    The final primary elections

Today, the final primary elections of 2022 are being held in Delaware, New Hampshire and Rhode Island. If you are in those states, be sure to vote. I’ll have news on the votes tomorrow, if they manage to finish counting them by then.

Biden's steamroller DOJ: it's out of control

First, some breaking news late Monday night: The Justice Department has agreed to one of the choices for “special master” put forward by Trump’s legal team: Judge Raymond J. Dearie. Details here...

Independent journalist and civil libertarian Glenn Greenwald made an interesting observation on Monday regarding the shocking abuse of power currently being exhibited by Biden’s ‘Justice’ Department.

He said he became a journalist in 2005 because of the abuse of civil liberties that happened in the wake of 9/11, when the threat was exaggerated to justify it. “But at least there was a real attack,” he said to Tucker Carlson. “What is the most overlooked part of the Biden administration is that before January 6, there was an attempt to import...that first war on terror onto domestic soil. Adam Schiff, one of the most authoritarian members of Congress, in addition to being one of the most pathological liars, had legislation pending that would do nothing but take that first war on terror and make it domestic.”

That’s right --- BEFORE January 6. They’d been crafting this for who-knows-how-long and just needed an excuse to flip the switch. Greenwald cited a WALL STREET JOURNAL article from November 15, soon after Biden had been declared the winner but almost two months before the riot, that said one of Biden’s top priorities would be “to re-introduce the war on terror, but this time on domestic soil.”

“So they justify it now in the wake of 1/6,” Greenwald said, “even though before 1/6, this is what they were intending to do, as a way of criminalizing their opposition and solidifying authoritarian powers on American soil.”

It’s just as we’ve said from the first: If the riot on January 6 hadn’t happened, it suited the left’s long-term goals so well that they would’ve just had to create it. Wasn’t it conveeeeenient that it happened on its own –- if it did happen on its own? Who knows how central a role they played in bringing it about?

It feels bad to be this cynical, yet it seems that whenever we are this cynical, we turn out to be right.

More information is appearing about the subpoenas and warrants issued last week on dozens of Trump supporters. Nick Arama at REDSTATE examined a copy of one subpoena and found it to be breathtakingly broad. That sample, with name redacted, was included in his story. Read it and be chilled to the bone:

Attorney Harmeet Dhillon said they were seeking communications relating to certification, election fraud, alternate electors (which are a normal thing; Hawaii had even approved an alternate slate of electors once before, just in case they were needed), anything related to the rally before the January 6 riot, and anything concerning the Save America PAC.

Arama’s update included some of the names on these subpoenas. They include Special Assistant to President Trump –- and later an aide to former President Trump –- William Russell, and Trump’s former White House political director Brian Jack, who’s also an adviser to House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy. There’s also a name we know well, Stephen Miller, Trump’s top speechwriter and senior White House policy adviser, who is not known to have any connection to the electors plan or any fundraising efforts. Arama quotes the NEW YORK TIMES for more details on who was subpoenaed/raided and points out what should be obvious: how “troubling” –- um, how about flat-out wrong? –- it is for the Biden administration to go after the allies of Biden’s once-and-possibly-future political opponent.

Tucker Carlson also had more names of those raided. Here is a very partial list of all the people who will probably have to mortgage their homes to afford legal representation:

Carlson featured a guest on Monday who hadn’t been involved at all in January 6 but was the apparent victim of a fake “anonymous tip” saying she was there. Maybe someone just didn’t like that she’s a Trump supporter –- she has no clue. But, apparently, that tip was all it took for three armed FBI agents to come to her door, where she thought she was going to be handcuffed and carted off. Fortunately, she was able to show them her daily calendar and SATISFY THEM that she hadn’t been at the Capitol –- or even in DC –- on January 6 (as if that were a crime). “I’ve never been so frightened in my life,” Lisa Gallagher said. It was the day after Biden’s horrifying “red light” speech demonizing “MAGA Republicans.” and she was shaking and crying with fear.

In case you didn’t know what the far-left is saying about anyone who thinks it’s a good idea to “Make America Great Again,” this piece shows us what we’re dealing with. It’s crazy made-up stuff, designed to make the ill-informed think President Trump is a dangerous, blood-spitting, America-destroying TERRORIST.

