The DNC "hack": getting to the heart of the first Russia hoax

By Mike Huckabee

We recently observed that virtually all the “Russia Russia Russia!!!” hoaxes had been disproven except for the one about Russia hacking the DNC emails in 2016 and leaking them to Julian Assange, who published them in WikiLeaks. We said not to be surprised when that “Russia” story turned out to be a hoax as well.

That one was the wellspring, the Mother Lode, for all the Russia Hoaxes. But a company called CrowdStrike did the forensic investigation on the so-called “hack,” and CEO Shawn Henry has testified that his company found no “concrete” evidence that the DNC had been hacked at all, by anyone. They were being “intuitive” in concluding they'd been hacked, and by Russia. But they did find evidence that data had been prepared for “exfiltration.”

Recall that attorney Ty Clevenger has spent six years using Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA) requests to find out what he can about the actual source of those emails. Assange himself said it was NOT Russia or anyone acting on behalf of a state, though he refuses to this day to reveal this or any source.

But in the context of the discussion of this case, he did offer a $20,000 reward to anyone providing useful information in the investigation of the murder of DNC staffer Seth Rich, who is still dead.

On December 9, the FBI responded with an 8-page memo that admits they have the compact discs of images from both the work laptop and personal laptop of the murdered DNC staffer Seth Rich. But they argued that the work laptop should not be subject to any FOIA request because the FBI collected it from “a non-government third party,” presumably the DNC.

Thus, they assume in this memo that Clevenger is, by default, asking only for the contents of the personal laptop. But they’re not about to release that, either. We’ll link to the whole memo, but here’s the core:

“The FBI carefully examined the documents and determined the information withheld from Plaintiff in this case, if disclosed, could reasonably be expected to interfere with pending or prospective enforcement proceedings, would reveal statutorily protected information, would cause a clearly unwarranted invasion of personal privacy, and/or would disclose techniques and procedures for law enforcement investigations. Further, the FBI determined the work laptop, DVD and tape drive are not records subject to the FOIA. After extensive review of the documents at issue, the FBI determined that there is no further non-exempt information that can be reasonably segregated and released without revealing exempt information.”

In other words, they’re telling the Plaintiff to pound sand.

But why does the FBI even have this material? If what they say in this memo is true, it seems that the FBI either has been actively involved in an investigation of this now-cold case or anticipates being involved. Rich’s cold-blooded murder on a Washington DC street as he walked home early on a Sunday was supposedly the result of a robbery-gone-wrong. Nothing of value was taken, however. As far as we know, there were no witnesses. Rich, as we understand it, was shot twice in the back.

Be advised, I’m making no accusations --- unless we’re talking about the conniving snakes at the FBI once again spectacularly failing to show any transparency. Sad to say, they just can’t be trusted any longer, and when they ring the curtain down, we feel compelled to find out what’s behind it.

Last month, Clevenger reacted on Twitter; his statement is also at this link. Read this and see how long and hard he’s had to work to pry anything relating to this so-called "botched robbery" out of the FBI. As he puts it, they’re “hiding public information from the public.”

John Kerry outdoes himself

By Mike Huckabee

We’ve poked fun over the years at John Kerry’s pompous sense of self-importance, but his latest appearance at the World Economic Forum in Davos may require serious psychiatric intervention. His self-regard has reached such elephantine levels, it’s as if he’s become a talking ego in a $1000 suit. I’ve seen Macy’s Parade balloons that were less full of hot gas.

If you think I’m exaggerating, brace yourself for this speech he gave to his fellow would-be Masters of the Universe. Kerry claimed to be part of “a select group of human beings” with an “almost extraterrestrial” ability to sit in a room and make plans for saving the planet. He admitted, "If you say that to most people, most people think you're just a crazy tree-hugging, lefty, liberal, you know, do-gooder or whatever and there's no relationship. But really, that's where we are."

https://www.foxnews.com/media/john-kerry-mocked-speech-wefs-almost-extraterrestrial-plan-save-planet-liberal-delusions

No, John, I think you were more on base with the crazy, delusional tree-hugger theory.

As you might imagine, the response to that speech was swift and brutal, as you can see at the link. Still, while it might be time for someone to call the Pomposity Police to rush in and do an emergency head deflation on Kerry, we really should offer our thanks that so many selfless, do-gooder politicians and billionaires are willing to demonstrate their moral superiority by flying in to a five-star resort on over 1,000 private jets to help us save the planet by slashing our carbon emissions. Anw who can blame these icons of superior morality for needing some recreation after such a sacrifice?

