3. Russia-Ukraine War Update

Here's today’s link to the Fox News feed of continually-updated Russia-Ukraine news:

https://www.foxnews.com/live-news/russia-ukraine-war-news-putin-zelenskyy-live

Some of the latest news: Ukrainian police say they’ve found the bodies of more than 1,000 civilians after Russian troops pulled back from attacks in Kyiv. Amid word that Putin plans to take control of Donbas and southern Ukraine, President Zelenskyy warned that if he succeeds, it would be only the beginning and Putin is likely to invade other countries. He urged other nations to fight with Ukraine because “we are the first in line, and who will come next?” Putin claimed Russia had successfully launched an ICBM that could carry a nuclear warhead and hit a target 3700 miles away, which he said should be “food for thought” for any nation thinking of standing up to Russia. And Britain announced that it plans to reopen its embassy in Kyiv next week.

4. McCarthy contradicts himself

Update: It appears that there really is a tape of House GOP leader Kevin McCarthy telling other Republicans on a phone meeting after the January 6th riot that he’d “had it with this guy” (Trump) and was thinking of asking him to resign. That contradicts what he's previously said.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2022/04/21/mccarthy-disputes-report-that-he-privately-vowed-confront-trump-after-jan-6

McCarthy said Friday that he was just walking through “different scenarios” and didn’t actually want Trump to resign. As of this writing, Trump has yet to comment publicly, but he reportedly talked to McCarthy Thursday and said he wasn’t upset and was glad McCarthy didn’t follow through. Conservatives who have long been suspicious of McCarthy’s allegiance to Trump or to conservative principles say that if Trump changes his mind and publicly denounces McCarthy, it would likely kill his ambitions to become House Speaker. So the ball is in Trump’s court.

Incidentally, Rep. Matt Gaetz suggested that notorious anti-Trumper Liz Cheney, who was in the call, could have leaked the tape to the New York Times, but she denied recording or leaking it.

5. Pro-Death Party: Democrat policies lead to a new death along the border

I’m sure I angered some Democrats recently by asking if the Party had become pro-death. I didn’t mean that lightly or as just a partisan jab. I have honestly become alarmed at how radical factions have so taken over the Party that it seems the toll of human life is secondary to imposing their policies.

Stop and ask yourself, how many people have died because of the imposition of leftist policies that have led to riots; wars; skyrocketing murder rates; incredibly dangerous illegal immigration made even worse by coyotes and gangs; deadly drugs like fentanyl pouring across the border; the botched Afghanistan pullout; famines and deaths caused by energy and food shortages created by their radical green policies (not here yet, but give it time); and new abortion laws that are erasing the line between killing babies in the womb and outright infanticide of post-birth children. Dare to say any of this and the “party of compassion” attacks you for criticizing them while ignoring the victims of its tragically misguided views.

Well, it now appears that another death has occurred at the border that will be harder for Biden & Co. to ignore. A search resumed at dawn Saturday for a Texas National Guard soldier who is believed to have drowned in the Rio Grande River near Eagle Pass.

https://www.westernjournal.com/texas-national-guard-soldier-border-officials-confirm-heroic-final-feat/

He reportedly dived in to save a migrant woman who started drowning as she attempted to cross the river from Mexico. The woman was saved, but the soldier disappeared in the deep, muddy water. Officials say the river is more dangerous than it looks, and migrants drown there as often as twice a week.

https://www.newsweek.com/search-texas-soldier-feared-drowned-during-rescue-called-off-night-1700290

That’s just one of the many ways in which migrants die, lured here by Biden’s open borders policy. How long has it been since you’ve seen anyone in the news even mention these deaths? Did you know that a couple of people drown every week just in that one spot while crossing the border illegally? If the latest victim hadn’t been a heroic Guardsman, would they have even bothered to cover it?

This is why I don’t want to hear another word about how, if you don’t support Democrat policies, you have no compassion. I think the very lowest bar for compassion is caring at all whether your policies are actually killing people.

6. Disney learns a hard lesson: “Get woke, go broke,”

Friday, the Disney Corporation learned what the adage, “Get woke, go broke,” really means as Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed a quickly-passed bill revoking the special self-governing tax district that Disney has enjoyed near Orlando for over five decades.

https://www.westernjournal.com/desantis-seals-disneys-fate-dont-think-walt-appreciate-going-company/

The news caused Disney’s stock to take another drop on Friday. It’s down 33% from one year ago.

