DRIVE-IN CHURCHGOERS TICKETED

There’s a meme going around that reads, “How are you enjoying your 30-day free trial of socialism?” But I never thought that would be true in a place like Greenville, Mississippi.

Mississippi’s Governor encouraged churches not to hold services in person to combat the coronavirus, but he refused to ban them from doing so, saying, “Mississippi is not China, and never will be.” But someone needs to get that message to Greenville’s Democrat Mayor Errick Simmons, who not only ordered churches closed, he even banned drive-in services.

Last Sunday, members of Temple Baptist Church gathered in about 25 cars in the church parking lot to listen to pastor Arthur Scott preaching over the radio. Police came and handed $500 tickets to each driver, even though they were all inside separate closed cars. The only time they violated “social distancing” was when they had to roll down their windows to take the tickets from the cops.

Scott said police told him he might go to jail, and he said if that’s what it takes to keep preaching, he’ll gladly go to jail, and he will see them at the church next Sunday.

The religious freedom law firm First Liberty sent a letter to Simmons demanding that the ban be lifted, and stating that “religious liberty is not suspended during a pandemic” and Americans should not “tolerate churchgoers being ticketed by the police for following CDC guidelines at church.”

Once again, it’s very instructive to see how quickly tolerant, compassionate liberals turn into ironfisted authoritarians when given just a little power. It’s yet another reason why you should never believe the claim that socialism would work great, it’s just that the “right people” have never been in charge of it. If you even want to be in charge of a socialist government, then you’re the wrong people to be in charge of the government.

GOOD FRIDAY

Happy Good Friday to you and your family! I know it may be an unusual Easter weekend, one where you can’t go to church or gather in the park or at other events. But celebrating at home with family will give us all a chance to reflect on and count our greatest blessings. And it’s important to remember that Easter weekend is a celebration of God’s assurance that the current trials and suffering will pass and that the day of Resurrection is at hand.

CORONAVIRUS UPDATE

Here’s full video of Thursday’s daily White House briefing on the coronavirus with no cutaways to victims of other diseases, such as Trump Derangement Syndrome…

The number of confirmed cases in the US has topped 466,000, with 16,686 deaths at this writing. That’s a terrible tragedy, but there are reasons to be hopeful. Social distancing (i.e., simply asking Americans to be responsible) is working to flatten the curve of new cases. The initial predictions of mass deaths have been revised sharply downward, and so far, the field hospital and Navy hospital ship in New York City are using only a fraction of their beds. Meanwhile, a 250-bed field hospital in Seattle that was built to handle an expected crush of cases has been dismantled without treating a single patient.

At the briefing, Trump congratulated the Army Corps of Engineers for building field hospitals that include 17,000 beds in a remarkably short time. He talked about the airlift program that’s delivering medical supplies to where they’re most needed, and about discussions on aid to support the airline industry. He said the US has now surpassed 2 million coronavirus tests, and he sees encouraging signs in the swift development of treatments, with 19 therapies already being tested and 26 more in the planning stages. He also said student loan payments have been waived for six months, and that might be extended, and he talked about the need for Democrats and Republicans to come together to provide more help to workers and businesses.

On that subject, Senate Democrats last night showed where their priorities lay by blocking a bill to provide $250 billion in more funding for emergency small business loans. Party leaders claim they wouldn’t support that unless more funding was also given for the unemployed. But as Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell pointed out, the money for the unemployed in the first bill hasn’t even been distributed yet (the IRS says it should start appearing as early as this week in the accounts of 50 million taxpayers who have shared their banking information with the IRS.) But the money allocated to small businesses is already nearly depleted because of the crush of applications.

A number of Senate Republicans also blasted the Democrats for blocking the bill, pointing out that the small business loan funding was for part of a bipartisan bill that needs more than originally anticipated right now, and that voting for it would not prevent further funding of aid to the unemployed, if it’s needed. This marks the second time in a month that Democratic Congressional leaders have held up emergency aid to try to force something else that they wanted into the bill. I hope that when you vote in November, you remember this demonstration of their priorities.

Personally, I’m not surprised that many current Congressional “progressive” Democrats are so cavalier about the problems of small business owners, since so few of them have ever owned or run a business.

I understand those problems only too well. While I’m enjoying “sheltering at home” with all my grandkids, it’s no picnic financially. All my personal appearances, which provide much of my income, have been canceled for three months, and I’m digging into my savings and retirement funds to cover the expenses, payrolls and benefits for the small businesses that I own. I don’t expect Democrats to feel sorry for me, but it would be nice if they at least comprehended what it’s like to own a small business that suddenly had its cash flow shut off.

