One very common question sent to me by readers is this:  “WHY hasn’t President Trump fired the whole bunch –- Sessions, Rosenstein and Mueller???”  (I’m including plenty of punctuation because those comments typically have that.)  And yes, readers, you are right about about all those people needing to go.  Sessions, by recusing himself from anything “Russia” --- and, it seems, just about everything else in his job description --- has rendered himself worthless in his position as attorney general.  Rosenstein has apparently given Mueller unlimited power to investigate anyone for anything using any tactics.  He actually signed off on the last renewal of the warrant application that misled the FISA judges who granted permission for the FBI to spy on Trump associates.  And he’s in the untenable position of being a potential witness in a case that he himself is supervising.  As for Mueller, he’s obviously on a highly partisan fishing expedition that will destroy as many lives as necessary to catch the big fish.

There are two ways Mueller, with no evidence of crimes, can still land his fish.  One way is through the courts –- even going after people for activities that AREN’T CRIMES –- to be followed by the report he’ll write to offer some pretense for impeachment.  The other way hasn’t been talked about much but needs to be, and that’s for Mueller to use himself as bait.  Let me explain...

I had a slap-to-the-forehead moment after seeing a headline on The Drudge Report that said, “Dems worried Mueller getting fired” and going to the story.  The link took me to the NBC News website and a story called “In Case Of Mueller Firing, Break Glass:  Democrats prep an emergency plan.”  But this story isn’t about Democrats being worried that Trump will fire Mueller.  On the contrary, I got the impression that the Democrats are hoping and praying (the ones who pray) that Trump will fire Mueller, or Rosenstein, or pardon key witnesses.  In fact, they’ve worked up a detailed plan ready to go the minute he does it.

The authors of the piece interviewed nearly a dozen lawmakers, congressional aides, Democratic operatives and attorneys who were involved in the planning.  The first step, to be accomplished immediately, would be to prevent any special counsel documents from being destroyed or the team disbanded.  Senate Democrats would immediately demand a floor bill to protect Mueller and his materials.  Rank-and-file Democrats in both the House and Senate would immediately contact everyone on a list they’ve already put together of Republicans they consider to be sympathetic, some of whom, according to this article, have said privately they would act if Trump interfered in the investigation.

MoveOn.org has already organized and is ready to mobilize 933 rallies in predetermined locations, from big cities like Los Angeles to smaller towns like Bismark, North Dakota.  They’ve even got sponsors!  More than 350,000 people have already RSVP’d to attend.  They’ve planned this down to the hour; if Mueller is fired by 2PM on a given day, the rallies will take place at 5PM the same day.

Commentary continues below advertisement

Democrats are hoping that Republicans will be caught up in the protest and see that Mueller’s firing is so egregious that they’ll go along.  (Um, this is where they’re wrong.  Millions of Americans would cheer if Trump started firing these people, but that doesn’t mean it wouldn’t cause huge problems for this White House.)

Documents have been drawn up for every contingency the Democrats could think of, including Trump's pardoning of Manafort and/or Cohen and the possibility of a Nixon-style “Saturday Night Massacre.”

Trump’s decision to revoke ex-CIA Director John Brennan’s top-secret security clearance has apparently signaled to Democrats that they can’t predict what he might do and so must be ready for anything at a moment’s notice.

If Trump fires Mueller or Rosenstein, the Democrats will take to the floor of both Senate and House and demand obstruction of justice hearings and a special Senate committee, similar to the Senate Watergate Committee, to pick up where Mueller left off.  Democratic groups are prepared to demand that the Senate shut down until there’s a resolution.  Some will call for impeachment proceedings.

Letters have already been drafted from House Democratic leaders demanding hearings (Mueller would be called to testify right away), IG investigations, and information from White House counsel Don McGahn and the DOJ about any communications they’d had with the President before the firing.  Demands and more demands, all ready to go.

This has all been in the works for more than a year.  A “Friday group” of Democrats meets weekly to discuss the “Russia” investigation and keep the impeachment dream alive, and another weekly meeting includes groups such as MoveOn, Public Citizen, Indivisible, Common Cause, and People For The American Way.  “Different Democrats have laid out different red lines for what actions by Trump would trigger a full-blown crisis response,” the article states.

OUR TOP STORY: Manafort and Cohen: what does it mean?

The Democrats obviously don’t care if they wreck America to bring down Trump.  It’s for love of country that Trump must not fire Mueller, Rosenstein or Sessions, no matter how much they deserve to go.  I’m reminded of a recent tweet from sleazy porn lawyer Michael Avenatti (who’s probably getting money from some of these same groups):  “We. Are. Coming.  We are going to end this dumpster fire of a presidency one way or another.”  It’s their plan that sounds like the real dumpster fire, and potentially much worse.

Fine, if there is a reason to leave Mueller intact, but that does NOT justify leaving Sessions and Rosenstein in place. If there were someone serious overseeing Mueller--like Trey Gowdy-- Mueller could be forced to disclose his budget and even justify his prosecutions, before he goes there. This is inexcusable in my mind and a sign of weakness on Trump's part. Nobody said it would be fun. LR

They are certainly ready to pounce. Are we? What or Who would stop President Trump from calling in the US Marshalls? Could they be called in to arrest John Brennan for sedition, Hillary Clinton for selling Uranium to our enemy Russia, Obama for unlawfully spying on Trump’s campaign, Maxine Waters for threatening the life of our president & encouraging others to attack political opponents physically, Etc
So many could be arrested and brought to jail to await their court hearings. If not, why not ?
Many are advocating violence towards our President. He is the top guy. Why can’t he? . All his supporters will stand right there with him.