As I said on Monday’s HANNITY, we’ve got to take on the issues –- knowing it’s the Democrats who are extremists on them (abortion a case in point) –- and also challenge those who condemn “MAGA Republicans.” “MAGA” means “Make American great again.” If that idea is a threat to the country, then write me up for it, because I’m all in! Apparently, Biden is NOT interested in making America great again, and I’d just say, he’s doing a heckuva job NOT making America great.

Another not-great development: lawyers are going after lawyers now. A group called The 65 Project has filed over 40 ethics complaints against attorneys who allegedly “tried to overturn” the 2020 election. What Michael Tater, head of the group, told the NYT is chilling: “Ultimately, we want to demonstrate to all the lawyers that the next time that Sidney Powell or Rudy Giuliani calls and says, ‘Hey, will you sign your name to this,’ they’ll say, ‘no,’ because they’ll realize there are professional consequences.” The legal profession is being pressured to march in lockstep politically, just as the medical profession is.

Also, we reported recently on Lee Smith’s conclusion that the Mar-A-Lago raid was to recover documents that implicated the FBI and DOJ in framing Trump in the Russia Hoax, starting in 2016. In case you missed his piece from September 1, it’s the clearest description of what the Mar-A-Lago raid was really all about.

Margot Cleveland offers a lawyerly discussion of prosecutors’ appeal to the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals (they haven’t yet filed the brief) to dispense with the “special master” and let them comb through the documents unimpeded. Cleveland anticipates they’ll also request a review of Judge Aileen Cannon’s decision temporarily halting them from using seized materials “for criminal investigative purposes.”

In their notice of appeal, DOJ attorneys presented their request as a matter of vital national security. And, yes (sigh), they invoked 9/11. “The FBI itself is part of the Intelligence Community,” they wrote, “and since the 9/11 attacks, the FBI has integrated its intelligence and law enforcement functions when it exercises its national security function.” They say any delay caused by Judge Cannon’s injunction risks “irreparable harm to our national security and intelligence interests.” Good grief.

But it’s this overblown wording that leads Cleveland to suspect they’re pursuing a criminal charge against Trump, likely before the 2022 midterms. Why so soon? Because that’s when people vote! What a great way to draw voters’ attention away from Biden’s disastrous first two years.

Finally, as reported by Matt Vespa at TOWNHALL, legal analyst Mike Davis, who clerked for Justice Neil Gorsuch, tweeted this yesterday: “President Trump’s legal team filed an excellent legal brief, calling out the Biden Justice Department’s political charade. Team Trump is filing on all cylinders. Trump clearly has the winning legal arguments. This is going to backfire –- badly –- on Biden.”

Davis then explains why, with Vespa describing this as “yet another wild goose chase.”

Here’s more detail on the Trump team’s motion, and why it’s so spectacular.

More on that disturbing San Francisco story

We now know more details about both the victim and the alleged perpetrator of the horrific beheading murder of a young woman in San Francisco. I warn you, this is a disturbing story:

The major points: the victim was the mother of the alleged killer’s one-year-old toddler. And the accused killer is a diagnosed schizophrenic who reportedly drank heavily while on meds, and also an illegal immigrant who came here from Venezuela ten years ago on a tourist visa that long since expired. He also reportedly had a prior conviction for raping a minor and was furious at the victim for threatening to tell people about that.

The expired visa and criminal record are the kind of things that, in a nation that enforced laws, would have normally resulted in local authorities reporting him to ICE for deportation. But this happened in the “sanctuary city” of San Francisco, where big-hearted liberal authorities refuse to cooperate with ICE to help them deport illegal alien criminals. That would be inhumane. Apparently, raping minors and beheading Americans isn’t.

    “They Elected Democrats”

It’s so sad to see that the beautiful town of Asheville, North Carolina, is plagued by a 31% spike in violent crime, loss of police, homelessness, drugs, drug gang activity and the genuine fascists of Antifa. And all of these plagues stem from the same three simple words that describe all the beautiful cities in America that have spiraled into anarchy in recent years:

    “They elected Democrats.”

I expect we’ll be seeing a lot of this because there’s so much of it to unearth

Washington Democratic Sen. Patty Murray has been attacking her Republican challenger Tiffany Smiley for questioning the integrity of the 2020 election. So Smiley’s campaign pulled up a 2005 statement from Murray, questioning “election irregularities” in George W. Bush’s defeat of John Kerry, and calling for “election reform” as a “top priority.”