Unfortunately, most of them come out of politics, law or academia and have never had to make a living in the real world. Some of their deep thinkers such as Rep. Ilhan Omar are suggesting that the President just declare that nobody has to pay rent. Leftwing activist Sally Kohn attacked business owners by claiming that nobody is “forcing” them to lay off workers, that it’s a “choice” they make, and they shouldn’t be cast as victims.

Kurt Schichter responded to this in his own special way in his latest article, “Economic Illiterates Are Running Amok”…

“When there is no income, what do you expect a business owner to pay his employees with? IOUs? Monopoly money? Feelings?...Oh, maybe the boss of that local pizza restaurant that the cough police closed down should just go downstairs to the basement vault in his mansion, pop open the door and take out one of those dozens of big sacks with dollar signs on them that are stuffed with $100 bills and use them to meet payroll. And rent. And insurance. And supplies. And maintenance. And so on. And so on. And so on.

Because that whole thing about cash flow? No, it’s not a thing. It’s a myth! It’s just an illusion those tuxedo n’ top hat-sporting fatcats who run the local pet stores and such use to fool the proles into believing that there’s not some bottomless well o’ cash these tycoons can draw upon forever.”

When they block urgently-needed funding to help small businesses stay afloat, claiming they want to help workers instead, they are betraying their utter ignorance of how our economic system works. If you want to help the workers, then make sure they still have a place to work when this is over!

On a side note, I’ve noticed that so-called “progressives” love calling anyone who disagrees with them a racist. Yet they badmouth capitalism while obviously having no clue what capitalism is or how a capitalist economic system works. Isn’t having an irrational fear of something you know nothing about the very definition of “prejudice”?

And speaking of those “cold-hearted” small business owners

BIDEN IS NOT CAPABLE

Apparently, there is one subject that is so glaringly true that even Tucker Carlson and the former national press secretary for Bernie Sanders’ presidential campaign agree on it: Joe Biden is not capable of being President of the United States.

Briahna Joy Gray tweeted that Bernie was “too kind” to go after Biden, “but it’s coming,” and either the Democratic establishment would rather see Trump reelected than back a candidate like Bernie or else they’re planning to throw representative Democracy out the window and replace him at the Convention.

I’m not sure which of those scenarios will play out, but it’s telling that, as some wags noted online, Biden is now the only Democrat remaining in the race and Barack Obama still hasn’t endorsed him. In this spirit of bipartisanship, I’ll actually agree with Ms Gray that the brass knuckle political assaults on Biden are coming. In fact, they’re already here.

(Incidentally, it wasn’t easy to find that ad. A Google search for “Trump commercial against Biden” returned nothing but Biden ads against Trump. How odd!)

But the media can’t bury this story for long. Even if they don’t talk about Biden’s personal issues or his history of questionable dealings, there are now new questionable dealings that would destroy the campaign of any Republican. Like pretending to be President and using political cronies to interfere in the distribution of much-needed medical supplies.

There’s way too much to bury here. Besides, it’s already so obvious that even Sean Lennon is pointing it out.

AGAINST CHINA

While some people here in America are trying to politicize the coronavirus by pointing fingers of blame at their opponents, it’s nice to see that most Americans are smart enough to realize where the blame really lies.

You wrote " Leftwing activist Sally Kohn attacked business owners by claiming that nobody is “forcing” them to lay off workers, that it’s a “choice” they make, and they shouldn’t be cast as victims." and then write about cash flow from various none existent sources. But considering the government is 'funding' this entire rescue plethora with printed money, is not that what is being done by the government and Federal Reserve? For someone who has been in government for their entire life, money is of no concern, just print what you need. If you have never been in business or had trouble balancing a personal budget with money that had to be earned, the extrapolation to business doing much the same is not a large step.
I am not making excuses for the folks with this hair brained attitude, but we must remember it is exactly what government officials and the fed are doing now, making the choice to fund all the rescue plans with no resources, just printed money and borrowing with the only lender being the Federal Reserve lending printed money. Also, it a very contagious case of 'group think' as anyone with a counter thought or has questions what is the exit strategy or how this might affect our kids and grandkids is viciously attacked, much like the congressman from Kentucky a week or so back.