More on Biden’s MLK speech

By Mike Huckabee

I wrote yesterday about President Biden’s wildly inappropriate and rambling speech at an MLK Day breakfast, where he attacked Republicans and pushed gun control. This seems like a good chaser story for that:

John R. Lott’s Crime Prevention Research Center released a new study on killings in the US. It found that “murder is not a nationwide problem.” While murders are up, they are overwhelmingly concentrated in tiny, densely-populated urban areas. And they’re becoming even more concentrated in these areas over time.

https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/washington-secrets/murders-up-in-urban-areas-not-gun-friendly-counties

For instance, the worst 1% of counties contain 21% of the US population and now account for 42% of all murders. These dangerous urban areas are overwhelmingly Democrat-run cities with strict gun control laws, such as Chicago, L.A., New York and Washington, DC. Meanwhile, rural and suburban areas have much higher rates of household gun ownership and almost no murders.

So obviously, the solution is more gun laws like the ones in the places that have the most murders.

Somewhat related: The Denver suburb of Englewood has become the second Colorado city to shut down a public library because there are so many homeless drug addicts hanging out in it that the bathrooms exceed the safe limits for meth contamination. A similar thing happened in Long Beach, California, last October.

https://redstate.com/kiradavis/2023/01/17/meth-contamination-closes-a-colorado-library-and-this-isnt-the-first-time-its-happened-n689959

So if you’re trying to spot a pattern, try this: (1.) Elect far-left Democrats to run your state/city. (2.) They legalize pot and other drugs, stop enforcing laws, and make it as easy as possible to remain a homeless drug addict and go anywhere you want. (3.) Libraries start shutting down because they’re contaminated with drugs from all the homeless drug addicts.

Conclusion: If you want to stop #3, quit doing #1.

Washington, DC: Crime capital

Speaking of high crime in blue cities, Washington, DC, is suffering a major crime wave and has been called one of America’s murder capitals. But the City Council just voted 12-1 to override Mayor Muriel Bowser’s veto of a revised criminal code that will reduce penalties for a range of crimes. And Murial Bowser is hardly a law-and-order conservative.

https://www.dcnewsnow.com/news/local-news/washington-dc/dc-council-votes-to-override-mayors-veto-of-revised-criminal-code/

The council had previously unanimously passed the bill, which reduces penalties for crimes like carjacking, burglaries and homicide, and could result in the early release of inmates convicted of crimes like murder and sexual assault. The chairman of the DC police union called the council’s vote “reprehensible” and said the law “will lead to violent crime rates exploding even more than they already have.” But council members claimed it will make the criminal code “more just, equitable and clear, making us all safer.” One council member insisted that it doesn’t help poor people to put them in jail.

Of course, if those poor people have been robbing, raping and murdering other poor people, putting them in jail might help the latter group of poor people quite a bit.

This bill still has to be approved by Congress, so they might be able to stop the insanity. It’s a longshot, since it requires a joint resolution signed by President Biden. But considering the Democrats have to work in Washington, maybe they’ll face reality for a change and vote not to make their own workplace even more dangerous.

Déjà vu All Over Again

By Mike Huckabee

The Biden DOJ is in court, arguing to maintain the CDC’s authority to impose mask mandates on travelers. Even though most people are no longer wearing masks, most of which have been shown to be useless in stopping the spread of COVID, they argue that it’s necessary to retain that power so they can swiftly impose it again in case of future pandemics. Because even though it was useless and unconstitutional before, that’s no reason not to do it again (that last part was me paraphrasing their argument.)

https://www.westernjournal.com/mask-mandates-coming-back-biden-doj-argues-bring-back-policy-court/

You can read more about the case at that link. Personally, while I don’t want to see mask mandates come back, I can see how forcing President Biden to wear three masks at once might save his staffers a lot of grief, particularly if he had to wear them while making speeches. Or singing “Happy Birthday to You.”

https://www.westernjournal.com/watch-biden-sings-happy-birthday-mlk-iiis-wife-completely-forgets-name/

Related: With so many of our moral and intellectual betters meeting in Davos to plan our lives for us, this might be a good time to look back at recent history and see how all these self-proclaimed “experts” handled the last worldwide crisis. John Stossel has a new must-see video on that subject that asks, “Who was right about COVID?” The people pushing mask mandates, hand washing, lockdowns, school closures, etc., or the ones who defied them?

https://youtube.com/watch?v=BPbCA5hiEfM&si=EnSIkaIECMiOmarE

Spoiler alert: it wasn’t the self-proclaimed “experts” of government, the media or the meddling billionaire class, who were tragically wrong about virtually everything. But that hasn’t deterred them from continuing to exercise their almost extraterrestrial hubris in telling the rest of us how to run our lives.

