On Friday afternoon, independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., in suspending his campaign, gave what might turn out to be the most consequential political speech of our lifetime.  May it be so.  Inarguably, this speech is one of the most necessary.

If you haven’t yet watched it in full, now’s the time to do that.  Settle in for one of the most gratifying viewing experiences you’ve ever had.  Someone’s actually saying this out loud, and not just to a conservative audience.

It was later on Friday that Kennedy officially endorsed Donald Trump for President.  He even appeared with Trump at a rally on Friday night and said he will join him on the campaign trail. They still have many disagreements, but he said they agree on several fundamental issues, such as uprooting regulatory agency corruption and fighting chronic disease, and he is willing to work with Trump on them, although there’s no agreement for him to take any official post.

But what he said earlier, during the speech, about what has happened to the Democrat Party should be something for the history books --- though it should be noted that if history ends up being told by Democrats, it surely will not appear.  They’re already belittling it --- and him --- of course.  What else can they

As described by Julie Kelly, the speech “represents a scathing indictment of America’s ruling class --- the Biden regime, the Democratic Party, the corporate media, Big Tech, Big Pharma, and other powerful interests” and is “required viewing for every American.”

“In many ways,” Kelly said, “it is a eulogy of America’s greatness by a member of American political royalty.”  Of course, the phrase “American political royalty” should be an oxymoron, but it is true that over the past few generations, the Kennedys have been considered by many to be that very thing.  And the Democrat Party has changed so much since the days of “Camelot,” it’s hardly recognizable.

In the days of his childhood, Kennedy began, “the Democrats were the champions of the Constitution, of civil rights...stood against authoritarianism, against censorship, against colonialism, imperialism, and unjust wars.  We were the party of labor, of the working class...of government transparency, and the champion of the environment...against big-money interests and corporate power.”

“True to its name, it was the party of democracy.”  But now, it’s “the party of war, censorship, corruption, Big Pharma, Big Tech, Big Ag, and big money.”

The DNC showed how much they valued “democracy” with a process rigged by “shadowy operatives” to install the wildly unpopular Kamala Harris as their nominee.  (We would add that Democrats have so thoroughly trashed the concept of democracy that they’ve had to switch their messaging from the word “democracy” to the word “freedom.”  Still, the undemocratic way in which Kamala was selected for the ticket has much more in common with banana republics than with any “free” country.)

Then, Kennedy said, they “engineered a surge in popularity for Vice President Harris, based upon nothing.  No policies, no interviews, no debates, only smoke and mirrors, and balloons, in a highly produced Chicago circus.”  (Wait --- hasn’t he heard about all the “joy”?)

RELATED:  Kamala was chosen because she’ll keep the same dishonest power structure in place.  Look whose name is being floated for her Attorney General should she be elected:  It’s U.S. Attorney Matthew Graves of DC, the Biden appointee who’s overseeing all the J6 cases and who refused to cooperate with Special Counsel David Weiss in prosecuting Hunter Biden.  According to Julie Kelly, his prosecution of J6 defendants is “active and ongoing,” and people are still being tracked down and detained after three-and-a-half years.  A must-read piece...

In his speech, Kennedy praised his supporters for showing “that democracy is still possible here.  It continues to survive in the press and in the idealistic human energies that still thrive beneath a canvas of neglect and of official and institutional corruption.”  (Well, it survives in the press just barely, and despite all that institutional corruption.)

“In the name of saving democracy,” he said, “the Democratic Party set itself to dismantling it.  Lacking confidence in its candidate --- that its candidate could win in a fair election at the voting booth --- the DNC waged continual legal warfare against both President Trump and myself.”  Of course, their strategy against Trump has been try everything to railroad him into jail, but RFK Jr.’s campaign was also targeted, dragged into court “in state after state” to try to keep him off the ballot.  He pointed out that the judges are “Democrat-aligned.”  Real democratic.

His father and brother had “relished debate,” he said, and “would be astonished to learn of a Democratic Party presidential nominee who, like Vice President Harris, has not appeared in a single interview or an unscripted encounter with voters in 35 days.  This is profoundly undemocratic.”

“How did the Democratic Party choose a candidate that has never done an interview or debate during the entire election cycle?”

And how does this look to the rest of the world?  His father and brother, he said, “were always conscious of America’s image abroad because of our nation’s role as the template for democracy…”  (Sadly, if we were the template for democracy, the Democrats broke the mold.)

The way they went after their opponents, Kennedy explained, was “by weaponizing the government agencies,” by lawfare, and by “disenfranchising American voters.”  What alarms him most of all, he said, is the government’s use of censorship.

