A thought-provoking article

By Mike Huckabee

This is a thought-provoking article at Real Clear Politics by Kalev Leetaru of the George Washington University Center for Cyber & Homeland Security.

https://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2021/10/13/a_call_to_amend_section_230_for_social_media_transparency_146555.html

It’s a suggestion for an amendment to the Section 230 protection against lawsuits for social media and Big Tech companies. They get that protection because they’re supposed to be impartial platforms, not biased publishers. But nobody with a brain believes that they are acting in an unbiased way as they have become increasingly bold in censoring and demonetizing any views that vary from the “approved” Silicon Valley limousine liberal narrative, often with no explanation.

Some critics want that protection repealed. Others call for making these outlets public utilities. But Leetaru argues that there’s a less drastic solution that might actually draw bipartisan support. It’s a transparency amendment to force them to make public the rules, algorithms, management directives and other data they use to determine when someone is censored. They claim their process is unbiased, but they won’t show us what that process is. Forcing it into the open might force them to actually make it unbiased. At the very least, it would give policymakers the facts they need to determine whether federal action needs to be taken.

It’s worth thinking about, especially if you believe that sunshine is the best disinfectant.

Prayers needed

By Mike Huckabee

Please pray for the safe return of 17 missionaries, including children, from Ohio-based Christian Aid Missionaries, who have reportedly been kidnapped by a vicious gang in Haiti.

https://www.foxnews.com/world/haiti-gang-kidnap-missionary-group-children

The gang, known as 400 Mawozo, is widely-feared and known for targeting religious groups.

https://pjmedia.com/news-and-politics/rick-moran/2021/10/17/haiti-gang-kidnaps-17-american-missionaries-including-children-n1524532

At the moment, there are few details known. Until we know more, please keep them in your prayers.

Team Biden heads to Scotland

By Mike Huckabee

Thirteen Biden Cabinet members and top White House officials are heading off to Scotland. The bad news: they don’t plan to stay there.

https://www.foxnews.com/opinion/biden-team-climate-summit-un-green-inflation-liz-peek

They’re all flying to Glasgow because, with inflation skyrocketing, Americans and allies still trapped in Afghanistan, the border a wide-open war zone, the supply chain in serious trouble and worries about everything from COVID to winter heating oil supplies, they all have to go address the true biggest threat: the weather. Yes, they’re all jetting off to another UN-sponsored climate conference, which could have been conducted on Zoom without generating many tons of CO2.

The participants will include Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, who just returned to the “job” after two months off for paternity leave. He’s taking a lot of flak for leaving his post in August and not informing the public, as supply chain problems with our ports and trucking escalated. With their uncanny ability to find a straw man and beat it, leftists accused anyone who criticized his actions of being homophobic and opposed to parental leave. Of course, both things are irrelevant: this has nothing to do with him being gay or whether parental leave is good. It’s about having the sense to know that if you have a vital job, you can’t just take off for two months without having someone competent to fill in for you. Apparently, nobody has been covering his post.

Not that it would have been any better if he were on the job. Karol Markowitz at the New York Post has a good article on how he’s just one of many unqualified Biden appointees who seem to disappear as things they’re supposed to be in charge of spiral out of control (anyone seen Kamala Harris anywhere near the border lately?)

https://nypost.com/2021/10/17/biden-administrations-mishandling-of-supply-chain-crisis-feeds-inflation/

She notes that Buttigieg was made Transportation Secretary to reward him for dropping out of the race and endorsing Biden, and because he said he likes trains. Markowitz writes, “My 5-year-old likes trains, too. Yet just because he can say ‘Choo choo!’ with enthusiasm doesn’t mean he can oversee the country’s transportation system.” By comparison, Buttigieg’s predecessor, Elaine Chao, was the daughter of the founder of a major shipping company and had an extensive federal resume, including former Secretary of Labor, Deputy Secretary of Transportation and Chair of the Federal Maritime Commission.

So Buttigieg won’t be working to fix the supply chain crisis he knows nothing about. Instead, he’ll be in Glasgow, dealing with climate science…which he also knows nothing about.

The country’s in the very best of hands!

Extremists invade and occupy the Interior Department

By Mike Huckabee

Bulletin! Bulletin! Last week, dozens of extremists invaded and occupied the Interior Department where federal officials were working, and attempted to disrupt the people’s business. Video showed the crowd cheering on a protester as he tried to force his way through a closed door, and one overwhelmed officer attempting to hold the mob at bay with a taser. Multiple police and security officers were injured in the melee.

They must all be identified, jailed and, eventually, charged with treason and insurrection while Congress holds a 9/11-style commission investigation!

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10098329/Dozens-climate-activists-arrested-clash-cops-Interior-Department.html

Oh, wait: they were LEFTWING environmental extremists. Well, never mind, then. Nothing to see here…

Spokesperson for Biden’s Interior Secretary: “Interior Department leadership believes strongly in respecting and upholding the right to free speech and peaceful protest.''

