News roundup - Justice served

March 2, 2019

After watching violent leftists run roughshod over other people’s rights (and bodies), I’m happy to provide you with an overdue roundup of news about justice finally being served.

In Somerset, New Jersey, a 19-year-old male has been identified and charged with assault and harassment for allegedly attacking an 81-year-old man because he was wearing a MAGA cap while grocery shopping.

Over a week after a sickening violent assault on a conservative student at UC-Berkeley was captured on video, a suspect has finally been identified and arrested.  The victim is still suffering concussion-like symptoms from the brutal punches in the face that he endured, simply because the leftist thug was “triggered” by a sign saying that fake hate crimes harm victims of real hate crimes.  Since he’s obviously passionate about prosecuting real hate crimes, let’s hope they charge him with committing one.

https://www.theblaze.com/news/man-arrested-charged-in-assault-on-conservative-activist-at-uc-berkeley

Finally, the Washington Post at long last has walked back its false reporting that the Covington, Kentucky, Catholic students sparked a confrontation with a Native American activist.  Both the full video of the event and an independent investigation proved that the boys were the ones confronted and taunted, and they did nothing wrong.  In fact, they showed admirable maturity and restraint in the midst of a tense situation.

https://pjmedia.com/trending/the-washington-posts-clawback-on-its-covington-story/

But read WaPo’s statement and note what it doesn’t say (like “We apologize for getting this story completely wrong.”) It’s phrased like a bland “correction,” but their initial story didn’t need just a “correction;” it was the exact opposite of what actually happened and required a full retraction.  For instance, the boys didn’t make offensive racist remarks to anyone, but offensive racist remarks were shouted at them. WaPo’s story was nothing but a lazy regurgitation of a leftist Internet hit job on some innocent kids just because they were wearing MAGA caps and coming from a pro-life rally.

As to WaPo’s weasely claim that the situation was more “complicated” that it first seemed: no, it wasn’t.   They reported something they wanted to be true that was the opposite of what actually happened.  That’s not “complicated,” it’s just plain old bias.

WaPo appears to be doing damage control now that they’re facing a $250 million defamation lawsuit, but it’s too little too late.  Any journalist can make a forgivable mistake.  That’s why reporting is called “the first draft of history.”  As scrupulous as we are here about fact-checking, we often have to make corrections as new information comes to light (did anyone even get Jussie Smollett’s name spelled correctly in the first bulletins involving him?)

But this story is not the result of rushing to meet a deadline with insufficient information.  The Post, and all the other media outlets that printed the story that nearly destroyed those boys’ lives and subjected them to death threats, did so without bothering to do the slightest due diligence on the facts.  There was a full video showing what really happened; did they even look at it before going to press with the false version?  Obviously not.  And not because journalism is “history in a hurry,” but because they were so biased that if it fit with their narrative that conservatives/Trump supporters/anyone in a red MAGA cap is a violent, thuggish racist, then that’s all they needed to know to run with it.

This shows one more danger of having a biased news media that puts politics above professionalism.  It’s bad enough that ever since the Tea Party movement started, leftists have avoided thinking about why people rejected their failed policies by deluding themselves with the slanderous claim that anyone who disagrees with them is a fascist or racist (even the black people and other minorities who attended Tea Party rallies.)  That’s carried over times ten to Trump supporters.  If the media insist on protecting Democrats, they’d be doing them a bigger favor if they told the truth instead of simply repeating their self-serving talking points.  Over the long haul, it’s not healthy for anyone to believe their own bull hockey.

And it’s not good for the media, either, since I doubt that mealy-mouthed “correction” is going to convince the kid from Covington to drop his $250 million lawsuit.  Let’s hope that when he owns the Post, he’ll do a better job of running it.

What stood out to me in the assault on conservative incidents is--WHERE ARE THE HATE CRIME CHARGES? Heck, you say hello in the wrong tone to a liberal and you can be charged with a hate crime. Okay, I exaggerate a little. But, the 81 y/o man was assaulted because of his MAGA hat, and the thug is only being charged with assault. Wonder if he would have tried that on someone his own age and size. No, cowards pick on those least likely to be able to defend themselves. As for the berkeley assault--the Alameda County District Attorney office is "considering" whether or not to file assault and harassment charges (note that hate crime isn't mentioned here, either.) I don't know, maybe they are waiting for a video they hope would show the victim jumping in front of the thug and demanding he read the information they provide? I'm sure, although the university mouths mealy-mouthed "we encourage all speech" (which their actions have proven to be a blatant lie) the thug will remain a student there, probably be given a snowflake award or something.

