2. "Huckabee" Preview

On this glorious Easter weekend, I hope you’ll set aside an hour for a special edition of “Huckabee” on TBN! I’ll talk to the Heritage Foundation’s Mark Morgan, former acting commissioner of US Customs and Border Protection, about the crisis at the border. But I also have lots of great entertainment lined up, including world champion juggler David DiMuzio and actor Eric Close with a sneak peak at his new movie, “The Mulligan.” We’ll laugh at the news with a special Easter edition of “In Case You Missed It,” and top it all off with the inspiring music of traditional country artist Corey Layne.

So before you hunt any eggs, hunt up TBN at 8 and 11 EST, 7 and 10 CST, and Sunday at 9 EST/8 CST. To find out how to watch TBN, from local cable and broadcast channels to streaming, visit https://www.huckabee.tv and click on “Channel Finder” on the top menu. You can stream previous episodes, highlights and online-only “Digital Exclusives,” including extended interviews, “In Case You Missed It” and “Facts of the Matter” segments, plus extra performances by our great musical and comedy guests and links to all their sites, at https://www.huckabee.tv. You can also find past shows, highlights and digital exclusives on YouTube and my Facebook page.

3. Russia-Ukraine War Update

Here is today’s link to Fox News’ constantly-updated bulletins on Russia and Ukraine.

https://www.foxnews.com/live-news/ukraine-russia-updates-04-16-2022

I’m reluctant even to give a recap, since so much of it is horrifying news you’ve heard before: discoveries of hundreds of dead bodies, Russia continuing to attack cities and civilians, and Putin making threats to anyone who dares stand up against his atrocities or aid Ukraine. Ukrainian President Zelenskyy said it best in complaining about how he keeps having to beg other nations to provide Ukraine with defensive weapons, when he said, “It’s Groundhog Day.”

One new twist: in a speech at Georgia Tech, CIA Director William Burns revealed that US intelligence and the White House were aware early last fall that Putin was planning to invade Ukraine.

4. From Our “About Darn Time” File

By Mike Huckabee

The Republican National Committee voted unanimously to withdraw from the Commission on Presidential Debates.

https://redstate.com/jenniferoo/2022/04/14/not-up-for-debate-the-rnc-votes-unanimously-to-withdraw-from-the-commission-on-presidential-debates-n550357

It’s a supposedly non-partisan group that organizes presidential and vice presidential debates. But for years, the group has ignored Republican complaints that they stack the debate moderating roster with Democrat partisans, including people who’ve actually worked on some of the Democrats’ campaigns and staffs. Republicans still point to the 2012 debate where CNN’s Candy Crowley argued over a claim made by Mitt Romney. It was as if he were debating both Obama and the moderator – and it was later confirmed that Romney had been correct.

In January, the RNC sent the Commission a letter listing several reforms they demanded be made to ensure genuinely fair and nonpartisan debates. The Commission again brushed them off, so the RNC said they’re outta there. The Commission might be happy, since it’s obvious they’ve always wanted "debates" that are nothing but Democrats repeating DNC talking points to each other. But if voters wanted to see that, it’s on CNN 24/7.

5. Democrats are struggling to reach voters and they don't know why

By Mike Huckabee

One of the few things you can count on in this ever-changing world is that Democrats will never admit that their policies don’t work. Whenever they get into power, mess things up, and their poll ratings plummet (with the steepness of the drop always mysteriously corresponding to the amount of power they wield), it’s always because there’s a problem with their “messaging.” The poor dumb rubes just haven’t heard how great things are going, really. And media bias against Democrats is always such an insurmountable problem for them.

Seven years ago, I wrote the book “God, Guns, Grits and Gravy” to warn liberal elites how out of touch with most Americans they were, and they still haven’t figured it out. But then, why would they listen to me when they could take their cues from AOC and Joy Reid?