It should be easy for just about any Republican who’s smeared as an “election denier” to do the same thing, since, as I recently quoted the late father of one of my writers, “According to them, no Democrat ever lost a ‘fair’ election.”

Excellent piece you referenced by Ed Morrissey about the Biden speech on… unity?? How conservatives are a danger to democracy?? Well whatever you call it it’s pretty obvious that he didn’t practice that speech in front of a mirror! Although as l have said before, sadly he only says and does what he is told.

"....all the people who will probably have to mortgage their homes to afford legal representation...."

There is NO EQUAL JUSTICE UNDER LAW in America today, and this retired old guy intends NOT to spend one shiny dime of my grandchildren's meager inheritance on some shyster lawyer's attempt to keep me out of jail! The members of our non-justice system can arrest me, of course; however, they should bring more than one body bag to finalize that arrest. YMMV, as I said, I'm well past my "use by date," and younger folk might need to exercise more caution.

More people, every day, foresee the possibility of another Civil War. "It feels bad to be this cynical." I agree, Mike. Unfortunately, it looks more ominous every day that such a war might be the only hope to bring America back from the abyss. As Mark Levin says, "America is not headed for the abyss she is already in the abyss!" More scary is the fact that the Civil War might just be the only war America could WIN today.

Most people are busy with their lives and have little idea how dire America's prospects for remaining the world's #1 Super Power. How many former military Flag Officers, warning that in a ground war with China America would LOSE, does it take to convince our anemic, feckless, leadership, at all levels, civilian and military, that America's "War Fighting" capability is in the toilet and requires IMMEDIATE trauma care?

Can you shed anymore light on this news? It doesn't seem like a good idea for this to be being done. Could this backfire and result in backlash to the republican candidates.
Would like to hear your take on this.

Along with HATE, FEAR is a powerful weapon. This is what the left knows very well. Now we have fear of our neighbors telling the FBI we did something even if we did not. Do the names USSR and the Third REICH ring any bells? How about N. Korea and China. I wonder where Biden, et al, will put the gulag? I must check my calendar to see what I was doing on Jan. 6, 21. Where are the once unimpeachable FBI agents? Why are we not hearing what the whistle blowers are saying.

Will we ever hear from Durham or is this just a career group?

I just read your commentary about the out of control DOJ (Biden's Steamroller DOJ: It's Out of Control). In addition just this past weekend I was thinking about the Declaration of Independence. It is a very interesting read especially when one thinks about the current "government" of the United States. Just saying.

"Biden's steamroller DOJ: it's out of control"

You think that's "out of control" - wait until you get a load of the country when the Republicans "take the majority" and usual tamely compliant, spineless, submissive "Republican" fashion...write a few "sternly worded letters" and then proceed to do absolutely nothing in the face of these frankly fascist abuses of power. I don't know if you've poked your nose outside of the "hallowed halls of political power" or the "media dens" situated along the coasts lately, but if fair and impartial rule of law is not reestablished - and if there are not real and tangible consequences for those who have abused the American people in pursuit of their own power - the powder keg that is America is very apt to go off. And from what I've been hearing of people lately it'll be the "do-nothing, self-righteous Republicans" that bear the brunt of the people's ire. This didn't start with Biden. This stated under Bush. And for decades the "conservative right" did nothing. Is it any wonder why people are disillusioned?

Start taking to THE PEOPLE - you know, that generation of 20-simethings who have been guaranteed a future of privation, instability and chaos thanks to the geriatric "ruling elite class" - and stop playing "moral high-ground, smug, superior, corporatist Republican." Answer to their anger instead of telling them to "lower the temperature" (i.e. "shut up and accept the suck, peasant"). Fight back, instead of pretending that the rabid Marxists destroying this nation can somehow be reasoned with. And for the love of Christ stop "compromising" with a cabal of psychopaths who want to enslave every man, woman and child in this country to their radical, hateful ideology.

Until such a time the silver-haired 1960's crowd might view "Republicans" as favorable, but the current generation will continue to skew towards socialism because, realistically, what else do we have to hope for, or place our trust in? An "American Dream" that we've never been a part of, and thanks to rampant inflation and decades of unchallenged indoctrination, will never see? Spineless "Republicans" who have for decades done nothing but bow to corporate oligarchs who hate conservatism in its entirety? What good is "calling out Biden's DOJ" if nothing will ever be done to oppose it?

