Evening Edition - March 31

March 31, 2020 |

At his Monday press briefing, President Trump introduced another leading business person who is joining the government in the coronavirus response. Mike Lindell, founder of the phenomenally successful American company My Pillow, praised Trump’s actions and encouraged Americans to use their enforced home stays to spend time with their families, pray, read the Bible and reconnect with God.

Lindell has refocused 75% of his pillow factory output for the time being on making much-needed N95 surgical face masks for health care workers, with plans to produce 50,000 masks a day. You can see video and read more here:

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/mypillow-founder-mike-lindell-at-white-house-coronavirus-briefing-tells-people-to-pray-during-crisis

I’m not at all surprised to see Mike Lindell putting public service over profit, and speaking out about his religious faith in a place where that’s often mocked and scorned. Indeed, some snarkers on the Internet tried it, but I sense that we have entered a more serious new era, and Americans are fresh out of patience for juvenile partisan sniping from people who would rather criticize and attack than pitch in and help.

https://townhall.com/tipsheet/bethbaumann/2020/03/30/lefties-are-triggered-because-american-businesses-are-taking-part-in-the-coronavirus-briefings-n2566013

Here’s a specific example of an attempt at adolescent eye-rolling at Trump and Lindell that brought a perfect response. It suggests that these leftists’ 15 minutes as the self-proclaimed “cool kids” of social media (that stretched into three annoying years) are at long last over:

https://pjmedia.com/instapundit/363220/

Mike Lindell is one of the great American success stories, and so popular with Americans that when he appeared on my TBN show in 2018, the studio audience was more excited about seeing him live and getting his autograph than any other celebrity or politician on the show (certainly more than about seeing me!) And that success is well-deserved. If you don’t know the story of how his life was nearly destroyed by drugs and alcohol, and how his faith in God not only saved him but led him to undreamed-of success that he now uses to help countless others in similar peril, then you need to see my interview with him. Trust me, you will be inspired:

Let’s also throw a grateful thank-you to the suit maker Brooks Brothers, which is stepping up to start making 150,000 face masks a day. Brooks Brothers is one of the last remaining companies that still makes clothes in the USA instead of in foreign cheap labor markets. Wow, whoever imagined that there might someday be a reason America would want to encourage manufacturers to keep those jobs in America?

Just yesterday, I wrote about House Speaker Nancy Pelosi accusing President Trump of “fiddling while Rome burns” and accusing him of being responsible for American deaths, particularly in her San Francisco district, for not taking the coronavirus pandemic seriously enough fast enough. It was a comment that Sen. Lindsay Graham rightly called “the most shameless, disgusting statement by any politician in modern history.”

Could we also add “and the most hypocritical”? Because not only was Pelosi distracting Trump with her stupid impeachment crusade while he was trying to keep the virus out of the US in January, but as recently as February 24, she was urging people in San Francisco to ignore the virus warnings and come out to big public gatherings. I quote:

“We want to be careful about how we deal with it, but we do want to say to people ‘Come to Chinatown, here we are — we're, again, careful, safe — and come join us.'”

https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/pelosi-encouraged-public-gatherings-in-late-february-weeks-after-trumps-china-travel-ban

Hope you don’t get any blood-stained fingerprints on your fiddle, Madam Secretary.

---------------------------

Isn’t it disgusting how some politicians are so beholden to wealthy donors that they would exploit the current health crisis to try to give a big tax break to the richest of the rich

I refer, of course, to Nancy Pelosi:

https://townhall.com/tipsheet/mattvespa/2020/03/31/how-pelosi-and-the-democrats-plan-to-give-a-lot-of-money-to-millionaires-n2566029

------------------------------

Controversy is raging near Tampa, Florida, where the sheriff issued an arrest warrant for the pastor of the River at Tampa Bay Church, after seeing a live-stream of Sunday’s packed service in defiance of guidelines to stay at home and avoid crowds to stop the spread of the coronavirus.

https://www.westernjournal.com/florida-pastor-arrested-holding-church-services-amid-coronavirus-clampdown/

The church argues that, like a hospital, it is an essential service and must be available to offer help and comfort to people 24/7. But the sheriff said, “I believe there’s nothing more important than faith during a time like this. And as a sheriff’s office, we would never impede someone’s ability to lean on their religious beliefs as a means of comfort. But practicing those beliefs has to be done safely.”

Feel free to use the comments section to tell me where you come down on this argument. You’ll find more details at the link above, and here are a couple of other points to consider:

1. The services were being live-streamed online, since that’s how the sheriff saw them, and many churches are doing that in an attempt to balance regular worship with public safety.