Biden negates the Democrats’ January 6 rhetoric

By Mike Huckabee

I mentioned in passing that President Biden’s rant about how citizens with rifles couldn’t possibly overthrow the federal government completely negated the Democrat narrative that a few hundred unarmed protesters on January 6th were a serious insurrection threat. Robert Spencer at PJ Media expands on that topic.

News You Should Know

Nashville Tragedy

Monday was a tragic day in many regards. I hope you will join me in praying for the victims of the horrific shooting at the Covenant School in Nashville and their families, and for the unnamed staffer of Sen. Rand Paul who was brutally stabbed Saturday in Washington, DC. (More about that story below.)  The horror at the Christian school in Nashville began when a 28-year-old woman who was a former student there shot her way into the school, carrying two rifles and a pistol, and killed three children and three adults before police confronted and killed her. We’re still waiting for police to release more details, but early reports are that the shooter was a “trans” person, which made the police press conference incredibly confusing. With the police spokesman’s attempts to avoid being un-PC, getting actual details about the shooter was like pulling teeth, but it appears that it was a woman who “identifies” as a man. She (sorry if that’s “misgendering” a mass murderer, but I don’t care) reportedly left behind a “manifesto” and social media posts calling for rage and violence against opponents of “gender transitioning” of children.

DC Crime: Rand Paul Senate Staffer Stabbed

Sen. Rand Paul announced that an unnamed staffer of his had been brutally stabbed multiple times in broad daylight in Washington, DC, while leaving a restaurant. The injuries were reportedly life-threatening, but the staffer is currently hospitalized and Paul thanked the first responders and hospital staff. He asked everyone to join him and his wife in praying for a “speedy and complete recovery. Police have a suspect in custody who told them that “voices in his head” told him to do this. He was also reportedly released from prison just one day before, after serving 12 years for violent crimes. A reminder: The DC City Council recently tried to make it even easier for criminals to be let out and returned to the streets, but Congress blocked that move. President Biden planned to veto it, but he ultimately angered so-called “progressives” (actually, “pro-criminals” would be a more accurate term) by signing it. I don’t know if the assault on a female Democrat Congress member in a DC elevator changed his mind; but that and this latest attack show how dangerous our nation’s Capital has become under far-left rule, and that Democrat politicians can actually start thinking rationally when they have to face the daily dangers they impose on others.

The Left Is Winning

A new Wall Street Journal/NORC poll sadly confirms what many of us deduced just from reading the news lately: the left has been shockingly successful in destroying faith in long-standing American values among young people. Compared to a poll that asked the same questions 25 years ago, only 38% of Americans say that patriotism is “very important” to them, compared to 70% in 1998. Those who say religion is very important to them dropped from 62% to 39%. The percentage who said raising children is very important fell from 59% to 30%. And the number who place high importance on community involvement plummeted from 62% to 27%. Disturbingly, the only value that rose in high importance was “money,” up from 31% to 43%. When broken down demographically, it’s clear that the steepest erosion in the belief in traditional American values is among Democrats and young people. It’s yet more proof that the biggest mistake made by Republicans in the past half century was allowing the left to infiltrate and take over our schools.

John Kerry outdoes himself

We’ve poked fun over the years at John Kerry’s pompous sense of self-importance, but his latest appearance at the World Economic Forum in Davos may require serious psychiatric intervention.

The spiritual side of our lives really does matter

When I was growing up, my bedtime ritual always included a fairy tale that started with “Once upon a time...” and ended with the comforting words we all remember: “And they lived happily ever after.” As a child of the optimistic 1950s, I dreamed that life might be like that: whatever obstacles, dangers or perils might come my way, in the end, I would live happily ever after.

Why Art and Music Are Essential in Schools

Aside from letting leftist indoctrination take over our public school system, the biggest mistake we conservatives made in education over the years was in thinking that art and music classes were expendable luxuries and should be slashed to concentrate on “the three ‘R’s.” Not only are art and music classes important in themselves, but they are also beneficial to helping students excel in other subjects, including math and reading.

A blank book of pages

The first school in which we enroll, and the most important in shaping our future, is our home. A casual view of modern TV shows might lead us to believe that parents don’t matter. I contend that nothing matters more. When Benjamin West was a boy, his mother left him in charge of his younger sister, Sally. Benjamin found bottles of colored ink and painted Sally’s portrait.

How to prevent young people from falling prey to socialism

I got a comment from a reader arguing that one reason young people fall prey to socialism (aside from being brainwashed by their teachers) is that they feel the capitalist system is failing them. They were told they had to get college degrees if they wanted good jobs, and encouraged to take out huge student loans. Now, they’re saddled with crippling debt, and those degrees aren’t opening the doors to jobs that pay enough to ever get out of the hole.