Hi Mr. Huckabee, I truly appreciate your daily newsletter emails. They are so valuable to help us discern what is truth and what is not. That is getting harder to do by the day. My comment is more of a question: lets say that they do finally get their way and manage, justified or not, to bring impeachment charges. As I understand it, that would not mean that he is thrown out of office. (I'm not sure what it does actually mean - what repercussions it would have). So, my question is, in the event they do bring impeachment charges, what happens next? If I understand it correctly, they would have to have a majority of the House to vote for impeachment, and then, if that was accomplished, it would then go to the Senate where they would have to have 2/3 in favor. So, IF all that were to happen (legal or not, constitutional or not, moral or not), what would happen then?
Thanks so much for your time. God bless you and yours, Sandy :)

And to think Mike you wanted to lead any part of this train wreck? Sarah is doing a wonderful needed job !!! I do not think that any of us who voted for Trump will be swayed by the partisan attacks - nor real Republicans will abandon the party platform. I have a hard time understanding why ANY follower of Christ could vote for a Democrat platform -- However, I think most discerning voters likely believe that in some of this smoke there is fire. I wish our CIC would just do a mea culpa and outline what went on in the run up. If the campaign did an end run around a lame duck President to lower international tensions for all our sakes, then Just lay it out to the voters and let the Constitution take care of the aftermath. Jeff Sessions and General Flynn have some background on this and even IF the campaign was in direct contact through back channels SO WHAT? Hillary was/is a crook and I think the electorate knew that and she was not going to be elected regardless of any actions or inaction's by Trump and associates. Unfortunately Trump has been given, and is being given, some very bad counsel. I am not optimistic that he will have the House and Senate majority to back him after November - God in his sovereignty has this covered, in spite of all our machinations, whatever happens is a judgement on this country --

I have wondered exactly how upset DJT is with Sessions. I know th AG requires approval and makes it more difficult to make a change, but there are numerous attorneys that could be moved into that position. President Trump doesn't seem to hesitate to fire others....I have to wonder if the Recusal doesnt put Sessions privy to everything without being accused of any bias. Just a thought. Well before Trump I knew that many politicians are in politics for self gain, but do any of these Democrats actually spend time helping the constituents that voted for them to be a representative? What a waste of taxpayer money that they can legally go after someone simply because they don't like him.

  • Bev Yost

    08/23/2018 03:06 PM

Actually, the Dems were ready to launch an all out war on the President before he won. I have written whitehouse.gov many times to fire the AG, Mueller, Rosenstein, etc. Sessions should no more been the AG than me. I keep thinking there must be a method to his madness. We do know whomever he replaces the AG with, won't get approval anytime soon. I heard him say there are 400 people waiting to be approved. I think it's amazing how much he has accomplished considering how much he's had to battle the left...that includes the republicans in name only. The left walked on eggshells with the previous administration, who imo did major damage to this country.

  • Carol Breeden

Thank you Mike Huckabee. I have had some of the same thoughts about why isn't something being done about the crazies. But somehow I came to the realization that this has to be played very carefully for the protection of good people and our country. Everything that is going on will eventually lead to the final battle with Jesus returning.....the big "A" battle. This is a real live monstrous chess game. But we know who wins. President Trump may make some mistakes; however, he is who God chose because he is probably the only one who could stand against the evilness of today and keep his sanity. There is no glory in what is happening. Donald Trump is not doing this for glory. He is doing it because God told him to and because he loves America and the people. I pray he does not put his foot into a trap. May God keep and bless him.

I'm really sad about all of this. You are 100% correct. I've felt this all should have been nipped in the bud, early on. It would have been painful then. But it might be disasterous now. These people have only grown stronger in power, unfortunately. But so have the Trump supporters. My take is that these pawns do not care if it comes down to a civil war, involving many lives lost. In fact, I think the deep state has been hoping for that all along. Most importantly, I believe they will do this BEFORE the end of January, when many of the blind people start filing taxes and can see for themselves what a great job this president has been doing for us. This is not only an attack on President Trump. It is an attack on all of the people that support him. He is the duly elected president. It's going to have to come down to who will protect us from these lawless attacks? It's time to be on the offensive. It's time to draw lines that they cannot cross. They scared Nixon into resigning. It's laughable that these criminals have done far worse than Nixon ever dreamed of. They have trampled the Constitution. But we will not have President Trump impeached. Slam your congressmen with letters.

Because I believe that God is ultimate decision maker in these matter, I feel assured that Trump will stay in office for as long as God decides. But it is difficult not to be apprehensive and upset about what is happening to our wonderful country. There are evil currents in all of it and it gets worse every day! But God will be the Victor!

It is certainly war, and it has become so vile and out of control, that we do not know the black hats from the white hats. Our Legislators are the clowns in this circus and are as untrustworthy as the Ringmasters and the lion tamers. “Oh what a tangled web they when first they practice to deceive. I, being a Conservative Vermonter, know all to well what it is like to live under the governance of the very far left.

PS Always been a fan if yours and now your daughter is absolutely AMAZING! Great job, Dad!

Talk about representing the "Idiot" of "Idiot Savant"!! ALL of You Members are just as GUILTY as the Dems; Sessions; Mueller; etc., for letting this continue. You sit back (on your Fat Wallet), and watch..."We the People's" Money (Over 7 Million) being wasted on this embarassment of Justice; the Nation; and the "WE the People" who put Trump in Office.

Hi Mike Huckabee, I love getting your emails. They do a good job of keeping me informed. I hope you are warning President Trump that he should not fire Mueller, Rosenstein or Sessions. Today he was getting on Sessions again for recusing himself. Maybe he does it publicly hoping Sessions will resign on his own. Please, Please warn Trump of what could happen if fires any of the three.