2. We’re still not certain exactly how this disease spreads, only that it does, it can be devastating, and being in close quarters with many other people can have terrible consequences. For instance, Albany, Georgia, is a virus hotspot, and the spread there has been linked to people who attended two funerals.

https://www.walb.com/2020/03/17/watch-live-dougherty-co-address-latest-coronavirus/

And in Washington state, a choir rehearsal became a “super-spreading event” after 45 people who attended caught the virus, and two have died. This happened even though all were reportedly careful to follow guidelines.

https://nypost.com/2020/03/30/washington-choir-rehearsal-turns-deadly-after-coronavirus-kills-2/

God is everywhere that we gather in His name, and if that means gathering online for a short while to keep our families safe, I believe He will understand.

-----------------------

You can tell that Americans are fed up with the media’s obsessive Trump-bashing when they have serious problems to deal with by this remarkable interview on CNN. It’s TDS victim Chris Cuomo interviewing his more serious and accomplished brother, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, and trying to bait him into saying nasty things about the President, whom he’s working with to save his state's people from the virus.

https://www.newsbusters.org/blogs/nb/nicholas-fondacaro/2020/03/30/fredo-fail-cuomo-nags-brother-bash-trump-run-president

I love the way Chris keeps badgering Andrew to badmouth Trump and announce that he’s running against him, while Andrew is forced to repeatedly explain that he actually has an adult job to do, and that the low intentions Chris is attributing to Trump are his interpretations, not what Trump said. CNN could use that service full time. I think you’d have to go back to the Smothers Brothers to see a better example of the “smart brother-dumb brother” comedy act.

-----------------------------

It’s been observed before how miraculous it is that no matter what crisis may strike the republic, leftists always think the solution is to do whatever they’d long pushed to do anyway but the public would never put up with it if they were thinking clearly. H.L. Mencken famously summed it up by saying that the aim of politics is to frighten the public into clamoring to be led to safety from a series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary.

Unfortunately, our recent hobgoblins – terrorists, drug cartels, pandemics – are far from imaginary, but that hasn’t kept some people from trying to exploit justifiable fear of them for political advantage.

Latest example: whoever would have guessed that the solution to stopping the spread of the coronavirus was to let sex offenders out of prison?

https://www.westernjournal.com/ny-releases-level-3-sex-offenders-convicted-raping-minors-part-covid-response/

In terms of rational responses, this ranks right down there with suing states to keep abortion clinics open instead of using their medical equipment to save lives because to the left, actually saving human lives would hamper the life-saving efforts of abortionists to end human lives.

Mike, upon my reading your statement, "Controversy is raging near Tampa, Florida, where the sheriff issued an arrest warrant for the pastor of the River at Tampa Bay Church" ....and then my going on to read your statement, "Feel free to use the comment section to tell me where you come down on this argument" , I was all set TO write my comment when, at the last minute, I decided to click on the link you gave TO this story, which changed everything!

What I want to do now is write what was going to BE my original comment BEFORE I read your article and then I will explain WHY my reading the article has now made it impossible to NOT add TO what was going to be my original comment...SO HERE IS MY INITIAL RESPONSE TO YOUR INVITATION FOR ME TO TELL YOU "WHERE I COME DOWN ON THIS ARGUMENT:"

Mike, in view of your generosity in posting my dissertation that I already wrote about where I stand on this argument...in your earlier TODAY'S EDITION...I will just refer you to IT!

While that is STILL true...in that I will not REPEAT what I wrote earlier...upon finding out that the pastor who was arrested was Rodney Howard-Browne this opened up a whole new can of worms, as they say!

I take that back...because finding out that this pastor was Rodney Howard-Browne didn't really open a NEW can of worms, it just added TO the number of the worms I spoke about in my last comment! That was clumsily expressed, but I am too tired to try and me more articulate THAN that!

Before I go on to say anything more....lest when I DO someone reading my comment may chide me by saying that the Lord tells us to "judge not", I want the reader to understand that Jesus was talking about hypocritical, self-righteous judgment because He also tells us to judge righteous judgment. The biblical meaning of the word "judge" is "discern" and the basic "rule" is that we are to judge DOCTRINES and DEEDS not HEARTS.....Had Christians judged Jim Jones and exposed him for the deceived man he was the people who bought his lie would not have committed suicide WITH him!

Rodney Howard-Browne....who claims to be a prophet...is a false prophet who has hurt a lot of people because he is so deceived! He was involved in the supposed revival in Pensacola where he, along with his other revivalists, claimed there was a mighty move of the Holy Spirit when, in REALITY, they were tapping into the demonic realm!!!

I cried out and cried out against this demonic deception, but, as always, I wound up crying to deaf ears....UNTIL THAT IS....PAUL CAIN, who, along WITH Rodney-Howard Browne, also claimed to be a prophet (he was actually revered as their leader) WAS EXPOSED AS AN ALCOHOLIC AND A HOMOSEXUAL! Another one who claimed to be a prophet, along with these men, was Todd Bentley who was recently exposed for sexual misconduct and other horrendous sins!

