Chalk One Up For The Good Guys

By Mike Huckabee

A California judge overruled state officials and ordered them to add Larry Elder’s name to the ballot in the list of challengers to Democrat Gov. Gavin Newsom. Why are Democrats so afraid of black conservatives?

Update On Masks For Children

By Mike Huckabee

Update: Yesterday, I linked to a story about a report in the journal JAMA Pediatrics that found that forcing children to wear facemasks for hours in school led to them inhaling dangerously high levels of carbon dioxide. I learned afterward that JAMA had pulled the study, citing numerous issues with its methodology, instruments and conclusions.

However, in a premium story at Epoch Times, the study’s lead author, clinical psychologist Dr. Harald Walach, took issue with the retraction.

https://www.theepochtimes.com/mkt_morningbrief/author-of-retracted-study-on-harm-of-mask-wearing-by-children-says-removal-was-political_3911445.html

Walach said JAMA failed to specify how he failed to provide sufficiently convincing evidence of his conclusions. He contends that the measurements are valid and were conducted by people with high levels of expertise, and he said the way to disprove research is to produce better and different results. He said he believes JAMA’s mention of “potential public health implications” suggests that the decision was based on politics, and the paper was retracted because some people didn’t like its data.

I’m not qualified to determine whether a particular medical study is valid or not, but it does seem odd that it was originally peer-reviewed and deemed solid enough to publish, then was retracted without being objectively disproven. The very suggestion that such decisions are being made based on politics is a large part of the reason why so many people have grown skeptical of our “expert” class, who insist they are unquestionably correct about something, then a month later, say the opposite and insist that that’s now unquestionably correct.

This is the slippery slope you go down when you start letting politics corrupt hard sciences, as it has been for a few years now. Another example is when medical organizations embrace transgender activism. It’s fine to declare that a man can become a woman by believing hard enough, if you’re a trans activist or an author of sci-fi novels or fairy tales. But please, don’t point to your medical degree and try to convince us that that’s a biological fact.

It’s like saying, “The Roman Colosseum is a Victorian house, and you must believe me because I’m an architect.” It doesn’t convince anyone that the Colosseum is a Victorian house. It just makes people assume you must be a really lousy architect.

In a related story, the CDC announced that a recent reported big spike in deaths following COVID vaccinations was a mistake. The number suddenly jumped from about 6,000 to over 12,000. Reporting The Truth About The Biden Administration

By Mike Huckabee

I kind of feel sorry for our poor media members, having to work so hard to report the truth about the Biden Administration. They’d no sooner finished burying the latest revelations from Hunter’s laptop about Joe being knee-deep in those business deals he claimed to know nothing about than this popped up and they had to rush for their shovels again:

https://www.westernjournal.com/hillary-2-0-biden-used-private-email-vp-send-government-intelligence-hunter-biden-report/?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=huckabee

JustTheNews.com reports (and stop me if this sounds familiar) that when he was Vice President, Joe Biden sent emails to his son Hunter from a private email account that included government information he’d received from the State Department.

Granted, it wasn’t quite as dangerous as some of the information that was compromised thanks to Hillary Clinton’s private email server, but it’s still the kind of thing that would be a major scandal if a Republican did it. Luckily for President Biden, we now have the Hillary precedent that says it’s okay to compromise government information on private email accounts, as long as you’re a prominent Democrat.

If you’d like to know the details, click the link. That’s probably the only place you’re ever likely to see them.

Part 3

By Mike Huckabee

Ben & Jerry’s leftist, anti-Israel virtue-signaling continues to backfire like Laurel & Hardy’s Model T. I already reported that their decision not to sell their ice cream in “occupied Palestinian territory” likely ran afoul of laws in both Israel and the US, and had sparked the removal of their products from stores in both nations. Now, here’s the latest ka-boom in their faces:

https://www.westernjournal.com/ben-jerrys-anti-israel-stunt-backfires-distributor-likely-forced-fire-palestinian-workers/?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=huckabee

The company’s distributor in the West Bank says that if they can’t sell ice cream there, it will take away such a large part of their business that they’ll have to fire 10 Palestinian workers who could never earn as much at any other job in the region.

So we might have a new candidate for Biggest Lie of All Time: “We’re Ben and Jerry, and we’re here to help you!”