With the Dems’ approval ratings now dropping below those of eczema and British cuisine, the Hill newspaper asked them what’s the problem, and as always, it’s that pesky messaging! Americans seem to be in such a grumpy mood, they just don’t appreciate all the great accomplishments of the Biden White House. I’m linking to this because it’s such a perfect example of how they don’t just live in an echo chamber, but as Kurt Schlichter put it, an “echo vault, totally impenetrable from the outside and, at the same time, totally inescapable.”

https://thehill.com/news/administration/3265878-democrats-blame-messaging-for-their-political-problems/

Being a poor, ignorant peasant, you might not be able to name those copious Biden accomplishments, so the Dems listed a few: “…the coronavirus relief bill passed in March, a bipartisan infrastructure bill and the recent confirmation of Ketanji Brown Jackson, who will be the first Black woman to serve on the Supreme Court. They also highlight an economy that continues to create jobs, and the improving state of the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Wow, where to start? Well, the massive deficit spending bills are a major contributor to the current record-breaking inflation, and Democrats want more of those. Yes, wages are rising, but inflation is outpacing the rise, so workers are actually falling behind on pay and going into credit card debt. As I’ve mentioned many times before, we’re not dumb enough to believe that letting people return to their old jobs that the government shut down is “creating jobs.” Besides, Americans voting with their moving vans know that the real job creation is in red states where Governors are doing the opposite of what Biden wants, sometimes in defiance of his orders and lawsuits.

COVID-19 is going away because of vaccines developed under Trump and Omicron exploding the level of natural immunity (something the Democrats spent over a year denying exists.) The Brown confirmation is very exciting to people who care about nothing but race and gender (even though she can’t define what a “woman” is), but I think most Americans don’t care what color or sex a judge is, they just want one who doesn’t go easy on repeat criminals, particularly pedophiles.

There is only one honest sentence in this entire article, and it comes from an unnamed Democratic strategist: “We’ve done a f—ing horrible job and sometimes I think we deserve to lose big in November.”

But naturally, he meant a horrible job of “messaging,” and telling the public how great a job they’ve really been doing. I suggest they put modesty aside and just start telling the voters that they don’t appreciate how great they really have it. See how that works in November.

6. Not Your English Class

Why are some teachers so adamant about teaching inappropriate sexual and gender content to children? Maybe because they’ve given up on teaching them anything else.

For instance, if you thought English teachers were there to teach your kids grammar and literacy, you need to get with the times, square. According to a statement by the National Council of Teachers of English, “The time has come to decenter book reading and essay writing as the pinnacles of English language arts education.” Instead, they want kids to delve into the brave new world of digital media literacy. No, that’s not an oxymoron (I took English when kids learned what an oxymoron was.)

https://redstate.com/alexparker/2022/04/15/english-teachers-association-will-decenter-book-reading-and-essay-writing-as-it-addresses-systemic-inequalities-and-social-justice-n551127

And what sort of Internet content will these “English” teachers focus on in place of great books and essays? I think you can guess from their claim that they’re pursuing “critical media literacy,” and that they “value the use of teaching and learning practices that help to identify and disrupt the inequalities of contemporary life, including structural racism, sexism, consumerism, and economic injustice. Critical pedagogies help learners see themselves as empowered change agents, able to imagine and build a better, more just world.”

I would be happy if they just taught kids that “they” is not a singular pronoun, no matter what you "prefer."

Oh, well, you don’t want your kids to be English majors anyway. You’d rather they get a degree that will land them a good-paying job in a STEM field. So here’s a roundup of how the teaching of college math and science is going

https://redstate.com/alexparker/2022/04/15/university-orders-professors-to-decolonize-math-think-twice-before-citing-white-or-male-mathematicians-n551065

As Alex Parker of Redstate.com relates, universities are pushing to “decolonize” math and STEM fields, to remove the “whiteness” and Western frame of reference. As one British social sciences professor explains, “The idea behind decolonizing maths is that because everyone should be regarded as equal, the status of their beliefs must also be equal. This judgmental relativism is an inversion of science that is based on what is real rather than making everybody feel included.”

I don’t know about you, but when I get on a plane, I want to know that the engine was designed by someone who learned how to make everyone feel included, and not just a bunch of real stuff about physics and math.

I mentioned it earlier this week, but it bears repeating: There are 7 million good-paying jobs open right now for skilled workers who went to trade school. Walmart is offering up to $110,000 a year as starting pay for truck drivers. That’s twice the starting salary of the average college graduate, and with zero student debt and no leftist brainwashing.

7. Dianne Feinstein

I am always hesitant to pass along stories about a politician reportedly having psychological issues, when such claims are often weaponized by people who aren’t doctors and have never met the person they’re diagnosing. We got a lot of that quackery during Trump’s term.