My friends, I don't know if Rodney Howard -Browne KNOWS he is deceived or not! If it takes jail to open his blind eyes then sending him to jail is an act of love to him as well as to those lives he is endangering not only by exposing people to the poison of the coronavirus, but also to the poison of his false gospel message
....which the apostle Paul would deem to be "another gospel" and, AS such, ACCURSED!!!!

Since the definition of Christ's love is "the desire for the loved one's ultimate best" ....and since there is no greater ultimate best than spending all of eternity in heaven "....then it is better that Rodney Howard -Browne spend time in jail rather than an eternity in hell!!! AND if anyone reading this statement cannot conceive that Rodney Howard -Browne could be THAT deceived, I suggest you take the time to read the comment I wrote to Mike's earlier newsletter today!

AND Rodney Howard-Browne's decision to NOT cancel "church" bears witness TO the fact of how he is deceived!!! If people are finding it such a sacrifice to not be able to attend church it is because they are missing their "fix"...their feel good high.... because preachers like Rodney Howard -Browne never talk about the COST of discipleship because they never talk about the CROSS....BOTTOM LINE...

Being able to attend a church service is NOT an "essential" for getting through this crisis...picking UP one's cross is....and it was BECAUSE the apostle Paul picked up his cross that he was able to say, "it is no longer I who live but Christ who lives in me"....and it was because Paul could say THAT that he was then able to say, "I consider all things to be dung...garbage....compared to the surpassing greatness of KNOWING Christ Jesus my Lord!" ......And it is the Christian who can SAY that who...during this pandemic.. is going to know His peace that passes all understanding, NOT the Christian who attends a church service!...THEREFORE, IT IS GOD'S WILL THAT THE CHURCHES BE CLOSED AND I COMMEND OUR PRESIDENT FOR UPHOLDING GOD'S WILL ON THIS ISSUE!!!!

My wife and I are Christians and we hate being out of church but if that is what it takes, then we should all do it. We are reading our bibles and watching Christian broadcasting on tv. Our church building is not where God resides. He resides in the hearts of everyone that loves, obeys and trusts in Him! God Bless you and I pray you stay safe.

I believe the Pastor is incorrect. Our church has streamed (only) services the past 3 weeks as well as prayer meetings 5 nights each week. The only people in the church w/him are the Associate pastor, filming techs & music. They plan to stream Easter & I believe through April or longer if needed.

    03/31/2020 07:23 PM

I am concerned about the Sheriff in Tampa arresting the Pastor because of church services being held in the church. I fully understand the reason behind the order against but yet I cannot support the arrest as the First Amendment of our Constitution prohibits laws against freedom of religion! Worshiping in church is a basic freedom that should never be outlawed! People should use common sense regarding their safety and the safety of others, but no matter how many laws we pass they will choose badly! Drunk driving for instance! Highly recommending people practice safe distancing, even in church, is good practice but making it illegal to gather together is not only unconstitutional but gives government power we will never be able to reclaim. Scripture warns us of this and we must stand up against it as much as possible.

    Two things:
A building is not the church, it is the people who love our Lord.
I do not think he is following Jesus commands when he said to obey the laws of the land. It was very irresponsible to place his congregation in such a situation.

Could someone please inform the reporters that Pres. Trump, VP Pence and the two doctors are NOT God???!! The continue to ask, over and over again, HYPOTHETICAL QUESTIONS that only God knows the answer to!!! What if we had done (this) earlier, and what if do (that),.... and if China starts doing ....(whatever) are we ready????
I am amazed at the patience exhibited by those giving answers. .... THE QUESTIONS ARE IMAGINATIVE and tiresome.
Ask God, He is the ONLY one with the answers to those “what if” questions. I’m sure He would LOVE to finally hear from you.

Sir, Mike Lindell is a super Patriot! He is absolute proof of God's existence and his mercy. Mike's testimony is one of gutter to wealth because of his love and faith in God the Father and Jesus Christ his son. Wealth is not a deterrent to going to Heaven, it is how you manage God's money he has given you guardianship of that decides if you go to Hell or not.

The one thing that bothers me is that when officials “order” us to stay home, that will mean freedom as we know it as Americans can be taken from us. This is certainly something we should & hopefully are doing staying at home, but I do resent being ordered by politicians who in great many respects love the power of rule feel that in future situations that they then have the power to restrain us if not following their orders.

