Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is bent out of shape over a Twitter account that parodies her. In a comment on her own policies and statements that she seems oblivious to, AOC is afraid that people will mistake the parody account that makes laughable and ridiculous statements as actually being her. This in spite of the fact that it’s plainly called “Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Press Release (parody).”
Being a good socialist, AOC is all in favor of silencing her critics and has previously tweeted, “Deplatforming works and it is important” (no, that’s NOT the parody account.) I’m sure she’d love to shut down the free speech of the account that’s poking fun at her, but unfortunately for her, Elon Musk owns Twitter now. So she fumed, “I am assessing with my team how to move forward.” Apparently, her “team” has nothing better to do than try to think up ways to keep people from making fun of AOC. Good luck with that!
I agree with the author of this piece that she has only two ways of “moving forward.” Either develop the ability to laugh at herself, or stop coming out with policies and statements that are so easy to parody.
