President Trump says he misspoke when he said in Helsinki that he didn’t see any reason why Russia would be behind US election meddling, and that he meant to say “wouldn’t” instead of “would.”  This is historic, since I don’t know if Trump has ever publicly admitted to getting something wrong before.  But I’m glad he is doing something to clean up the mess from that press conference rather than doubling-down to defend it.

I’m sure his opponents will continue ranting and railing that it’s not good enough, but Trump has always been extremely fortunate in having the enemies that he does.  There is nothing he says or does that is too trifling or normal for the anti-Trump “Resistance” crowd not to react as if someone set off a string of firecrackers in their shorts.

During a time when he admittedly invited criticism with his comments, the news was almost immediately taken over by his hysterical critics screeching “TREASON! IMPEACHMENT!,” suggesting he’s a Russian spy (or that there was one in the Oval Office:  https://www.mediaite.com/online/wrong-reporter-deletes-tweet-claiming-russian-spy-was-in-oval-office-with-trump/ ), deliberately conflating the hacking of the DNC with unproved allegations of the Trump campaign colluding with Russia, wailing that the hacking of the DNC’s server was comparable to 9/11 or Pearl Harbor (note: we didn’t keep using the Pearl Harbor base or the World Trade Center for another month as if nothing had happened), or even calling on the US military to stage a coup (there’s a first, liberals pining for a military dictatorship).  Some conservative pundits are saying that they couldn't just let Trump stumble, they had to deflect attention from his own misstep by "burying it in crazy."

If the left wonders why this latest outrage barrage is likely to fizzle with Trump voters (even those who weren’t pleased with the press conference), then they need to turn off MSNBC for a few minutes and go read, “The Boy Who Cried Wolf.”  We’re closing in on nearly two years of daily hair-pulling hysteria over everything Trump says and does, and yet, somehow, to most people, the world seems better than it was on Election Day.  The economy is booming, ISIS has been crushed, international threats such as North Korea are abating, unemployment is at historically low levels...and yet to listen to them, every day is “THE END OF THE WORLD!!!”  It’s like having a neighbor who likes death metal and refuses to turn down his stereo.  After a while, no matter how annoying it is, you learn how to tune it out.

Incidentally, for all the blasts at Trump for having a big ego and thinking he knows it all, can anyone cite even one incident of Obama admitting he got something wrong?  I considered his Administration to be eight years of consecutive wrong decisions, from hamstringing the economy with onerous regulations that kept what should’ve been a two-year recession dragging on for eight; to weaponizing federal agencies and unconstitutionally legislating via executive orders; to underestimating ISIS, capitulating to Putin, dissing Israel, funding Iran’s mullahs while ignoring its reformers, backing the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt and other tragically wrongheaded foreign policy moves that resulted in the deaths, torture and enslavement of countless people.  Even the Russian attempts to interfere in the election happened on his watch.  But has anyone heard a “Sorry, my bad” from him?  If the left wants us all to believe that Trump is the only unapologetic egotist ever to occupy the Oval Office, then they’re going to have to make sure that Obamacare covers lobotomies for everyone.

When he said Putin's denial was strong and powerful, it didn't necessarily mean he believed it...he could have rolled his eyes or said, "And we all believe him, right?" That's who Putin is...of course he'll deny...I think Trump was just telling on him not endorsing him.

I really like your daughter and your talent to get it right! I voted for Trump with a little wonder but I really liked his honesty and the way he tackles a problem! Thanks for sharing your news opinion! God Bless You! I think President Trump choose correctly in meeting with Putin! I believe and hope only God would scare him!
