We’re on the verge of some huge revelations about what was really going on within the intelligence community concerning the Steele dossier and the investigation of Trump. For now, have confidence that we’ll be on the facts as they roll out.
For now, recall that one “clue” from just the other day was that U.S. Attorney John Durham, appointed by Attorney General Bill Barr to investigate the beginnings of the FBI “Trump/Russia” probe, needs to look at the emails exchanged between then-FBI Director James Comey and CIA Director John Brennan in December of 2016. These reportedly discussed how the (unverified) information in the dossier might be used during the presidential transition.
Something tells me Durham was already well aware of these emails.
According to FOX News’ Catherine Herridge, the emails haven’t been made public, but her sources tell her that they reflect a scenario in which Brennan pushed Comey to use the dossier in the formal intelligence assessment on Russia election interference.
It was soon after, in January, that Comey told President Trump that the “Russia” material was salacious and unverified. So, Comey knowingly allowed himself to be pressured into using unverified material to apply for a FISA warrant that required the information to be VERIFIED? We know that inside the application, Comey called the information “reliable.” So, as Rudy Giuliani points out, Comey either lied to the President or he lied to the court. Given the bigger picture, I’d venture to say we’re all thinking it was the court he lied to.
Some insiders are saying that the President will be declassifying all documents relevant to the start of the Russia probe, possibly as early as next week. This cannot come too soon. At the same time, I'll bet his attorneys had a good reason for timing it as they did.
In the meantime, we’re getting more pieces of the puzzle that help everything make sense. Thanks to documents finally obtained by Judicial Watch after a year of waiting, we see that Robert Mueller gave his rabidly anti-Trump “pit bull” Andrew Weissmann the responsibility for putting together the special counsel team. Wow, that explains a lot. So Weissmann is the one who chose all those Hillary supporters, of which he himself was one, to go after Trump after he beat her. (We’ve known for a long tme that Weissmann had been at Hillary’s “victory” party on election night.)
This press release from Judicial Watch gives the whole rundown of Weissmann's meetings and hirings. There wasn’t a single Republican in the whole bunch. I’d like to think of their meetings running like the movie “12 Angry Men,” except my version would have one lone Republican slowly, one by one, convincing all the Democrats in the room to vote “not guilty.” But that certainly wasn’t going to happen here, because THERE WAS NOT ONE REPUBLICAN THERE to change anybody’s mind on anything.
More is going on with Hillary, too. Here’s something else from Judicial Watch, released on May 10, that seems to have been lost in the shuffle of all the breaking news. I haven’t seen a report on this. But Judicial Watch finally obtained 44 pages of State Department records that show the Obama White House was tracking a December 2012 Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA) request for records pertaining to Hillary’s use of a personal, non-secure, non-government email system. In response to an earlier request for these documents, The State Department had previously said that no such documents existed, when clearly, they did and do.
It’s quite a detailed story but makes for fascinating reading, with kind of a "you are there" quality. As Judicial Watch president Tom Fitton said, “These documents suggest the Obama White House knew about the Clinton email lies being told to the public at least as early as December 2012. A federal court granted Judicial Watch discovery into the Clinton emails because the court wanted answers about a government cover-up involving them. And now we have answers because it looks like the Obama White House orchestrated the Clinton email cover-up.”
