Democrats told voters that if they won back the House, they were going to do great things for America. Instead, they’ve gone fishing – and it’s a never-ending fishing expedition on a quest for anything they can haul out of the sea, even minnows. I’m referring to the House Committees’ stunning abuse of power in subpoenaing the financial records of President Trump, his businesses, friends, associates and family members going back 10 years or even more, trying to find anything at all to use against him politically.
You might have heard all that and realized what an overreach it is, but here are some details make it even worse, as Trump’s attorneys explained to Politico why they are fighting the subpoenas:
“The House of Representatives is demanding, among other things, records of every single checking withdrawal, credit-card swipe, or debit-card purchase — no matter how trivial or small — made by each and every member of the Trump family,” including his children and even his grandchildren.

Think on that for a moment: People who somehow got themselves elected to Congress are using that awesome power and responsibility to badger a political opponent to let them hunt through over a decade’s worth of his personal credit card receipts, even those involving his grandkids.
How would you deal with people who are so hate-filled and deranged that they apparently hope to get you fired or put into prison if they can only prove your son spent more on your grandson’s fifth birthday gift than he did on your granddaughter’s Bat Mitzvah present?
I would love to see the personal financial records of the TDS terminal cases running these Committees. I bet you wouldn’t find a single receipt for anti-psychotic drugs, no matter how badly they were needed.

Must-read Article: Steve Feinstein at the American Thinker has one of the best analyses so far of the crowded Democratic Presidential field and the tactics the candidates are employing to try to win the nomination and the White House. It’s called “The Democrats Don’t Even Believe Themselves.”
I would compare his breakdown to a Milton-Bradley-like game of checking off boxes for various identity groups by claiming to be able to fix their grievances with handouts funded by taking money away from rich Republicans you blame them on. Check off enough grievance group boxes to get to 270 electoral votes and you win. You could call it “Grievance Group Bingo,” wit a little Monopoly money thrown in.
But if you’re looking for any evidence that these candidates care about doing anything that’s for the good of the country as a whole, or that they even believe in the principles that they declaim so passionately in public, Feinstein says forget it. That’s not part of the game.
There’s more at the link, including how Joe Biden fits into the current rules (or doesn’t – he’s like the wheelbarrow Monopoly piece: sturdy, relatable to workers, has a chance of winning, but nobody’s really excited about getting stuck with it.)

Is there no evil on Earth that President Trump is not personally responsible for? Certainly not if you ask the New York Times editorial board, which just blamed Trump for the rise in anti-Semitism that led the New York Times to publish anti-Semitic cartoons.
They couldn’t help themselves! The evil wizard in the White House turned them into anti-Semites without them even realizing it!
I’d call that “magical thinking,” but I can’t dignify it with the term “thinking.”

North Carolina’s Senate has voted to override Democratic Gov. Roy Cooper’s veto of a bill requiring doctors to give medical aid to babies born alive during abortions. Now, it’s up to the House to stand up for human decency and a right that shouldn’t even have to be under discussion.
In vetoing the bill, Cooper issued a statement reading, “Laws already protect newborn babies and this bill is an unnecessary interference between doctors and their patients…This needless legislation would criminalize doctors and other healthcare providers for a practice that simply does not exist.”
But with abortion advocates astoundingly arguing that giving medical care to a baby that’s already been born somehow violates the mother’s reproductive rights, it appears that it is actually necessary to codify what should be obvious to anyone with a brain and a heart. As for the claim that the practice “simply does not exist,” North Carolina bill supporter Rep. Sarah Stevens points out that we don’t know what’s going on, and that a big part of the bill is that if it happens, doctors and nurses would be required to report it.
If it never happens, then why are Democrats like Cooper so opposed to requiring it to be reported only if it does happen? Maybe because, as with virtually every other aspect of abortion, their biggest fear is that the public will find out what really happens behind the closed doors of abortion clinics.

Schadenfreude Corner: According to the latest Nielsen numbers, MSNBC’s prime time ratings are down by 14% since this time last year, but that’s nothing compared to CNN, whose ratings have collapsed by 26%. Worse, in the most-coveted 25-54-year-old viewer demographic, CNN’s April ratings were down by 41% from April, 2018. It was CNN’s lowest-rated April since 2015.
https://www.westernjournal.com/cnn-ratings-tank-26-time-last-year/
Fox News was #1 in April with 2.4 million viewers, compared to CNN’s 767,000 (and I’d be willing to bet they were mostly people stuck in airports.)
Meanwhile, a new poll shows that Trump’s approval rating is at 43%, lower than it should be considering that we’re not at war and the economy is booming. But it’s still the highest since this time in 2017, and not bad considering the unhinged, 24/7/365 negative media coverage he receives. His approval is being dragged down by a 5% approval rating among Democrats, 95% of whom would never vote for him, anyway. Plus Rasmussen polling shows his approval at around 50%.
And more good news for Trump: that poll that has him at 43% is from CNN, so hardly anyone will see it.

Wednesday, ADP and Moody’s Analytics released the April jobs report, showing that private payrolls grew by 275,000 jobs last month. That far outstripped economists' predictions of 177,000 new jobs.
President Trump said we would win so much, we’d get tired of winning. I’m not tired of winning yet, but I am tired of all the whining.
And I bet the economists are tired of being wrong. Maybe they should stop watching CNN and MSNBC, too, and then they wouldn’t be so surprised every month that the economy isn’t sucking wind anymore.
