A NY Times reporter does it again

Less than 3 minute read

September 6, 2019 |

One of the immutable rules of “journalism” in the Trump era is that everything President Trump says or does must be spun, questioned, mocked or have aspersions or suspicions cast upon it.  And even when they are caught getting the story wrong, it’s still somehow Trump’s fault (for instance, if he points out their lies and unprofessionalism, he’s “attacking the media.”) This is how the New York Times has managed to flush its reputation down the toilet, and yesterday, their White House correspondent Maggie Haberman gave us a shining example of it.

https://www.westernjournal.com/nyt-reporter-falsely-accuses-trump-spinning-jobs-number-ahead-release/

On Thursday afternoon, Trump tweeted, “Really Good Jobs Numbers!” Since the Bureau of Labor Statistics numbers for August weren’t set for release until Friday morning, Haberman immediately jumped on that, darkly tweeting, “Did potus get an advance look at numbers out…tomorrow? And try to spin them ahead of time, which is deeply questionable as an action by a president?”

Many other reporters and citizens with no claim to being “journalists” responded that maybe Trump was referring to the ADP jobs report, which is always released the day before the BLS numbers, and which showed a better-than-predicted 195,000 new jobs in August.

Try to guess Ms Haberman’s reaction, and if you think it was an apology or an admission that she’d jumped to conclusions, then you haven’t been paying attention for the past few years.  While admitting that “perhaps” that was what Trump meant, she blasted the people who corrected her for “providing (the White House) with (a) sense of justification even though it (was) a POTUS tweet causing the questions in first place” (not “questions,” but “innuendo,” and not plural, since she was the only one who did it.)  And of course, her wild leap to conclusions based on animus and ignorance was whose fault?  That’s right: Trump’s!

Haberman tweeted, “He could attempt to be clear in what he’s referring to and then it isn’t incumbent upon his aides/some reporters to have to do that post-fact.”

Or she could do her own job instead of acting like a combination DNC PR agent and attack dog.  Oh wait, I forgot: she works for the New York Times.  That is her job now.

Well, since the Times’ reporters can’t be bothered, I guess the job of reporting the news accurately once again falls to me. On Thursday, ADP and Moody’s Analytics released their jobs report, which estimates that private sector payrolls grew by 195,000 in August.  That’s 47,000 more than in July, 55,000 more than economists predicted, and a four-month high overall.  It’s also a good indication that the economy is healthier than all the liberals praying for a recession would have us believe.

https://www.westernjournal.com/newest-job-growth-numbers-smash-economists-projections/

I expect to see this in the New York Times under the headline “Trump Attempts to Take Credit for Obama Job Creation” or possibly, “Trump Economy Attacks Times’ Credibility.” Or more likely, it will be buried behind 40 or 50 anti-Trump stories so that Times readers never see it at all.

Shame on Maggie Haberman for not having the guts or the humility to admit when she was wrong. You said it all...if anything happens about what our wonderful President says...these crazy journalists talk like all they have to do is ..BLAST OFF SOMETHING ABOUT OUR GREAT PRESIDENT TRUMP!
Why don’t they quit trying to hurt him and his family BECAUSE WE ARE TIRED OF HEARING ALL THESE HATE WRITINGS ABOUT HIM
The majority of Americans are TIRED..YES TIRED OF THESE SLANDEROUS REMARKS!
Just stop it and peddle your peaches in an other direction in our Country...or just QUIT
    WRITING IS OUR BEST ADVICE!

Governor, I can understand how, even the libs, continue tolerate the MSM. I'm hoping that most, thinking Americans, have written them off by now. As the Dems continue to toss our country down the toilet, the media grows more asinine in their praise of these leftist lunies. I pray for a time when socialism is no longer the story of the day.

