Critical Race Theory than to compete with China that it should be called the “America CONCEDES Act.” Learn more at the link and quietly thank Sens. Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema once again for refusing to kill the Senate filibuster

4. Must-Read Article:

There are a lot of Americans who can’t seem to pull themselves out of 24/7/365 panic mode over COVID-19. They’re ready to call out the Marines on people who are fed up with masks and lockdowns and just want to get back to living their lives. Some are so paralyzed with fear of the disease that they practically refuse to leave home unless they’re wearing one of those old-fashioned deep sea diver outfits. Some critics say they’ve taken their fear of COVID beyond a reasonable health concern into the area of a religion or even a psychosis. To make it even weirder, I’m sure 100% of these people are fully vaxxed and boosted who knows how many times?

By this stage, it might be impossible to reach them with rational arguments, but if you’d like to try, here’s a good source. John Tierney at City Journal writes about a new NIH study of over 1 million vaccinated adults over the past year, including the Delta variant wave. It calculated the actual statistical odds of dying from COVID if you are vaccinated (we will assume that people with natural immunity from prior infection, especially those also vaccinated, are at even less risk.)

https://www.city-journal.org/understanding-the-covid-odds

Nearly 700,000 healthy vaccinated people under 65 got COVID during this period. None required ICU treatment and none died. Among the vaccinated over 65 without underlying medical conditions, only one died. In all there were 36 deaths, “mostly among a small minority of older people with a multitude of comorbidities: the 3 percent of the sample that had at least four risk factors. Among everyone else, a group that included elderly people with one or two chronic conditions (and healthy, younger people, I'd add), there were just eight deaths among more than 1.2 million people, so their risk of dying was about 1 in 150,000.”

Tierney notes that those are about the same odds that you’ll die in a fire or by falling downstairs in any given year. You’re three times more likely to die while riding in a car or being hit while you’re a pedestrian. It’s also about the same odds over your lifetime that you’ll die in an earthquake or by being struck by lightning.

I hope this helps reassure some people that it’s safe to come out of their houses and stop hiding from life. But my fear is that now they’ll be terrified to come out because they might fall downstairs, get run over by a car or be struck by lightning.

5. The Big Mistake in Georgia:

Failed-but-trying-again Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey “I wuz robbed!” Abrams is a big proponent of the usual hardcore Democrat COVID restrictions, like forcing kids to wear masks in school. So she caught a lot of flak over a photo of her visiting a classroom where she posed Gavin Newsom-style: surrounded by kids who were all masked while she wasn’t.

https://redstate.com/beccalower/2022/02/06/stacey-abrams-snaps-back-over-criticism-of-her-mask-free-photo-op-n518295

The criticism must’ve really stung because her campaign angrily fired back with an everything-plus-the-kitchen-sink response that accused her opponents of racism, disrespecting Black History Month, profiting from pharmaceutical stocks, not funding Medicaid enough, and of course, “TRUUUUUUUUMP!!!!”

None of which actually explained why it was okay for her to be in the classroom without a mask but not for all the kids to be without one.

She should try stealing an excuse from the mayor of Los Angeles and claim that since it was only for the photo, she held her breath for 1/125th of a second.

Related: If Stacey Abrams can go around in public without the masks they force on kids, why can’t an entire New York school board?

6. Exploitation:

Nobody can exploit Black History Month to turn the “soft bigotry of low expectations” into really hard bigotry like condescending liberal college professors.

https://redstate.com/alexparker/2022/02/06/in-honor-of-black-history-month-university-asks-is-professionalism-a-racist-construct-n518354

FYI: This seems like a good place to mention, for any parents looking to send their kids to college soon, that the group FIRE just released its annual list of the 10 worst colleges for free speech. Some of them won’t surprise you, but some might (Tarleton State University in Stephenville, Texas?) In fact, two are in Texas and neither one is in Austin. Texas might have to build a border wall just to keep Californians’ out.

7. Pelosi’s Private Jet Habit:

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi loves to lecture us all about our carbon footprint and how we’re destroying the Earth and causing climate change with our selfish, CO2-creating ways. But according to FEC campaign filings, between October 2020 and December 2021, Pelosi spent over $500,000 on private jets.

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/pelosi-500k-private-jets-moral-obligation-reduce-emissions

This was during a time when she led a 21-member congressional delegation to the UN Climate Change Conference in Scotland (which I bet could’ve been conducted over Zoom.) While there, she piously said of the climate “crisis,” "For me, it's a religious thing…I believe this is God's creation, and we have a moral obligation to be good stewards."

I believe that, too, which is one reason why I travel on commercial airliners that create far less pollution than private jets. Also, I don’t have big piles of money to waste from campaign donors, taxpayers and suspiciously lucky stock investments.