But this story might be more credible than usual, since it allegedly originated with four political colleagues and three former staffers sharing concerns about a powerful DC Democrat’s deteriorating memory and growing cognitive decline. There are calls for this politician to take a cognitive test and possibly resign. And no, it’s not who you’re thinking it is.

    Mike
Hope your Easter Day was as awesome as ours.
For weeks now, I've been wondering how the UN Security Council or (?) could invoke a directive on Putin to desist all military action against Ukraine, remove all military personnel and equipment from within the Ukraine borders as they stood before the aggression started within 24 hours, or be punished into submission by combined powers of the UN armed forces, NATO, etc., then forced to make financial retribution to Ukraine for all losses, both material and human over a time period not to exceed 10 years.
Could our UN Representative possibly present such a directive draft, then ask why not, based on the UN Charter's purposes? World opinion could apply a lot of pressure on the UN to do so.
    Just thinking, hoping and praying.

I agree with Patrick Trebo this constant RNC whining for money is getting to be annoying. The DNC always outrageous where money is concerned. But if they want to see what good it does to spend big money on campaigns then just look at Mike Bloomberg. Half a billion dollars and he couldn't even buy a primary.

It's only Friday and Sunday's coming is great and always reassuring. I often fear for whats coming next when i meet up with my final day here that is probably why i weep at funerals and when I listen to taps. I feel more than sad when a love one meets it next journey as I do with the brutal murder of my friend
Jesus it still has me weeping. Death here is sad and one needs to focus on the next venture that helps taking the sting out of a love one leaving. Looking at Pontius Pilate I think of Bill Barr and before Jesus took Peter to be an Apostle joe biden like Peter was bold most of the time wrong Vulgar bolsterious with a temper and arrogant although Peter turned around most of his evil ways peter did denied and lied about knowing Jesus similar to what biden is doing to Americans today Peter did go to the cross and was murdered upside down similar to the way Jesus was murdered, the book on biden final days are still to be written so far Biden has taken the life of Peter before Jesus brought him on board I don't see anyone rescuing biden as yet, biden is still working on Friday I hope Sunday is in his near Future.

    The case for nuclear power:
Long ago, following the Three Mile Island plant leakage mess, I researched why other countries were going to nuclear power generation; the findings were phenomenal and also provided huge domestic pollution clean-up, and financial (and major trade deficit balance) opportunities.
I have sent reports to multiple presidents and governors; obviously, the liberal scardy-cats have poo pooed it, but as a conservative power point, it might turn the tide as an alternative to the insane liberal arguments on green energy ever working well. I can mail, email or send a Word file attachment to you/ your staff, if you're interested.

TX follow-up - A possible scheme to help Gov. Abbott fulfill his nightmare cure - delivering illegals to the US capitol: Arrange for agency vetted illegals (probably no minors) in Ryder trucks (provided with food, water and sanitary facilities), arriving randomly at the capitol between 2 and 4 AM, each with $20, a healthy snack supply, water and no information on the trucking staff.

You may have meant something different, but the dictionary allows 'they' as a singular pronoun when the object is indefinite. It is useful in avoiding the awkward (and stupid sounding) 'he or she' construction.

    Dear "Gov,"
I enjoy your comments and rail against Democrat methods quite as much as you do. But there's another issue that I see no attempt to address or ameliorate. That is the messaging that multiple Republican/Trump outlets are putting out. I was triggered by your own words:
"Democrats are struggling to reach voters and they don't know why."
All the while I continue to receive daily hoards of messaging from the above cited outlets which say such as "we've sent you 32 messages and you haven't responded." Or, one just today captioned "No donation required." In fact, yep, there was a donation required if my "survey" responses were to be accepted. This is just plain bull, over and over again which casts a pall on their message. They don't want your opinion or support, but only your money. If you don't comply, they castigate you and say you're going to be cut off or some such threats. This has to stop. Someone, anyone, please help get the word out among purveyors of the Republican/Conservative message. As it is, I have at this point virtually crossed my arms and continue to mostly sit on the sidelines. I cannot imagine that there are many, many more like myself who contribute to the dearth of contributions to our Conservative cause as I read over and over complaints of being outraised.
I hope that, as you have often said, that you read this and consider what might be done to correct the course that's being taken.