WOW!!! It is becoming really really scary w/the media who thinks Americans are stupid, the tyrannical dems who think they're gods, the local terrorist hate groups allowed to do whatever they want along w/the illegals, and the mentally ill on the run killing people left & right because they aren't being helped! What's more the craziness in the way our police, 1st responders, firemen & vets are treated w/such disregard & disrespect when they should be held as the valuable life giving people they are! They give no concern to themselves day after day; putting themselves in harms way for those that poop on them & try to harm them & the dem govt their under does nothing!!! I'd be worried but I know God is in control & sees it all!!! Pray, pray and prays some more for anything & everything!!!!

I think the phrase "New York Slimes" really fits them.
I believe I heard that coined by Mark Levin?
Here is where we're at..."journalism is dead"

Investigative reporting seems to be a lost art. Perhaps there is no fire in the belly to find the real story. A reporter must feel unnecessary when the prez beats him/her to the scoop.

Mike Huckabee, thank you SO MUCH for staying on top of these outrageous attempts to trash our duly elected president!! He's doing a fabulous job and all we get from the media are insults and attempts to make him look foolish. Shame on Maggie Haberman for not having the guts or the humility to admit when she was wrong. Must be a pride issue on her part but she's made a name for herself for her many insult sessions against the president. It takes someone like you to shine a light on these types of "reporters" and I thank you very much. God bless you, sir!

Has Webster's issued a new definition of 'Journalism' that most or none of us are aware of or are they teaching Op-ed in lieu of 'journalism'? I always thought a 'reporter's' job was to report news not create news to satisfy certain members of society.

Gov, Even if I were in the NY area, I would not be paying attention to the NY city spin papers. The comedic episodes they are outputting are so out into space. I cannot understand but then as you like to say, I digress. Being a South Texas country boy republican Trump supporter I can only hope the AG Barr will upset the apple cart and get some indictments for the soft coup that was perpetrated upon this administration and still to this day continues as the socialist democrats come up with anything and everything they can concoct. I truly hope that the situation does not result in a civil war.

And they wonder why newspaper subscriptions have fallen.
My father, a Bataan Death March survivor, taught us not to believe anything we hear and only 10% of what we read. He said instead to research for ourselves before we opened our mouths. I thank him daily in my prayers.
Please continue setting the record straight!!

The liberals can all pray for a recession but, who are they praying to? Surly not the God of all of us deplorables!! You know, the one who spoke the world into existence and gave us the TEN COMMANDMENTS! The one who the Ten Commandments they through out of our schools?? The one who said ALL MURDER is wrong!! The one who said there are seven things he hates and a lying tongue is one of those things!!

I wonder why anyone pays any attention to anything these people say. CNN had an estimated 1.1 million listeners Wednesday during 7 hours of Climate Change garbage. Fox had more than double that amount for their regular broadcast Probably didn't, but should have sent a notice to CNN when their special broadcast has that low number of people listening over a 7 hour period. I don't think their sponsors were too happen when they paid their bills.

Your NYT piece is one of the reasons we’ve stopped watching “the news” as it’s a terrible way to start out one’s day! We’ve even been extremely disappointed with FOXNews as well. Other than the two week long storm on the east coast, Fox is the politics channel. Politics has made me sick to my stomach as the actual truth evades EVERYONE. There have to be some uplifting news to report but it appears everything is bleak...maybe that’s another reason for grumpy people! I’m more than concerned about my country and thank God I’ve been a true believer most of my life and will find true paradise some day. Fox has taken a seat in our trunk and will probably stay there however YOU will always have the front seat!

The media/newspapers are pathetic. It is bad too because they are the only business given special rights in the bill of rights. It is supposed to be non biased and fair.

    Unfortunately, the NYT pays them well to...lie. Maybe that's what they dreamed of doing when they were in " journalism school ". Ever since Woodward and Bernstein, " gotcha " has been the coin of that particular realm ;-}

You might point out that most of us would expect that the President of the United States would have information from departments of the Executive Branch of government before the general public and GOOD NEWS is GOOD NEWS with anyone "putting a spin" on it. Trump didn't put a spin on it. He only reported the fact. Only this idiot BIASED reporter did!