McConnell will step down as Senate Republican Leader in November

Mitch McConnell announced Wednesday that he will step down as Senate Republican Leader in November. He is the longest-serving party leader in US history. He did not say if this has anything to do with the criticism he’s received from conservatives or with his recent health issues that caused him to freeze up in mid-sentence a time or two. But while he will no longer be the GOP leader, he intends to continue serving in the Senate at least through the end of his current term in January 2027.

And here’s a surprise: Robert Kennedy Jr. suggested that McConnell be replaced by Sen. Rand Paul. RFK Jr. tweeted, “It’s time to promote leaders in Washington, DC, who won’t kowtow to the military contractors or push us deeper into foreign conflicts. We need representation who will prioritize American wellness over all else. I believe Rand Paul would be an incredible successor. He’s shown great judgment and has the grit to put hardworking Americans first.”

    Get Out

Law Professor William A. Jacobson of the Legal Insurrection blog has been watching the politicized lawfare against Trump and conservative businesses and organizations in New York, and the unprofessional threats and ugly gloating by Attorney General Letitia James about how she’s going to destroy Trump. He analyzed the situation in light of assurances by Gov. Hochul that if your business isn’t doing anything wrong, you have nothing to fear. And he arrived at this conclusion:

“Get out of New York, if you can.” And if you can’t leave now, “Develop an exit plan before you need it.

    Pray for the Panhandle

Please join me in prayers today for those in the path of the huge wildfires in the Texas Panhandle and neighboring Oklahoma. There are five wildfires that are causing school closures and evacuations, including the evacuation of a nuclear power plant. The largest of them, the Smokehouse Creek Fire, covers 800 square miles and is now the second-largest wildfire in state history.

This is a link to live updates on the fires from the Weather Channel.

    No test?!?

The White House announced Wednesday that President Biden is making an unannounced trip to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center for his yearly physical exam…which will NOT include a cognitive test. Press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre dismissed questions about a cognitive test, saying Biden proves his cognitive abilities "every day [in] how he operates and how he thinks."  I’m confused, is that an argument for or against a cognitive test?

    -10:16 AM, 2/28/2024

    Talk about a delicious irony

One of the strongest arguments for overturning the ruinously large fine on Trump in his New York real estate fraud case is the Eighth Amendment protection against excessive fines. The Supreme Court ruled 9-0 in 2019 that that protection does apply to state courts. And one of the strongest arguments for Trump to cite came from liberal icon Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who said:

“The prohibition embodied in the Excessive Fines Clause carries forward protections found in sources from Magna Carta to the English Bill of Rights to state constitutions from the colonial era to the present day. Protection against excessive fines has been a constant shield throughout Anglo-American history for good reason: Such fines undermine other liberties. They can be used, e.g., to retaliate against or chill the speech of political enemies.”

I might not have agreed with many of her rulings, but judging from this, there’s no doubt she was psychic.

    Public Service Announcement

Public service announcement to anyone thinking of donating to Harvard or sending their kids there: The co-chair of Harvard’s anti-Semitism task force resigned Monday because she has no confidence that Harvard will implement any of the task force’s recommendations to stop Jew hatred on campus.

Related: Stephen Kruiser at PJ Media has a news round-up illustrating how bedbug crazy these pro-Palestine dingbats are and how they “have more vocal cords than brains,” from calling Jerry Seinfeld a “genocide supporter” to literally setting themselves on fire.

Private School For Me, But Not For Thee

Two Democrat Governors, Roy Cooper (North Carolina) and Andy Beshear (Kentucky), co-wrote an op-ed for USA Today condemning Republican attempts to give low-income parents vouchers to send their kids to the schools of their choice. They painted this as a racist conspiracy to loot the budgets of our precious public school system and set our schools back for a generation (as if the COVID lockdowns and the focus on woke politics and LGBTQ activism hadn't already set public school students back a generation.)

One problem: Both Democrat Governors send their own kids to elite private schools. But that’s okay because, hey, they can afford it.

    The Best People

President Trump was roundly condemned as a racist and a xenophobe for saying of illegal immigration that other countries were not sending us their best people. So just to clarify, here’s an example of one of those best people that Joe Biden let in.
