Among the many nasty surprises buried in the 2700-page “barebones” compromise “infrastructure” bill is a provision to establish a pilot program to examine the feasibility of a national, per-mile “user fee” on all motorists – i.e., a tax on every mile you drive (since Biden hasn’t made driving expensive enough already.)

https://redstate.com/nick-arama/2021/08/05/infrastructure-bill-has-provision-that-could-lead-to-big-fees-on-americans-and-blow-up-bidens-promise-on-taxes-n421952

Democrats are trying to brush off questions about this by claiming it’s not a tax hike, it’s just to study the possibility of a mileage tax in the future that might not ever be imposed. If you think that Democrats will go to that much trouble to workshop a big new tax and then not impose it, I have some oceanfront property in Kansas I’d like to sell you.

Here’s more waste stuffed into that bill…

https://redstate.com/heartlandinstitute/2021/08/06/bidens-infrastructure-bill-includes-massive-slush-funds-for-green-energy-boondoggles-n421817

It also includes a piddling $1 billion for a commission headed by Sen. Joe Manchin’s wife…

https://redstate.com/bonchie/2021/08/03/one-payoff-in-the-infrastructure-deal-is-so-blatantly-corrupt-that-you-almost-have-to-respect-the-hustle-n420584

And blogger Lawrence Person also lists some not-very-infrastructurey items hidden in that bill, from state-mandated carbon reduction programs to racial quotas on broadband.

https://www.battleswarmblog.com/?p=48841

Person also includes this quote, which every Republican who supports this bill should be required to respond to, from two researchers at the Texas Public Policy Foundation: “It has just $110 billion, or less than 10% (of its spending), for what’s historically been considered infrastructure – roads and bridges. The other 90% is to fund mass transit waste, green energy nonsense and more items that the states or the private sector could do.”

I often wonder, if leftists are really that concerned about carbon emissions, why don’t they stop burning massive piles of our tax money?

I have heard they are talking about how it would be great for the government to take over the job of providing credit ratings...................... you know they wouldn't really be thinking about using a social credit grade to help figure out that score now would they? Like China does? Is that by any chance hidden back in page 2,345 or so of the "infrastructure" bill, or the next one they want to call a social infrastructure or something bill, the 3 trillion dollar one that Biden wants to pair with this current one???

Tax per mile is already happening I live in Illinois and the only roads fit to drive on are toll roads that cost 20 cents per mile add that to gas tax of 18.4 federal, 18.4 state, 18.4 local and 9% sales tax really we need more taxes!

You know when your question is responded to with another question that they don't have a legitimate answer. To the question of just how it the infrastructure bill paid for is just one such example. The hypocrisy and outright lying is disgraceful. History shows that every time the democrats destroy our country in a matter of minutes, it takes the Republicans years to undue just some of the harm and damage. History keeps repeating itself and half of the country doesn't care.

Good information. What do the American citizens do to make a difference. The people we elect aren't listening. Why isn't there a peaceful demonstration being held to help with the fact of hidden agenda's in all bills.

We need the infrastructure bill passed. There is more to infrastructure than roads and bridges. Grid and EV charging grid. We need off of fossil fuels yesterday! In order for EVs to become feasible charging structure needs to be in place. You can not drive from Springhill, LA through Little Rock to Chicago in an EV! Several areas not enough range. Need incentives to put in chargers! Let’s quit playing politics. Zero carbon emission is on the way like it or not! Sooner is better than later. If this doesn’t pass I’ve voted for my last Republican. This will show me their interest is not in the people but money from big oil.