The History Of Policing

By Mike Huckabee

The left rewrites history more than Hollywood rewrites movie scripts, and usually with the same putrid results. As tiring as it is to constantly have to correct it, I won’t let them get away with spreading these lies. So please jot this down for future reference:

“No, policing did NOT grow out of Southern slave patrols.”

https://www.westernjournal.com/debunking-another-liberal-lie-course-policing-didnt-begin-slavery/?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=huckabee

That link has a little history of policing, including the nugget that the first major police department in the US was established in Boston in 1838. It grew out of mercantile interests’ concerns about lawless urbanization, and their belief that a stable and orderly environment for business had to be maintained for the “collective good.”

What grew out of Southern slave patrols was Jim Crow laws and vigilante groups like the KKK. Guess who invented those? That’s some real history you’ll probably never learn in today’s schools.

Nevada Governor slams Biden

The Governor of Nevada slammed President Biden for locking up over 500,000 acres of mineral-rich land by declaring it the Avi Kwa Ame national monument. He said the White House didn’t even respond to his concerns before acting, and it will bring hardship to Nevadans for generations by blocking development and mining projects (but that’s okay: Biden will get all the minerals he needs for his electric car pipedream by buying them from China.)If I were him, I wouldn’t assume that Biden is personally responsible for this. I suspect it’s just another one of those “doing whatever his radical left staffers tell him to do” incidents. Especially since the other big story related to this was the fact that Biden couldn’t even manage to pronounce “Avi Kaw Ame” despite multiple stabs at it.

Cereal Giant Kellogg’s proves how flaky it is

I recently wrote about the nearly $83 billion (yes, with a “b”) that woke corporations showered on Black Lives Matter and other leftist groups to keep from being called racist (not that it helped them.) But while the leaders of BLM were celebrating getting all that money by buying mansions and putting their relatives on the payroll, it seems that nobody was talking about the effects on the companies of giving away all that moolah. Now that we finally are talking about that (like the focus on Silicon Valley Bank crashing and leaving their depositors hanging out to dry, but somehow having $74 million to give to BLM), here’s a story that went overlooked: The Federalist reports that the cereal giant Kellogg’s proved how flaky its corporate leaders are by giving a heaping bowlful of cash - $91 million! – to BLM and a campaign to “fuel innovative and actionable solutions to build a racially equitable future,” all less than a year after employees went on strike to protest cuts in benefits. These included reduced health care benefits, limited vacation days and enforced work weeks as long as 84 hours.

Extensive collusion between the Biden administration and the National School Board Association

The Biden “Justice” Department continues to claim they just can’t figure out who might be firebombing pro-life pregnancy centers (it can’t be those sweet kids from Antifa; why, that’s not a terrorist group, it’s just an “idea.”) But the Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government and House Judiciary Committee just released a report exposing extensive collusion between the Biden administration and the National School Board Association to brand parents as terrorists for criticizing school lockdowns, critical race theory and inappropriate sexual content in the classroom. The report includes a detailed timeline showing how the NSBA worked with the DOJ, the White House and the Department of Education to push for federal investigations of parents around the country, motivated by political concerns, not law enforcement.

The spiritual side of our lives really does matter

When I was growing up, my bedtime ritual always included a fairy tale that started with “Once upon a time...” and ended with the comforting words we all remember: “And they lived happily ever after.” As a child of the optimistic 1950s, I dreamed that life might be like that: whatever obstacles, dangers or perils might come my way, in the end, I would live happily ever after.

Why Art and Music Are Essential in Schools

Aside from letting leftist indoctrination take over our public school system, the biggest mistake we conservatives made in education over the years was in thinking that art and music classes were expendable luxuries and should be slashed to concentrate on “the three ‘R’s.” Not only are art and music classes important in themselves, but they are also beneficial to helping students excel in other subjects, including math and reading.

The first school in which we enroll, and the most important in shaping our future, is our home. A casual view of modern TV shows might lead us to believe that parents don’t matter. How to prevent young people from falling prey to socialism

I got a comment from a reader arguing that one reason young people fall prey to socialism (aside from being brainwashed by their teachers) is that they feel the capitalist system is failing them. They were told they had to get college degrees if they wanted good jobs, and encouraged to take out huge student loans. Now, they’re saddled with crippling debt, and those degrees aren’t opening the doors to jobs that pay enough to ever get out of the hole.