Some conservatives are joining liberals in attacking the move, claiming it’s punishing Disney for free speech to revoke the sweetheart deal, because CEO Bob Chapek vowed to use Disney's political clout to overturn the state law barring inappropriate sexual content and gender politics from being taught to children in kindergarten through third grade (and I could hear Walt Disney spinning in his grave as I typed that.) But all it really means is that Disney now has to follow the same rules as every other company in Florida. Up until now, liberals were the ones complaining about how Disney was abusing its power in Florida to exploit the workers, etc. Guess if you’re “woke” enough, they’ll overlook any other sins.

One worry is that dissolving Disney’s district could force local taxpayers to pick up the bill for expenses Disney had been covering, which could mean a big tax increase. But it doesn’t take effect until 2023, so those issues could be worked out before then.

https://www.foxbusiness.com/politics/disney-stripped-special-status-florida-local-taxpayers

DeSantis gave them a well-deserved lesson in who really has the political clout in Florida. And market analysts who are brushing off the stock drop as fleeting don’t seem to understand just how badly Disney’s CEO has tarnished the company’s brand. He took the side of radical LGBTQ activists over parents (Disney's customer base), and I don’t think they’re going to forget that anytime soon.

You don’t even have to be politically partisan to realize how badly Disney has Goofied up. Here’s the former CEO of McDonald’s arguing that Chapek and other Disney executives should be fired for getting involved in politics “without thought and care” and costing their stockholders big time.

https://www.foxnews.com/media/disney-execs-fired-rensi-desantis-parental-rights-law

If they really want to get people back into the theme parks, I’d suggest firing them out of cannons as part of the nightly fireworks show.

7. Obama takes heat for a recent speech, after talking out of both sides of his mouth

Former President Obama is taking heat over a speech for which he should’ve worn a mask and maybe nobody would’ve noticed that he was talking out of both sides of his mouth.

He began with a defense of free speech, claiming he was pretty close to a First Amendment “absolutist.” Then came the “but…” But because of social media spreading harmful “disinformation,” Big Tech needs to regulate speech more. And “content moderation” doesn’t go far enough because it doesn’t prevent the distribution of “clearly dangerous content.” Which is why the federal government needs to get involved by creating a “regulatory structure” to ensure Internet speech platforms are “following certain safety standards that we as a country – not just them – have agreed are necessary for the greater good.” Funny, I don't recall being asked if I thought the federal government regulating speech was necessary for the greater good. Were you?

https://www.theblaze.com/news/obama-promptly-gets-called-out-for-demanding-govt-intervention-over-harmful-online-content-after-promoting-free-speech

So to recap: he’s a “free speech absolutist,” except he thinks that Big Tech should monitor and censor speech and the federal government should have laws regulating speech to make sure they’re censoring it the way he thinks they should be – for our own good, of course.

Obama does have a point: people who tell gigantic lies can cause great harm. Like when you take away millions of peoples’ health insurance coverage while assuring them it will be replaced with something that allows them to keep their doctor if they like their doctor. I remember that being declared “Lie of the Year.” Yet irresponsible media companies broadcast it as if it were true.

And then there were the Trump years, which was the golden age of fake news, when trust in the government was poisoned by the media credulously repeating the Russia collusion hoax, the “very fine people” hoax, the “all Mexicans are rapists and criminals” hoax, the Nick Sandmann hoax, the Jussie Smollett hoax, etc. etc.

So maybe Obama has a point: we need federal regulation to ride herd on media outlets that fill the public square with dangerous lies.

Or we could zealously protect freedom of speech so that these unrepentant liars could be called out in the public square and everyone would simply learn not to listen to them anymore. I like that solution better, and it's already well under way.

8. Ludicrous legal attempt

A ludicrous legal attempt by a Democrat group to keep some Republicans off the ballot for reelection has gone down in flames, and rightly so.

https://redstate.com/nick-arama/2022/04/22/effort-to-block-gop-reps-from-running-because-of-jan-6-goes-down-to-withering-defeat-n554723

They were trying to claim they were ineligible to run because they’re “insurrectionists” for attending Trump’s January 6th rally or opposing certification of the 2020 vote, which is entirely within their power to do. If questioning an election result is insurrection, then we’d better arrest all the Democrats who did the same thing to Bush in 2000 and 2004, and to Trump in 2016. Not to mention all the Hollywood celebrities who made that cringe-inducing YouTube video calling on Trump electors to vote for Hillary instead (yes, I remember that, no matter how hard I’ve tried to flush it from my mind.)

