Evening Edition - March 22

March 22, 2019

Programming note: the Mueller investigation officially completed this afternoon after Mike Huckabee finished drafting the Evening Edition, so please stay tuned for extensive commentary and coverage of the Special Counsel's Report at www.MikeHuckabee.com.

--------------------------

Two stories hit the news Thursday that when viewed side-by-side offer the starkest contrast yet between President Trump and the Peanut Gallery of Democrats seeking to replace him.

Trump declared that after 52 years, it’s important for the United States finally to fully recognize Israel’s control over the Golan Heights.  He called it an area of “critical strategic and security importance to Israel” and stability in the region, which is indisputably true.  I just returned from Israel, where I visited with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who thanked Trump and tweeted, “At a time when Iran seeks to use Syria as a platform to destroy Israel, President Trump boldly recognizes Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights.”  Netanyahu accuses Iran of attempting to set up a terrorist network in the Golan Heights to launch attacks on Israel.

https://www.westernjournal.com/ap-the-latest-trump-says-israel-sovereign-over-golan-heights/

The many critics of Israel claim the Golan Heights, seized from Syria during the 1967 Six Day War, is “occupied territory.”  Trump will no doubt take a lot of flak for recognizing Israel’s claim to it.  But one  thing his supporters most admire is that he is a fighter.  When he believes something is right, he does it.  If anyone hits him for it, he’ll punch back rather than back down.  It’s true that some of us often wish he’d pick his battles more judiciously, but that’s small potatoes compared to the fact that he has the guts to take a strong stand on the big, important issues like this and face down any brickbats that come his way.

Compare that to the pathetic troupe vying for the Democratic nomination.

https://www.westernjournal.com/ap-several-2020-democrats-say-they-wont-speak-at-aipac-summit/

Democrats didn’t even have the guts to denounce anti-Semitism in their fuzzy “we oppose hate, generally” resolution, or to call out the anti-Semites in their own party. Now, their Presidential candidates are afraid to show up at next week’s annual policy conference of AIPAC, the American Israel Public Affairs Committee.  Why? The liberal advocacy group MoveOn called on them to skip this year’s conference because AIPAC had employed “anti-Muslim and anti-Arab rhetoric” and opposed the Iran nuke deal (but not nearly forcefully enough for my taste.)

So compare and contrast:  President Trump stands up for America’s ally Israel, keeps promises other politicians put off for over half a century, and is willing to face down blistering attacks from around the world to do it.  The Democrats roll over, show their bellies like whipped puppies, and abandon Israel out of fear of a bunch of loudmouth leftist cranks with a mailing list.

Is this seriously what Americans want in their top national leader?  I’ve seen gummy worms with stiffer spines than any of these Democratic candidates are showing.

Please remember to keep the people of the upper Midwest areas devastated by floods in your prayers.  With the waters starting to recede in some places, residents are returning to what’s left of their homes, with damage estimated at up to $1.3 billion in Nebraska alone.

https://www.accuweather.com/en/weather-news/flood-damages-exceed-13-billion-in-nebraska-as-floodwaters-begin-to-slowly-recede-across-central-us/70007768

All those flood waters from melting snow also have forecasters warning Southern cities along rivers to brace for possible record floods this Spring. Those in the pathway should avail themselves of both prayer and preparation.  There’s more info here:

https://www.westernjournal.com/ap-forecasters-potentially-historic-flooding-threatens-south/

A reminder: one of my favorite charities, Samaritan’s Purse, is already on the scene in Nebraska to help flood victims.  You can read about that effort here, and if you can spare some cash to help your fellow Americans, it’s as easy as clicking the donate button.

