The Return of the Green New Deal

April 26, 2020 |

The Democrats have proposed the Green New Deal and the basic tenets of it have now been embraced by their presumptive nominee, Joe Biden. Those pushing the radical notion of ending fossil fuel use within 10 years because they believe the earth is only going to last for 11 years have said we have to do this NOW. So before you vote for Joe Biden to be President and for Democrats in the House or Senate or in the Governor’s office, you might wonder what the Green New Deal would mean to you. Now, it’s easier than ever to explain. Because if you have enjoyed “stay at home” orders and inability to travel during the coronavirus scare, you’re really going to love the Green New Deal!

Airplanes, cars, trucks and cruise ships won’t be around under the Green New Deal because they run on fossil fuels, which by the way we have plenty of—as in we could go for hundreds of years on them and not run out. The pandemic has caused people to stay home for fear of a virus. In the Green New Deal, you’ll stay home because unless you can walk or ride a bike, you won’t have a way to get to grandma’s house, the store, church, or a vacation. Since meat will be mostly eliminated because cows and other livestock produce methane gas when they….well, when they pass gas, grocery shelves will be stocked with tofu and plant substitutes instead of ribeyes and pork chops. And if you eat that stuff, there probably will be another toilet paper shortage. But unless you live on a farm, since since trucks won’t be allowed to burn fuel and bring produce to your supermarket, I’m not sure how your groceries will get to you anyway so learn to plant a garden unless you live in Michigan where the Governor there doesn’t think you ought to be able to buy vegetable seeds or go fishing.

Next, look around your house for plastic things you have and use. Hang on to them if you like them. They disappear with the Green New Deal.

And I’m not sure how you’ll power your iPhone, laptop or your TV when you have to run your household on the amount of electricity provided by a hamster running on a little wheel. Get used to washing your clothes the way your great-grandmother did, with a washing board and drying with a clothesline in your lawn or apartment balcony. Hope you don’t mind your neighbors seeing your underwear waving like a team flag at the playoffs. And if you live in a cold climate, be careful about those frozen articles of clothing. They will actually break like glass if you aren’t careful. One of the worst whippings I ever got when I was a kid was for going out and breaking my grandmothers frozen underwear that was hanging on the line after a hard freeze.

We’ve experienced lots of inconveniences during the pandemic, but at least we’ve believed they are temporary. In the Green New Deal, we’re talking about permanent changes of the way we live. I hope you liked online church because unless you live in walking distance, you’re out of luck. Remember-no cars!

But younger people who think Greta Thunberg is a prophet and who are especially pushing for these measures better be ready for the sacrifices of giving up air conditioning in the summer and fossil-fueled heat in the winter at home and at school. To help them prepare, I think we ought to go ahead and turn off the a/c at their schools and disable it in their cars. (They ain’t going to like that in Arizona!) And like their ancestors who walked or rode mules to school, students under the Green New Deal for sure will walk but the mule is out of the question because it might emit flatulence which, according to the disciples of the Green New Deal, will destroy the planet.

Yes, a hidden blessing of all of us losing jobs, income, freedom, mobility, investments, retirement accounts, convenience, and all forms of common sense is that we are now better prepared to live in an America run by the people who think you’d rather have their Green New Deal than to enjoy the benefits of a free market and a free people. If Americans really are dumb enough to elect politicians who will destroy our freedom and our prosperity, then the coronavirus ain’t the worst thing that can happen to our brains and our country.

Mike it is beginning to appear that the Coronavirus pandemic is part of the coup against President Trump. Fauci is tight with the Wuhan biotech lab that is thought to be the source of the virus. He provided millions in funding after Obama halted all funding to biotech labs worldwide. It is now becoming known that many in democrat leadership have connections to the Chinese biotech industry including the FDA and CDC.
The numbers of infections and deaths worldwide have been inflated to make the case of extreme measures to halt the spread of the coronavirus. But the real numbers are not as great as the common flu. 3/10s of 1% of the US population has been infected and for this we have shut down the country and put more than half of our workforce out of work. There is no limit to what the globalist Marxist deep state will do to destroy our President and conservative, traditional America.
I am a firm believer in the the Constitution of the United States and I am fearful for my country when it is apparent that our people have lost the belief in liberty and the commitment that liberty requires to sustain it’s self. In my opinion this is an artificial crisis to give the Marxist Democrats a victory in the upcoming election. My prayers are for God to protect our President and all those who stand in the name of Jesus for liberty and to turn the hearts of our people to righteousness. We are in deep trouble.

I know we are not supposed to hate people, especially if we want to be good Christians. But these Dems, Green New Deal people & the lying Media, well they all lie, they all make it really hard not to hate. Just being honest here. They claim we are stupid. Well living like Communists and choosing to do so, IS REALLY STUPID IN MY BOOK!!!! And what makes them think that their little pea brains are smarter than God! Do you really think after creating all this, it was put together with the small intelligence of a human & is built with flaws. God doesn't create like that. It's human brains that try to create, but it's loaded with flaws. 4 more years Sweet Jesus. Hold back the evil. Bring the wicked down. Raise up Your Standard. I ask this in Jesus's Name. I ask for Your Mercy, our country has failed you in so many ways, but please remember your people, who have not turned their backs toward You. Amen.