What madness has overtaken this country? It seems the election of President Trump has so unhinged the left, their minds and souls have splintered. Those of us who were upset that barack Obama was elected TWICE to the presidency didn't riot in the streets nor attack people who supported him. We knew he would not be president forever and that our country would come back from the damage caused by his administration. What we need is a return to common sense values and revival in this country. Evil has entered our world and it's time we took back our people.

Dems are starting to decry the lack of civility in politics, but they either say it is an "unfortunate" characteristic of politics, or it is the fault of Rep/Trump racists, etc. Let's compile a list of how THEY are the ones promoting this lack; e.g. Biden having to apologize for saying Pence is a "decent guy".

RE: SCOTUS decision on war monument. I really hate to do this but you are in error when you say the anti-Christian activists claim the war memorial violates "the separation of church and state". They claim by misinformation and repeating the phrase over and over that it is part of the Constitution but as I'm sure you are well aware it is not. Generations of children have been raised now to believe it is but you can't amend the Constitution by popular belief. A bad decision by suspect jurists influenced by whatever reason by a mendacious ACLU lawyer ripping Thomas Jefferson's words completely out of context can't amend the Constitution either. The Constitution's words have not changed yet pop culture believes it has. I think a better phrasing of your words would be "violates the Establishment Clause" or " violates the left's invisible ink version of the US Constitution visible only to those with magic leftist glasses."
Keep up the good work. Your commentaries are a breath of fresh air in a world polluted by leftist ideology.

Those (not)thinking to confront/assault the old folk need to heed my departed father-in-law's rumination about getting old. He loved riding his Honda motorcycles well into his 70's, riding alone when I wasn't around, and became wary of the 'biker gangs' tooling through "his" country. He was a long retired chief mechanic at what was the Tennessee Copper Company. So, one day after we finished a ride, he said: "Son, back in the day, I could pretty much hold my own with most any man, but now, with this arthritis mixed into these 70+ years, well, I'd just have to shoot'em!" He always carried a favorite 1911 Colt .45 on that cycle, and even at his age, anything as small as a hand sized rock was not safe out to 50 yards! Somebody should advise these "youngster toughs" that they might not wanna be the first recorded DEAD from bowing up on some 'old person!' As they say, 'It's Just A Matter of Time....

This is good news. I am glad the perpetrators have been arrested and will face a judge. I hope the Covington bunch own the WaPo and can turn it around into a conservative real newspaper.

Thank you for all the reporting that you do! We will probably never see any of this published on the front page as it should be! Now if only the major TV stations that are so biased would take to reporting only the facts! And the true facts!!

Thank you for the information you shared. I am conservative but I have been wearied by the sensationalism that Blabber Buz and other organizations have been doing. Thank you for a logical report without the attempt to inflame emotional response. I appreciate you.

    Re: The "Editor's Note"
The WaPo did not issue a correction or a retraction of the events... just an editor's note. The only correction in their trying to weasel out of this predicament regarded the hateful Nathan Philips and his "war" service.

I've said the following to employees of a local newspaper, but it applies to all of the leftist media: "Right now you print what the Democratic party wants you to print. One day you'll find you're printing what they tell you to print. At that point you'll be working for Pravda."

Mike again Thank you for your comments.
I get so tired of slanted news. Last night was horrible I think my only local News carrier ,m I think is CBS. Just insisted on bashing President Trump for not completing deal with North Korea Kim. Also didn't do anything about thye student who died as a result of coma. By North Korea.
Thankfully I had good news President Trump did stop and honored Troups in anchorage, Alaska . Doubt if that was covered even in News Paper. I haven't read all of it yet.

Your commentaries are a breath of fresh air in a world polluted by leftist ideology.

it's a shame the news is not new's, it's a way to destroy people the left don't like, and if they cause harm to any one by reporting false new's they need charged tried and sentenced for the crime.

I sure hope this kid wins his lawsuit and that it puts the WAPO out of business. I'd like to see CNN put out of business too. These people are so detrimental to our country and our freedom. Pelosi has to go too. Of course, the best way to get rid of her is to vote REPUBLICAN the next time around.

Personally, I hope that the WaPoo DID look at the full video and disregarded it ... which would demonstrate and establish a blatant disregard for the truth ... which in turn should massively add to the damages the WaPoo incurs.

    Just saying.