---------------------------

A new survey commissioned by the Samuel Hubbard Shoe Company found that while 6 in 10 Americans fear the First Amendment is under threat, the rest of their rights could also be threatened and many wouldn’t even know it.  About half thought that “liberty” and “the pursuit of happiness” were among the five rights listed in the First Amendment. (I guess we're lucky nobody thought it included the right not to pay a lot for a muffler.) Only 26% knew how many Amendments were in the Bill of Rights (spoiler alert: it’s 10), while just one in five was even familiar with the term “Bill of Rights.”

https://www.studyfinds.org/survey-half-americans-dont-know-what-first-amendment-protections/

There’s more at the link.  Along with the growing number of young people who think socialism is just peachy, this ignorance of our Constitutional rights shows the crying need for better civics and history education in American schools.  Music education would help, too.  Then maybe young people would learn the words of the great philosopher Joni Mitchell: “Don’t it always seem to go that you don’t know what you’ve got ‘till it’s gone.”

 ----------------------------------

Today’s major media outlets such as the New York Times or the Washington Post are no longer the professional sources of journalism that they were 50 years ago.  Their open opposition to Donald Trump, the editorializing on the front pages and reporters’ self-descriptions of being part of “the resistance” show that Trump is not mistaken when he views them as being biased against him and not being real reporters of objective facts.

Oh, I’m sorry, did you think that I was saying all that?  Nope, that was venerable ABC news man Ted Koppel.

This is a useful recap of major Democrats embracing such radical notions as stacking the Supreme Court and eliminating the Electoral College.

https://www.westernjournal.com/ct/dem-bigwigs-launching-coordinated-strike-supreme-court-electoral-college-constitution/

It also sparked this thought about eliminating the Electoral College: The EC is designed to insure that Presidents must have broad-based support and not be elected only by a handful of densely-populated cities, where the residents have no understanding of the lives of people in other states.  (Imagine having a President picked by the same astute voters who elected the people who run New York City, Chicago, L.A., Seattle, San Francisco and Detroit.)

Since states are the laboratories for ideas the federal government might consider, what is happening in states such as Colorado and California where people in rural counties feel that the urban liberals who dominate their state governments are riding roughshod over their rights, destroying their livelihoods and showing no respect for their beliefs and traditions?  Those states are seeing secessionist movements that call for splitting the state apart.

In short, eliminating the Electoral College and putting all states under the thumb of far-left urban leaders chosen by New York and California is a recipe for another civil war.  That makes it the dumbest leftist idea since socialism.

Oh, and if anyone on the left wants to dispute that, I would remind them of what happened shortly after they realized that Trump would be their President for at least the next four years and they couldn't live under someone they didn't support: a movement sprung up among California leftists to secede from the union.

Hilarious Video:  If the crowd of Democratic Presidential candidates and their weird, quirky, awkward behaviors seem vaguely familiar, maybe it’s because you saw the boss, Michael Scott, demonstrate them all on “The Office.”

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was apparently not correct when she claimed her high school thought she needed remedial education just because she was bilingual. I imagine most of us assumed immediately that that’s not why they thought she needed remedial education.

https://www.westernjournal.com/ct/prof-busts-aocs-cocky-claim-extremely-high-test-score-high-school/

--------------------------------------

As I listen to the rapidly-growing crowd of Democratic Presidential candidates outlining their proven-failure plans, it astounds me that they and their supporters actually want to return to Democratic rule. In a time of record-low unemployment, they talk about how they’re going to create jobs by imposing the same high tax/heavy regulation policies that strangled job growth for eight years.  Do they really have such short memories that they don’t remember just a few years ago, when all their policies were in effect and none of them worked?

For instance, under Barack Obama and (for his first two years at least) a solidly Democratic Congress, we got a health care plan whose effect on hiring was nearly as big a disaster as the plan’s website.  The Democrats turned what should have been a two-year recession at most into eight years of slow-growth stagnation.  All Trump had to do was completely reverse Obama’s policies, and it was like cutting the anchor on a speed boat.  In just two years, we have record job creation, GDP growth we had been assured was no longer possible, and manufacturing jobs returning to America that we’d been told by “experts” were never coming back.