The use of fossil fuels has been around since the dawn of civilization when the cavemen burned wood in their camp sites. In a way, pollution of the air started at the same time.

Everyone touts the use of solar energy as the cure-all to energy, yet this same solar energy grew the plants and animals that decayed and developed into our fossil fuels. We are using this stored sunlight.

The Green New Deal wants to end the use of these fuels. Thus, this will end our way of life. There would be no vehicles to deliver food and products, pick up garbage, or take patients to hospitals. Windmills will never produce enough electricity to power industries, purify our water, or simply provide our needs for everyday life.

And like their ancestors who walked or rode mules to school, students under the Green New Deal for sure will walk but the mule is out of the question because it might emit flatulence which, according to the disciples of the Green New Deal, will destroy the planet.

Serious and realistic action must be taken in our time to counter a number of destructive trends, such as the increase in atmospheric carbon caused largely by fossil fuel use worldwide. OK, and as someone who has raised cattle in Arkansas, I guarantee those cows do contribute a little "bad gas", too!

Thank you Mr. Huckabee for you newsletters. It's time now for people to get back to work. I'm over 70 yrs. old. I'm willing to take a chance at getting sick or dying in order for my children and grandchildren to get back to work and school. We have done our best to help our American family but now we have to go on. Please say and do all you can to put people back to work and school. We don't want the cure worse than the disease. Thank you, Patricia Young

It is difficult not to feel a sense of helplessness, especially if you are middle class, retired, and live in New York State. How can you afford to make a difference politically and influence those who are effected by the smooth mouth of Andrew Cuomo who covers his grave errors and speaks the same garbage daily in his updates. My huge concern is that we will lose Donald Trump as our president, and if so we are in huge trouble!

Dear God - we must pray hard that these nut-jobs do not succeed - or there will be a revolution - it's insane what they're dreaming of - there is no way we can live with an green new deal. No Way. Please God, stop them. Defeat this nutsy idea. And you know that those with tons of money - like the propronants of the green new deal - will have access to private airplanes, all the groceries they ever need delivered, and seventeen cars. plus a few yachts. And they'll eat steak along with their chocolate ice cream.

I grew up when my mom use a wringer washing machine, scrub board, outdoor clothes line and basement clothes line for winter. Sometimes she hung clothes out in cold weather. Her hands got chapped. It was fun bringing in frozen clothes, but they thawed quickly. Sorry that my grandkids may have to regress to low tech living if Dems have their way. No more throwing clothes in washer and sitting in front of TV. No more throwing clothes in dryer and pull them out without ironing them and having them dry in 45 minutes. Clothes usually took at least 4 hours—if sun was out. But on bright side—Dems would be busy living life doing tasks at home instead of parading on TV spouting hate and nonsense.

Governor, I would certainly agree that the Green New Deal as originally expressed by a certain US Representative from the Bronx is an undesirable, unrealistic vision. However, some of the issues that drive the concept are very real. But there have to be practical solutions, including changes in how we use our finite natural resources, if we are to overcome the challenges. Your humorous piece notwithstanding, everyone - all of us - needs to promote responsible changes in those areas which are truly damaging our home.

One more thought... I believe the Lord gave us the Earth to supply our needs, with the instruction to have dominion over it. To "take care of" our home. We are definitely maximizing the supply side, but we must become equally committed to practicing stewardship and sustainability. Our exploitive, throw-away material civilization is facing very stark consequences in the near term. I wish the Church would see this as a moral issue of dominion over the Lord's Creation and become the leaders of the movement.

    Keep up the good fight!

O, Governor! I love your sense of humor & the way you incorporate it into your writings & interviews without taking away from the truths or seriousness you are wanting to report. I loved this article! Sadly, even with the humor....the truths of your article jump out and let one be aware of the lunacy of the left & the future they foresee. Joe Biden will lean so far left he will be lying on his side just to be President, I fear. But one question, Governor.... animals aren’t the only being who have flatulence....what happens to humans who are afflicted with this “problem” with AOC in charge? Will we have “flatulence” camps? Just asking for a friend.

Keep up the good work, Governor! You are stability in this spinning world. May God continue to bless you & yours.

The sad thing is, half of the country will respond with something like, "Oh don't be silly Mike... You're exaggerating... That will never happen..." Then, suddenly, there will be a real a-"woke"-ning and a wonderment: "How did we become a third world country??"

That 11-year existence of the earth could be something hoped for at that time by the Green New Dealers. If the rapture takes place in the next four years, it will be followed by 7 years of tribulation. After enduring that horrific event, the Green New Dealers will be ready for the earth to end.

As for me, I will be caught up to be with Jesus when He returns if I don't pass away first. No 7 years of tribulation for me! Then I will be coming back with Him for His Millennial reign on the earth.

It's amazing how many Christians push all the end-time events under the rug when they will be occurring in the future. No predictions needed about them. We just don't have a precise time or day when they will begin.

Something to ponder!!! When the roll is called up yonder, I'll be There!