Sure, they do. As long as you're a leftwing radical and not a Trump voter or a concerned parent.

US Civil Rights Commission members blast Garland

By Mike Huckabee

The four conservative members of the US Commission on Civil Rights have written a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland, blasting him for his memo threatening to sic the FBI on concerned parents who protest at school board meetings. Here's the story...

https://redstate.com/mike_miller/2021/10/17/us-civil-rights-commissioners-ask-blistering-questions-about-garland-labeling-parents-as-domestic-terrorists-n458046

And here’s the letter in full:

http://www.newamericancivilrightsproject.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Letter-to-Attorney-General-Garland-10.15.2021.pdf

They say they’ve combed the Internet looking for examples of any parents acting in a way that would constitute a national problem, and what they’ve mostly found makes them proud to be Americans. They note that if there are examples of some parents making threats, it’s a state and local law enforcement issue, not federal. They end the letter by demanding that Garland provide the Civil Rights Commission with specific examples of the alleged “harassment, intimidation and threats of violence” that he claims justify federal intervention.

I’ll pass those along to you as soon as Garland provides them. But I wouldn’t hold my breath waiting if I were you.

Latest news from our two-tiered legal system

By Mike Huckabee

If a church pastor suggests that his congregation vote for a Republican who stands for the church’s values and protects freedom of religion, that’s illegal political campaign activity that could result in the church losing its tax exempt status.

If Virginia Democrat Terry McAuliffe does a campaign tour of black churches, as do other prominent Democrats such as Stacey Abrams on his behalf, and VP Kamala Harris makes a video promoting his campaign that’s sent to 300 black churches, that’s “democracy in action.”

https://redstate.com/nick-arama/2021/10/18/terry-mcauliffe-actually-posts-pics-of-himself-campaigning-in-churches-n458541

Here’s more on why that should be of concern to the IRS, but will they be too busy snooping into every bank account with over $600 in it to apply the law to Democrats?

https://townhall.com/tipsheet/rebeccadowns/2021/10/17/the-irs-might-have-something-to-say-about-how-kamala-harris-is-campaigning-for-terry-mcauliffe-n2597562?utm_campaign=rightrailsticky1

    Mr. Huckabee,
I am 74 years old and at this stage I DO NOT want to wish my life away, but 2024 cannot get here soon enough. Even 2022 will be a blessing. Possibly we can retake some seats in the House and Senate and at least get this Runaway Train slowed down!
I feel like we are in a Space Ship plummeting back to earth, and the landing is not going be very gentle.

Rest assured, Garland will provide examples to the Civil Rights Commission, even if he has to write them himself.

I have thought a great deal about responsibility, particularly that of our National leaders. Pelosi and Schummer appear to have their wits about them. Whether or not we like the answers or think they are political hacks, they are totally responsible for their words and actions. When it comes to Kamala, I would guess that she has been told to lay as low as possible, make no waves and be in the wings waiting to become President. It appears she is being virtually ignored except when they need to bring her out to remind every of how virtuous it was to elect a woman who is partly Black to be VP.

Now to Biden. We say it’s Biden’s this and .Biden’s that, but in truth it is not .Biden’s anything. He is mostly unaware of the impact of what he says or does, It is becoming very obvious to all that the President does what he is told, when he is told. The problem is, we don’t know by whom. The Executive Branch of government is being run by one or more unelected and unknown political appointees. I truly do not believe that the President can any longer go from point A to point B on his own. He has little or no realization of the effects of his decrees. It is really unfair to blame someone without the mental capacity to make these decisions or understand consequences. Some day in the future one or more if the White House staff will see a book in the offing and it will all come out. I thinks Jill’s assignment is to make sure he doesn’t fall or totter or say something truly outrageous. One problem is he probably truly believes he is doing a magnificent job because his staff snd wife tell him that he doing wonderfully and is much loved by the .American people. I doubt he even realizes what is happening on the border, to the supply chain, and the impact of the vaccine mandate on business and employment. Even his appointments have no doubt been dictated to him. It is evil for people to use an old man like this. I am sure the other world leaders find it confusing and off putting to be in a conversation with him.

Mayor Pete's qualifications for Secretary of Transportation. I live near South Bend, Indiana. Mayor Pete took federal money to transform two one way streets that moved traffic through South Bend quite smoothly, and turned them both into two way streets, greatly reducing the traffic flow, and making the streets more dangerous to travel. With the old streets, if you drove the speed limit, you could catch every traffic light green all the way through the city. Today, you are fortunate if you can get more than two green lights in a row. That is what we can look forward to as we move goods across the U.S.

Bulletin!

    DAILY BIBLE VERSE

The gang, known as 400 Mawozo, is widely-feared and known for targeting religious groups.