Unfortunately, Rep. Marjorie Taylor-Greene is still having to deal with this idiocy because she got a liberal judge who allowed it to proceed, despite a day of testimony that brought to mind the Three Stooges film, “Disorder in the Court.” I’m not kidding: you have to read this to believe it.

https://redstate.com/bonchie/2022/04/22/marjorie-taylor-greenes-court-appearance-for-alleged-insurrection-was-absolutely-bonkers-n554593

Let’s hope the judge doesn’t prove to be a complete knucklehead and tosses this lamebrain case. But he could actually rule in favor of the Democrat law firm of Larry, Moe and Curly, which would mean Greene would have to appeal a case that should never have sullied the interior of a courtroom.

9. A Supreme Court case to watch

Monday, the Supreme Court will hear oral arguments in the appeal of a Washington State high school football coach who lost his job due to a dispute over his practice of praying on the field after games. It’s a complex case with a lot of claims and counterclaims, so check out the link for full details.

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/supreme-court-religious-liberty-school-coach

He’s lost in all the lower courts, but he might have a "Hail Mary play" chance in the 6-3 conservative SCOTUS. The SCOTUS initially turned down this case in 2019, but four conservative Justices warned that the appeals courts’ "understanding of the free speech rights of public school teachers is troubling and may justify review in the future." There’s a chance, at least, that Monday may finally signal an end to the long wait for some clarity on issues of freedom of speech and religion.

No one today can clear out a room of people having a good time then the Biden and his Family, the VP and her family and staffers; and Biden's collection of Agencies Heads. What party could accept this group? A Pagan celebration or a sacrifice or mutilation of an animal, a Huge fire, Pagans howling with hate, while screaming the dismantle of America. Mike I know this is a pretty ugly description of our Government today however I have to say at the very least, I am very displeased with the action of this OVAL OFFICE> and its Cult like Members!

Dem. Congress while Trump was the President opposed Donald in his efforts to keep Germany off total dependence on Russian Oil. Donald tried to explain to Merkle how this will be future problem the Chancellor wouldn't listen and poured billions of dollars into the Russian war machine while allowing her own military to weaken. Again Trump was able to see problems in the future and did everything he could to prevent them. The Dems. and some RINOS do not have the American population first or for that matter the world best interest in their policies. The Dems for the most part are anti American, Peace , Hormony, and prosperity look at world under American democratic polices what does one see the MSM will not let you see why Democratic policies forbid freedom of speech and optics as it relates to the border and the trafficking of human beings and it deadly drugs, to be a Democrat one must be driven with evil intent.

Biden does not care about the addiction of drugs Americans are experiencing the abundance of drugs coming thru the southern border allows the homeless epidemic to flourish, criminal activity cannot be denied, the workforce is struggling people do not want to work, a large portion of our young students are using drugs and the percentage of students not able to read or write is increasing biden should be credited with one of his achievements

Kevin McCarthy is not much different in philosophy from Paul Ryan, and he needs to retire. McCarthy talks tough, but he cannot even keep the House Republicans together on the issues. I sure miss Newt Gingrich!

Why is biden telling Putin what weapons he is sending to Ukraine. biden’s drug smugglers cost a soldier his life while trying to save the criminals while struggling to stay above water the open borders can say one thing the drug cartels and biden and the Home land security are working together for more poison to enter the country. money, children being raped and death is the bottom line of this administration and people say China has human abuses someone needs to call Biden out for these abuses.

McCarthy is not a person I would trust with any thing of value I do not see leadership in this guy and House Speaker would not be my choice. Trump has picked some losers for department Heads and I wouldn't go with McCarthy. Why does anyone Listen to Obama or Hiliary Clinton it is bad enough we have biden and Harris add Schumer and Pelosi and the rest of the democratic nit wits how much embarrassment can a country expose before every country send it criminals to invade this country. Oh wait almost every country is sending their worse assets now. If people were excellent characters they would come legally and make an outstanding life for themselves. Did Elon Musk come here legally? I rest my case.

Britain plans to reopen its embassy in Kyiv or Kiev or however they spell it. So what?
At the same time they are allowing 20 year old allegations of war crimes against British soldiers in Iraq to start up again.