And I know this isn’t as big a story as Trump’s latest OUTRAGEOUS Tweet, but did anyone in the media notice that as of Wednesday, ISIS lost its last stronghold in the Middle East when Baghouz, Syria, was liberated?  The terror group’s leaders fled, and it’s expected that they’ll try to blend in with the population and launch insurgent attacks, so they’ll remain a threat that the US will still need to deal with.  But their dreams of a Caliphate stretching across the Middle East and around the world have been crushed in just two years, after eight years of expansion (and murder, rape and slavery of innocents) under Obama.  Once again, all it took was for Trump to reverse Obama’s "lead from behind" and suicidal rules of engagement and turn our military loose to do its job, and the job got done.

https://www.westernjournal.com/breaking-isis-caliphate-officially-fallen-last-stronghold-liberated-report/

When I see so many people calling for, longing for and expressing absolute confidence in the return to power of liberals even further left that the last batch of incompetents, espousing the same policies that have failed every time they've been tried for over a century, I can’t help thinking of an old “Little Moron” joke:

Why did the Little Moron keep hitting himself on the head with a hammer?  Because it felt so good when he stopped.

This is like preaching to the choir - you have such a great audience, but in case there's someone out there on the fence about Socialism - this is what it is:

Socialism is repeated often from our 2020 Democratic presidential candidates. Socialist centrally-planned economics invariably fail due to their inherent and integral failure to encourage, develop and nurture the essential potential of its people by lack of ‘incentivation’ which is the practice of building incentives in order to motivate the people within it. Socialism is a failure because it suppresses the human spirit and has caused the collapse of many countries.

Saul David Alinsky (January 30, 1909 – June 12, 1972) was a Jewish American community organizer and writer. He is generally considered to be the founder of modern community organizing. He is often noted for his 1971 book Rules for Radicals. The following is based on Alinsky’s eight steps from democracy to socialist society. Barack Obama quotes him often in his book and Hillary Clinton did her thesis on Alinsky. Here is Alinsky’s list on how to achieve socialism. The words in parentheses show where the USA is leaning that way.

There are 8 levels of control that must be obtained before a country is able to create a socialist/communist State. The first is the most important.

    1. Healthcare: “Control Healthcare and you control the People”.

    2. Poverty: Increase the Poverty level as high as possible.” Poor People are easier to control and will not fight back if the government is providing everything for them to live.

    3. Debt: Increase the National Debt to an unsustainable level.” That way you are able to increase Taxes, and this will produce more Poverty.

    4. Gun Control: Remove the ability to defend themselves from the Government. That way you are able to create a Police State – total local control.

    5. Welfare: Take control of every aspect of their lives (Food, Livestock, Housing, and Income).

    6. Education: Take control of what people read & listen to, take control of what children learn in School.

    7. Religion: Remove faith in God from the Government and Schools.

    8. Class Warfare: Divide the People into the Wealthy against the Poor. Racially divide. This will cause more discontent and it will be easier to Tax the Wealthy with full support of the voting Poor.

The bases are all covered! We are ripe! Fundamental Transformation is happening to our Great Country.

In the course of nearly four decades of political organizing, Alinsky received much criticism, but also gained praise from many public figures. His organizing skills were focused on improving the living conditions of poor communities across North America.

Time magazine wrote in 1970 that “It is not too much to argue that American democracy is being altered by Alinsky’s ideas. Conservative author William F. Buckley, Jr. said in 1966 that Alinsky was “very close to being an organizational genius.

For those on the fence: "There are none so blind as they who will not see".

You want to see what the Democrats can do in a short time? Look at Maine. Our governor wants to allow abortions without a doctor present. Our "budget" is already taking money out of our reserves that the last governor, a Republican, managed to take from a deficit to a positive of almost a BILLION dollars. Tax and Spend.

All those flood waters from melting snow also have forecasters warning Southern cities along rivers to brace for possible record floods this Spring. Those in the pathway should avail themselves of both prayer and preparation.  There’s more info here:

A reminder: one of my favorite charities, Samaritan’s Purse, is already on the scene in Nebraska to help flood victims.  You can read about that effort here, and if you can spare some cash to help your fellow Americans, it’s as easy as clicking the donate button.

I have a question . Now that Mueller has wrapped up and after months of FBI investigations, Clapper and Brennan's efforts, and the Special Counsel's probe, what makes Fatso Nadler think he is some super investigator?
