New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo admitted that he was stunned to learn from new research that 66% of the state’s new hospitalized coronavirus patients had been “sheltering in place” before getting sick.

Some cynics pointed out that it shouldn’t be shocking that if almost everyone is being forced to “shelter in place,” that a majority of any group will be people who were sheltering in place. But it also shows that, as I’ve mentioned before, Edgar Allen Poe was right in “The Masque of the Red Death,” that you can’t hide away from disease by locking yourself up in the house forever. Viruses will circulate, some people will be more susceptible than others and will get sick, and when they do, the worst cases will need to go to the hospital. It should serve as a reminder to the “keep the lockdown going for years” crowd that this was supposed to be a temporary measure to “flatten the curve” – that is, to stretch out the infection rate and keep a massive wave of cases from overwhelming the health care system early on, before we had treatments, ventilators or hospital beds.

We now have all those things, and surpluses of the latter two. It’s time to face the fact that some people will get sick and we’ll have to deal with it, but we’re much better prepared to do so. Most others won’t get sick, and that will create herd immunity, which will help defeat this virus, just as it does all viruses eventually. We don’t want the cure to be worse than the disease, but we may be nearing the point where hiding out and doing nothing while waiting for a cure is becoming worse than the disease.

By the way, something to bear in mind: as we do more and more testing, many more people who are carrying the virus will be identified. This is completely predictable, since we now know that it was much more widespread than we thought, so of course many more tests will identify many more people carrying it. This will be used by the left to claim that in states that are relaxing the lockdown, there's a massive second wave of cases, which is not necessary true. Particularly when the tests were conducted even before the lockdown was relaxed and we’re only now seeing the test results.

Mike, you're so smart and the voice of reason for me and so many...I wonder if you have thought about how to eventually open up senior resident facilities? My mom lives in an apartment, independently, but in a building which also houses nursing home residents. They have been locked down tight since early March. They have had no cases, thankfully. Staff gets temperatures taken as they come and go, and wear masks. No window visits are allowed. I feel many are suffering from lonliness and dying from that while in lockdown. What plan, if any, is there to release these residents and let them see their families before they die of lonliness?

Well Obama feels the heat and is finally being flushed out of his hiding place with all of these new revelations of him not being the political saint that he pretended to be, especially with his wife running for surrogate President behind Biden as his Vice Presidential running mate (soon to happen). There is NO WAY that Biden is fit to serve as our President, either physically, mentally or historically with all of his corrupt baggage. But, they will tell bald faced lies anyway in the face of actual facts for the uninformed TDS folks in the hopes of a hail-mary election victory.

    These Democrats are totally disgusting!

I watched the Judy Mikovits video that someone sent me. She makes a lot of sense and provided a lot of insight regarding the Coronavirus history and present so-called pandemic. The
title Plandemic fits well for what has happened and is continuing to happen. The video I was sent was from YouTube. I tried to share it with several friends and each told me the video was removed for violating community standards. Apparently, expressing a point of view, even by an expert, that is different from the approved current view, is a violation of community standards, just as truth is on Facebook.

Question. How many got sick at home had Visiting Nurses, Health Care Aides, Cleaning Service, Family members providing health/home care, cable TV repair, plumber, and etc.?
I'm guessing there are a lot of variables not showing up in data or lack of data.
Or maybe it's a whole lot more airborne than we think.

A friend of mine is a biochemist. He stated normally when we socialize we come in contact with many pathogens on a daily basis, and thus our body keeps up it's immune system. When we are away from people and public places for extended time our immune system decreases. Fresh air, sunshine and especially diet and exercise helps our immune system to keep functioning.
Staying at home may be worse than a normal healthy lifestyle. The longer we wait to go back to normal just makes it worse for our immune system and increases likely hood of contracting and illness.
It would be really interesting to see the data on medical people who are contracting Wuhan Virus. Example are they usually working in the OR where germs of any kind are non-existent?
Point being there is just a lot we don't know.
"Except the Democrats they know more than anybody. You just have to vote them in election time to see what's in their brain." <--- just a little humor to lighten it up a bit, really, don't vote for them to find out, we already know ;-)

Also, if they went shopping anywhere. It is a known fact that the masks do not keep the virus out. Plus if you get it on your hands and touch your face, well you most likely just got the virus even though you thought you were doing something by "staying/sheltering at home".

Find out if those people live in an apartment or a house. If they live in an apartment, most of the air conditioning and heat come from the same units and the air circulates through out the whole building, therefore spreading the virus if anyone in the building has the virus.

This is the first time in my 65 years of life and perhaps in our entire history that the nation has been shut down due to a disease. Now with much fewer cases of illness developing to continue the pandemic and the consequences of not working putting us at risk of a great depression, it is time to begin returning to work/trying to get back to normal living even if at the same time we also accept temporarily the continuance of some basic precautions such as the use of social distancing to remain as safe as possible, too.

We should be striving for herd immunity. Viruses mutate to stronger more damaging strains. Without immunity, we could have a bigger disaster next fall when it comes back. Since 98% did not die, we are probably increasing the deaths by keeping people from getting mildly sick now and essentially inoculated now. Waiting for a vaccine is a political and financial ploy as the flu vaccine was only 30% effective when 80,000 Americans died from the flu.

Liberal media manipulation when you have a public who lack simple basic math skills. It is a very simple fact the more of anything you test the more positives and/or negatives you WILL obtain. You must compare apples to apples not apples to oranges , do not compare simple numbers you MUST ALWAYS compare the percentage of either negatives or positives to the total.

I continue to be concerned about the controversy between Fauci and Judy Mikovits regarding vaccine safety, Fauci's past history, and the Covid -19 virus. Did Fauci send tax payer money to Wuhan for further research into these viruses? If so, it will put Trump in a bind eventually. He needs to realize there are a growing number of us who feel Judy may be right on. Trump will face the decision to criticize Judy or Fauci. I hope, like with everything else, he is staying on top of this issue. Meanwhile, we are furious that as Americans, we don't get to hear both sides. To block part of the debate tells me social media like Facebook and Google are fearful of what Americans might find out. If they weren't worried, they would be fair and welcome a good debate on these issues.

    Gov. Huckabee,
In reading about Wuhan Virus statistical data from various sources many are saying there is a very high percentage of cases and deaths focused around long care nursing facilities(residence and staff). This information does not surprise me based on the other information about who is most susceptible and the close proximity of the residence within such facilities. It becomes very difficult to isolate sick residence properly. If there is such a high occurrence in long care nursing facilities why have states not focused on assisting companies running these facilities to better isolate their residence and staff from the virus? I've read nothing about Gov. Cuomo addressing this issue or other governors for that matter. States basically regulate and inspect these facilities not the Federal Government. If you want to "flatten" the curve look at what is causing the curve to spike. Personally I am a man, over 65 years of age with minor heart issues but in good health otherwise according to my doctor. While I am being cautious and keeping my distance from people in public and following other good health standards of washing hands and etc., I am not cowering in my house like a frightened animal or child. People need to work and earn a living for their families. Having people on government support and in food lines is not good for the mental health of America or any nation for that matter. It destroys the individuals feeling of self worth. I support people going back to work and giving responsibility to people/companies to follow good practices to reduce the spread of the virus. Increase the protection for long care nursing facilities and the ones currently infected use whatever means necessary to assist the residence to recover, under doctors care, even if the drugs have not been thoroughly studied by the normal channels. If you wait for those studies many of these folks will have died or suffered needlessly.