Hey Mike, again I love your writing. I live here in Saint Petersburg, about a half hour from Tampa and commenting on the River and Rodney Howard Brown. It is my understanding that the Bible instructs us to obey the authorities. Also it is the Lord that puts people in position of leadership, so (please correct me if I am wrong) Mr. Brown went against God by disobeying the directive for social distancing. I am also reminded of Peter’s epistles when he warns us to be aware of false teachers.
Blessings Mike, to you and all your family please keep up the good work. I pray the Lord Jesus comes quickly

I haven't heard how many folks were in the on site services and I don't know what Florida's mandatory amount of no. of people, but I do believe in Romans the Bible talks a lot about obeying the law. Now our small church here set up live streaming with just the preacher's family in attendance. The Bible also talks about were two or more are gethered, I know my wife and I are one but we are two souls so Good was there.

On March 15th our Church gathered for service on the pretext that if we're serving, God will protect us. However, given that the Bible says to follow your government's laws, we met at our homes on the 22nd and 29th with live streaming. This week, I reached out to the childrens' Sunday school leader and the mens' and womens' Bible study group leaders and the special "life group"
leader who's "Godspeed" learning series we had stopped, and said, "Why don't we use the live streaming to continue those activities, too?" There is now a campaign to get the best of the web capabilities put to work to do that. Thank you Jesus !

I have a lot of comments on Dr. Rodney Howard-Brown. They won't all fit. I'll start with pointing out that nobody in the media asked him for a statement. He actually recorded a clear and reasonable point for continuing services at his church. Your staff should listen to it. Secondly, rather than taking the advice of secular scientists, he prayed and sought the council of the Bible before acting. Third, I believe, as he does, that God still heals the sick. Fourthly, if government picks when the Church can meet, the Constitution is of no effect. Fifth, you rightly have noted that we are reacting to much unsupported science on the spread and mitigation of the disease.

Churches should hold services online. No gatherings. This is for everyone’s safety. I’m 73yrs. old and have been inside my house only out to get mail and take out trash since March 12th or 13th. Why? So there will be a bed and ventilator available for someone who needs it. I watch church online. People at churches need to think about others first.

I have read that many years ago Christians had to meet in secret in the woods to have their worship service, so they wouldn't be discovered by the communist. We can worship through live streaming, and be fine, until it's safe to go to the church meeting place again. If you need your pastor then use the telephone, or text him, and be thankful for being blessed to do that.

How about the ship won't be in for 3 more weeks as it being tied up to the pier. Do these outlets make stupid statements so Fox will put them on its air so people get a chance to see ignorance second hand. Most of the country treat these outlets like a fart in the wind and hope the wind is strong and they are NOT down wind; If the nitwits pay taxes for what they do all I can say tax hike for the Hollow ones the toxic pollution they put on the air waves is very costly to clean up and somewhat destructive.

At first I was angered by the Florida Pastor's arrest. But after listening to differing points of view, I believe what the Tampa Bay Pastor was displaying was not faith, but rather presumptive arrogance. The Church of the 21st century has alternatives to meeting in large groups, one being online services. There really is no justification for damaging our witness to the world by lawlessness. This would be a good time to get used to congregating in private homes, as that is the church model of the future.

I believe the Pastor is incorrect. Our church has streamed (only) services the past 3 weeks as well as prayer meetings 5 nights each week. The only people in the church w/him are the Associate pastor, filming techs & music. They plan to stream Easter & I believe through April or longer if needed.

Think of your neighbor, as well as yourself, and do what you can to stay well.

Trust me, you will be inspired:

https://youtu.be/rwB3EPgDZZU

Let’s also throw a grateful thank-you to the suit maker Brooks Brothers, which is stepping up to start making 150,000 face masks a day. Brooks Brothers is one of the last remaining companies that still makes clothes in the USA instead of in foreign cheap labor markets. Wow, whoever imagined that there might someday be a reason America would want to encourage manufacturers to keep those jobs in America?

----------------------------------------

I believe the Pastor is incorrect. Our church has streamed (only) services the past 3 weeks as well as prayer meetings 5 nights each week. The only people in the church w/him are the Associate pastor, filming techs & music. They plan to stream Easter & I believe through April or longer if needed.

Sheriff is right and should be commended for his grace. Churches can use internet, radio and telephone.

Why can’t President Trump close down CNN for spreading non truths around the world. They are treasonous, trying to cause disruption of our democracy.

I pray for God to carry out His will concerning abortion clinics. It's pretty obvious that they aren't going to be stopped any other way.
It's awful that although we don't want to die, the most wicked of mankind are enjoying murdering the precious babies who have never done one evil thing. It's very sickening.

And the D.C. mayor just announced, if you are caught on the street during "shelter in place" you will be sent to jail for 3 months. Well, you might catch Corona-virus- but the jail won't be crowded! Common sense is not so common.

Think of your neighbor, as well as yourself, and do what you can to stay well.

I catch some of the hollow remarks made by the Propaganda outlets hollow people Toad and Madoff does anyone really watch these people Fox News will play a sound bite by these people blood on your Hands?