“When a U.S. President colludes with, or outright coerces, media companies to censor political speech, it’s an attack on our most sacred right of free expression, and that’s the very right upon which all our other constitutional rights rest.”

SIDE NOTE:  Some good news --- Remember the disappointing Supreme Court ruling in Murthy v. Missouri that the states didn’t have standing to challenge federal agencies’ capacity to collaborate with social media companies?  (They weren’t ruling on the merits of the case, just the states’ standing to sue.)  Last week, U.S. District Court Judge Terry Doughty ruled that RFK Jr. and his Children’s Health Defense organization actually DO have standing to sue about that!  So his lawsuit will go forward.  He’s arguing that they were “specifically targeted” by government agencies over alleged misinformation about COVID-19 and vaccines.

Doughty wrote that there is evidence to show Kennedy has been “directly censored in the past” and that there is “substantial risk” that “in the near future” he will as a presidential candidate “suffer an injury that is traceable to a Government defendant, and redressable by the injunction they seek.”  He wrote this last Tuesday, a few days before Kennedy dropped out; one would think Kennedy having to suspend his campaign might even add heft to his legal argument.

[ADDITIONAL SIDE NOTE:  If you think the censorship has abated at all since the discovery of various “disinformation” boards and social media-government partnerships, we’re sorry to tell you that, with the exception of X (formerly Twitter), “content moderation” is still very much the scourge it was in 2020.  In fact, one of my writers learned over the weekend that an acquaintance who tried using Gmail (Google) to send a video of Tulsi Gabbard --- you know, that dangerous domestic terrorist who was placed on the “Quiet Skies” surveillance list --- was unable to have it delivered.  Be advised that most of social media is compromised.]

Jonathan Turley was inspired by Kennedy’s speech to write a column on “How Democrats Make Republicans:  RFK should be a wake-up call for party.”  Turley means they literally are turning Democrats into Republicans with their take-no-prisoners strategy for winning at any cost.  “Kennedy’s speech,” he said, ‘resonated with many long-time Democrats who have found themselves estranged from the party.”

Recall that there’s a whole movement dedicated to this, the #WalkAway Movement, founded by our friend and former Democrat Brandon Straka.  Check out the video he posted after RFK Jr. announced he was dropping out of the race; it’s in about the first nine minutes that he talks about the content of the speech.

“There’s absolutely no line they won’t cross,” Straka says of the radical Democrat Party, “in their quest for power.”  He’s right in saying that “this isn’t a political party, it’s a crime syndicate.”  Their ruthless pursuit of control has finally gotten to be too much for Americans who consider our system of government to be a blessing.  And now, Democrats are panicking, he says.  We would add that when they panic, that’s when they have to be watched the most.

Turley agrees that the Democrat Party has gone too far, crossed a line.  “Only a year ago,” he wrote, it would have been unthinkable that a sitting President would be effectively forced off a ticket and replaced by a candidate who did not receive a single vote for President.”

What Kennedy said in his “powerful and poignant speech” resonated strongly with Turley, who understands that the Democrat Party has become the very thing it used to be against.  It has “virtually shoved him and other voters into the arms of Donald Trump and the Republican Party.”  So, are they happy now?  Where’s the “joy”?  No amount of cheesy, manufactured giddiness is going to cover for what they have done to themselves.

Related: As if to underline this Administration’s contempt for the safety of its political opponents, the Secret Service announced that it would cease providing protection to RJK Jr. Despite his family history of assassinations and the many death threats against him, it took months for them to agree to protect him. Now, with what are sure to be more threats from the violent loony left following his endorsement and willingness to work with Trump, and with him remaining on the ballot as a candidate in all but the swing states, the Secret Service immediately yanked his protection.

Well, that should convince Americans that he’s wrong when he calls the Democrats who currently control the Secret Service biased and corrupt.

Also Related: As expected, RFK Jr.’s own family members, who have defended their clan against countless scandals, rushed to the cameras to viciously condemn RFK Jr. for committing the unforgivable sin of telling the truth about the Democratic Party. RFK Jr. brushed it off, saying people should be able to disagree and still love each other, But John Podhoretz called their backstabbing of their own family member “a repellent spectacle” and “the kind of false aristocratic creepiness that makes me want to, you know, drive off a bridge.”

But perhaps the best, and most brutal, response to these third- and fourth-generation wealthy Democrat hothouse flowers came in the form of an open letter to them from Tammy Bruce, who smashed their bubble with a sharp lance of reality.