My heart breaks and goes out to those trying to be compliant with the law with social distancing even to the point of forsaking the assembling together especially as the time grows near....
on another topic, if I remember correctly, when this whole social distancing / economy shut down was initiated, we were told “just for a few weeks so as not to allow the hospitals to get overwhelmed”. Well, we did that, the hospitals did not become overwhelmed, in fact they have many beds open. But then we were told, “we must maintain mitigation until we get over the apex and begin to see numbers come down”. Okay, now we have accomplished both goals. Now, we are still on social distancing / economic shut down, why??? I couldn’t even watch the briefing today as it is beginning to sicken me. These 2 doctors that President Trump has handed our economy over to seem to be getting a little taste of power and get hungry for more, and more and more....
I read last night that Dr Fauci is close knit with, wait for it... George Sonos. And NOW it all makes sense. I can only pray that President Trump is not ignorant to what they are trying to do. He speaks highly of them, but then, he speaks highly of Kim Jung Un and President Chi too while he is in the middle of a negotiation.

Just a little while ago in my inbox from Western Journal that today (Good Friday) President Trump gave a really good prayer from the Oval Office. Not at all surprising none of the MSM showed this. It was a good heartfelt prayer. Governor Huckabee, I hope you will provide the link so more people see this heartfelt prayer and the President's comments on the importance of Christianity and prayer for our Nation. We are no longer walking the fine line between individual liberty and the needs of society. It seems as if in the last few days, and with alarming rapidity, local and state officials throughout the country (and political advisers in DC) are making a full court press to deprive citizens of their civil liberties. I pray that we can make rapid progress against the coronavirus lest the tyrants use the prolonged time period to consolidate their gains against us.

Why didn't the governor of Mississippi arrest the mayor of Greenville? A local mayor doesn't "trump" the state's governor. Remember states rights. On another note, the number of Covid 19 recoveries is absolutely flawed. Even people without a math degree like myself can figure out that either the deaths are too low, or the recoveries are too low. We all know it's not the deaths that are too low!!! In fact, they are obviously inflated because anyone who dies that had a heart attack but tested positive for Covid 19 is listed as a Covid 19 death. You put in statistics that show almost 1/2 million have contracted the virus, but only 26,000 have recovered. That would mean that at least 200,000 still have it after more than 2 weeks. They either got well or died - and we know they did not die.

    Dear Gov. Huckabee,

Thanks for another excellent Evening Edition. I look forward to reading them every day. Sometimes it's the next morning after it was published before I can read it. But I always do read it.

I really liked your story today about Biden's incompetence. It's very sad that the Dems all know this, but would not dare say anything about it outside their tight circle. Truthfully, I feel very sorry for Biden. He can't help it that he has fallen victim to some type of dementia. His family - even his close friends, should do something to get him away from the public spotlight and keep him from continuing to embarrass himself.

Even if the Dems let Biden stay in the race (which I doubt) and let him get the nomination and even win the presidency (which would only happen if the economy completely falters due to this virus) Biden would at most be a puppet with other people pulling the strings. I wonder if that might be Obama?

Governor, keep telling the truth even though you do step on a lot of toes and speak very bluntly.

    Your friend,

    Spencer Plumley

Couple of things I would like to point out: 1 If the liberals want to throw people in jail for going to church, than how is that social distancing? Amid corona paranoia!
The ones that need to go to jail are the ones that created the fake Russian/Ukrainian corona paranoia.
Point 2 If there is to be a brokered convention than what will happen to the right to vote. People chose who they want to run against the greatest President of the 21st century. The majority will be the liberal senators on who they want to run against Trump not the voters them selves.
The media needs to be held accountable for aiding and abetting with the enemy. NANCY PELOSI and ADAM SCHIFF!
Oh one more thing their is a cure for the corona virus it's called 3% food grade hydrogen peroxide and a nebulizer. To bad our Government is so in bed with the pharmaceutical companies that people will continue to die, until we hold the pharmaceutical companies accountable for their actions to make a profit on killing people and not the cause that is killing people.

We are no longer walking the fine line between individual liberty and the needs of society. It seems as if in the last few days, and with alarming rapidity, local and state officials throughout the country (and political advisers in DC) are making a full court press to deprive citizens of their civil liberties.

Evening Edition - April 10

Some leaders are restricting church services, banning audio services at drive in services, and in general trying to limit my ability to believe.
It will not work, I will seek him, pray to him, never to lose my faith.

Cops must have a large hoosegow to hold all church attendees at mandated 6 foot separation. Gospel sings for everyone.