I should also point out that Speaker Pelosi claims to be a good Catholic while fighting any efforts to limit abortion, so her concept of a “religious thing” is likely a lot fuzzier than mine.

8. Hard Lesson:

Meet the American-born Chinese Olympic figure skater who renounced the US to compete for China, only to learn a hard lesson: Americans love winners, but China doesn’t tolerate losers.

https://www.westernjournal.com/us-born-figure-skater-renounced-citizenship-defected-china-one-mistake-turned-chinese-public-enemy-1/

9. Overreach:

The Democrat government of San Jose, California, has voted to put a $25 annual tax and an insurance requirement on all gun owners. Naturally, a lawsuit has already been filed to stop it.

https://www.westernjournal.com/mayor-plans-seize-guns-citizens-havent-paid-fee-exercise-2nd-amendment-rights/

I’m sure this will stand, though, because how could it possibly be unconstitutional to put an undue financial burden on people for exercising their enumerated Constitutional rights? Maybe they could try some of the same legal arguments that Democrats used to try to preserve the poll tax.

Thank you. And as an Alaska Republican I don’t join Senator Manchin in his endorsement of Senator Murkowski. For the record she first gained the office because she was appointed by her father. She was not first elected.

"Hope this helps reassure some people that it’s safe to come out of their houses and stop hiding from life. But my fear is that now they’ll be terrified to come out because they might fall downstairs, get run over by a car or be struck by lightning."

No, see that wouldn't bother me in the slightest. By all means let them embrace their latent agoraphobia if they so please. Problem is, these people would come out of their houses...but would promptly demand that WE (and our children) all stop driving cars, abolish stairs and walk around with giant rubber domes affixed to our heads to deflect potential imminent lightning strikes...for the rest of the human race's existence. The real psychotic tendencies lie in the fact that they love exercising their dictatorial sense of faux-moral superiority far, far more than they fear any virus, automobile collision, flight of stairs or lightning strike.

"Psychosis" is the perfect word for it. (And of the "mass formational" variety). I just wish more psychologist-types would set aside the "Woke Agenda" for a hot minute and speak up. Loudly. The damage being done to entire generations is both immeasurable and unprecedented.

Is Hunter Biden the smartest man Joe biden knows giving advice to his Father how to deal with the drug crisis this country is having today? I would hope Hunter is a recovering drug addict and not a current user of the street bought drugs. Crack Heroin and china's gift to more deaths fentanyl, as if the china virus wasn't enough, why is biden embracing death to our American population allowing his corporation with the Mexican Cartels and the CCP to keep the Southern border open, to what I call an international invasion. Hey Garland if u could possibly have someone wake U up please take a look at this. Forget it Garland I am sure you are under some internal injection to keep U a sleep the same can be said for the FBI, Homeland Security, and Sect. of State, has the Pentagon shut down I would think fighter jets would be clearing the invasion of the invaders. however drones show no indication of that.

    1. on COVID: OF COURSE it has become a religion. That happened over a year ago. We could name some of the conflicting theologians.

    2. Georgia Senate 2022: Two good men are vying for R. Warnock's seat: Kelvin King and Herschel Walker. Both appear to be black Christian conservatives. Any thoughts or insights?

What a mess our country is in.
I liked that Manchin showing he's not one of Chuck's or Nancy's puppets.
I hope the Senate Republicans stand firm and get a backbone. Too many in both parties are CCP mouthpieces.
I last saw the Olympics in the 80's. The CCP just has no class. Only evil intents.
We must continue in fervent prayer. Can no longer trust religious leaders as last year the feds manipulated them into pushing the useless and often dangerous jabs
Now the DOD is trying to hide the real numbers of military injured or worse by them.

Why not support CCP. Isn't that what the left wants to model the new Socialist States of America after?
Ms. Abrams isn't the only Democrat/Socialist that all of a sudden has a scheduling problem when Brandon (Biden) comes to town.
Why are the Republicans causing the same stink as Democrats in the redistricting? The Democrat voters that want a true United Sates, with safe neighborhoods, equal education for all (something democrats have not delivered on for decades), and the ability to progress up the ladder based on their ability, not because they filled a quota. Will vote for the right candidate that has those same principal and understands whom he works for once elected.

I need some advice. I am not a student. Where do I go to be safe and have my PTSD treated from having to listen to unprovoked leftist comments? I cannot tell you how disturbing these comments are to one who believes in rational thought. Having been taught the basic premises of the .constitution and Bill of Rights, having a public health based degree, and having worked in the financial area for 20 years, these ignorant remarks cause me great stress.

That reminded me so much of what Trudeau said about truckers that I thought she was talking to the truckers!!
