“It’ll eventually come out. You cannot hide something this corrupt this long.”
So said FOX News legal analyst Gregg Jarrett on Monday’s “Hannity,” speaking in the context of new revelations about James Comey personally stopping an offer of immunity to Julian Assange that would have provided technical evidence of whether or not Russia did the hacking of documents relating to the 2016 campaign. It’s a stunning story, but before getting into the details, I’d like to make an observation that I think is really important right now.
OUR TOP STORY: What happened at the Red Hen was nothing like the Christian baker case
Going through readers’ comments, I’ve been struck for some time about the note of resignation underlying many of them. It’s understandable; when Obama was President nothing happened to political operatives --- I mean, “public servants” --- serving under him who misused their offices and/or lied: Lois Lerner at the IRS, former Attorney General Eric Holder and former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, just to name a few. Some, perhaps most, will never be held accountable in a court of law. Common sense tells us that Obama was involved, he’ll probably live out his life in a mansion in Hawaii. Hillary has always skated; she likely will again, though we KNOW what she did (well, a lot of it). And it’s frustrating when the only wall to be put up is the one around the DOJ.
But the Clinton/Obama years are over. And we’re going to dig until we reach the dregs of what they left behind. This is how the swamp is drained; it’s a slow, mucky, often demoralizing process. We don’t know what’s under there, but we know there are big gators, the kind who went to Harvard and wear suits and carry briefcases.
If Hillary had been elected President, we never would have known. But she WASN’T, and while we were on our knees thanking God, the swamp dwellers were going into panic mode. Imagine how much more corrupt the system would have been after just one term –- maybe two, dear lord –- of Hillary Clinton. Just look at the hysterics going on now among deranged “progressives”; we’ve churned the waters and disturbed their comfortable lairs. At this point, the process is underway; it won’t be pretty but it won’t be stopped.
One caveat: if the Democrats win the midterms, they’ll do whatever it takes to stop the clean-up. They’ll subvert democracy by impeaching the President over nothing and take control of the investigative committees in the House and Senate. They’ll do it with impunity, with the media on their side. This scenario must be prevented on Election Day.
Bu thanks to Republicans on those committees taking their constitutional duty seriously, and certain reporters who should receive Pulitzers but probably aren’t counting on it, we are getting to the bottom of this. I believe Gregg Jarrett is right.
Now, here’s that fascinating expose from The Hill’s John Solomon, one of the “certain reporters” referred to above, about more of James Comey’s swampiness. To make a long story short (a link to the full details is below), in January of 2017, Julian Assange’s legal team made overtures to the new Trump administration about negotiating an immunity deal with the DOJ. Assange, as you know, was holed up in the Ecuadorian embassy in London, where he remains to this day, and the intelligence community believed he possessed information and technical expertise that would benefit our national security. He was not going to reveal sources, he said, but redactions were negotiable.
And this part, I believe, is key: According to Solomon, Assange offered to include “technical evidence and discussion regarding who did not engage in the DNC releases.”
One of the players in this back-and-forth, Democratic Sen. Mark Warner of Virginia, apparently talked with then-FBI Director Comey about their negotiations, and Comey, amazingly, passed along instructions through him to “stand down.” Do NOT pursue this. According to multiple sources, the FBI counterintelligence team did not know what motivated Comey to come out with such a baffling directive. It muddled the negotiations and the damage was done: Assange released some specifics of our CIA malware used for cyberattacks, then-CIA Director Mike Pompeo slammed Wikileaks as “a hostile intelligence service,” and, gosh, we never did find out who it was who did not hack the DNC.

Russia, perhaps? Assange has insisted that it was not the Russian government or any other state operative, but all we have is his word. He was going to provide hard evidence. That would have destroyed the narrative that Russians did the DNC hacking and perhaps add support to the theory that it was an inside job.
Don’t lose heart. Instead, brush up your Shakespeare, who said, “Truth will out.” It WILL be known.
