President Trump announced on Sunday (in a tweet, naturally) that he would be calling for the DOJ to investigate the alleged infiltration of his 2016 campaign for political purposes --- he’s talking about the spying here --- and to find out if the Obama administration had anything to do with it.

On Monday, he made good on that, and top officials at the Department of Justice have agreed to put the Inspector General on a review of the FISA application process to see “whether there was any impropriety or political motivation in how the FBI conducted its counterintelligence operation of persons suspected of Russian involvement with the Russian agents who interfered in the 2016 presidential election.” According to the DOJ’s statement, the IG will “consult with the appropriate U.S. attorney” if any evidence of potential criminal conduct is found.

Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein had this to say: “If anyone did infiltrate or surveil participants in a presidential campaign for inappropriate purposes, we need to know about it and take action.” Is it just me, or is this a really tepid response, considering the stunning nature of these allegations?

Do you support President Trump's call for an investigation into whether or not the DOJ/FBI were politically motivated to investigate the Trump campaign? VOTE HERE

But once again, Attorney General Jeff Sessions is sitting on the sidelines. (No wonder the President is furious.) Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz has spoken with Sessions about this, and says the AG told him he is completely unwilling to step in. This is just getting ridiculous. Yes, Sessions recused himself from the investigation into the campaign’s alleged ties with Russia (that move actually made some sense, because he personally was involved in Trump’s campaign), but this is something else: an “investigation of the investigation,” and he’s supposed to be our top law enforcement official. Instead, we have a vacuum that’s had to be filled by the second-in-command, Rosenstein, who, unbelievably, is still directing the scope of the Mueller investigation despite YUUUUUGE conflicts of interest. Sessions should have fired him long ago. And if Trump can’t fire Sessions because of the political fallout, Sessions should realize he can’t adequately perform his duties as AG and resign, too.

Something about this is very wrong. And the DOJ investigating itself isn’t going to fix it.

That’s why it may still come down to Congressional oversight to get to the bottom of it. They’ve been pushing for many months to get the FBI and DOJ to let them see unredacted documents that they have the security clearance and the right to see, but recent revelations about ‘infiltration” (spying) seem to have energized House Intelligence Committee chairman Devin Nunes, who suspects there were other government “informants” (spies) at work within the campaign besides the one we know about.

Both Nunes and House Majority Whip Steve Scalise had tough words for the FBI on Sunday. They know the stakes are high and that this is not the time for backing down.

If the DOJ under Rod Rosenstein continues to stonewall (“Sorry, we can’t release that, because it’s part of an ongoing investigation...”), Trump needs to play hardball and just declassify all the documents in question. BOOM, like that! He’s the President, after all; he gets to do it. Also, former FBI agents can speak up and offer valuable insight into how the investigation might have gotten started. Case in point: Clarice Feldman at AMERICAN THINKER has an update that outlines a very interesting possible scenario suggested by former agent Mark Wauck. He says the Democrats may have used the cover of a “preliminary investigation” to gain access to all the NSA data they wanted on political opponents –- at least until Mike Rogers at NSA clamped down, at which point they had to do whatever was necessary to obtain FISA warrants. (He did the timeline, and it works.) You have to get pretty deep into Feldman’s article to find this, but it’s enlightening.

    Dear Governor Huckabee,
Please ask the President to act now, before summer sets in. The public needs this confirmed before elections in the fall.
I have great respect for you and your daughter.

I am so frustrated and heart broken with Sessions. My conclusions or questions are these:
    1. Is Sessions a spy for the deep state?
    2. Is Sessions a Trump spy? Because Trump has not ripped into him and is keeping quiet. So I am thinking is he doing Trumps bidding inside the DOJ? Is he secretly fixing the DOJ from the inside, out?
    3. Is he working with Trump to give enough time to hang the DOJ and get to Obama and Clinton?
My reasoning is this. If he went tough on the DOJ and FBI this could be wrapped up and Clinton, Obama would walk while a few lower people took the wrap. By taking the time to peel the onion we will have a chance to get to Clinton and Obama.

Didn't Bill Clinton have an "enemies list" during his presidency? If I remember correctly he (and the dems) used the IRS to go after their "enemies." If he got away with it... why shouldn't the Obama crew have had the same inclination. History repeating itself... only deeper and dirtier.

If DT has any authority to put people in jail for violating the law and constitution, now is the time. Rob needs a good conk on the head with someone's gavel to get him in motion. Jeff? Is useless, unless he is doing a TON of stuff behind the scenes. and I don't see him doing anything that is positive. If marijuana is all he's got, he needs to go back to AL and take his place as a senator. As more than one says including Greg Jarrett, "he's in over his head."

It's SO FAR PAST TIME for this idiotic, costly investigation to be wrapped up. It is also TIME TO CLEAN HOUSE of impotent and passive idiots like the AG and his deputy to be kicked to the curb. WHY Clinton and her goons as well as Obama are not being ACTIVELY and AGGRESSIVELY investigated and charged and prosecuted and put in prison is an affront to all the American people who would have been had they followed that course of criminal activities. They both are treasonous, selfish, power mad and completely un-American if that's what it take to get what they want. Obama is clearly on the side of the Muslims and supports Isis and a global government - as does Clinton. These ongoing efforts they are making to support this and undermine our government and President should be stopped cold by those in office NOW! The people elected Trump because he is *NOT* the usual politician that is controlled by special interests and does not care what the majority of Americans want. It's ridiculous that the rest of those in government can't find their cojones and prosecute these wannabe leaders!

I certainly voted "yes" to have the DOJ and FBI investigated, but the DOJ investigating itself? Jeff Sessions, the top law enforcement official in our country is "unwilling to step in" even when the President of the United States of America orders it? He is either a total coward that doesn't want to get his hands dirty, or the Democrats have some heavy-duty dirt on him and he doesn't want to be exposed. And Rod RosenStein is so deep into this "conspiracy, " if you will, he will most certainly NOT investigate himself OR in any way incriminate the corrupt Obama Administration. Congressional Oversight is the only people that might be trusted to get to the truth, but the DOJ and FBI, who are clearly above the law, seem to be able to get way with whatever they want, including stonewalling and "redacting" evidence that would incriminate them from many documents. This sounds horrible to say, but I am not sure we can even trust Congressional Oversight since they are as much a part of the Swamp as anyone else in the federal government. I feel so bad for President Trump. He is not a perfect man, but I really believe he DOES want to change America for the better, to what it can and should be. But there are too many establishment politicians and Deep State, firmly embedded federal officials (the Leftists) who want a completely different America, and are only concerned about having power and CONTROL over the Land and the People that I love. I am sorry to wax philosophical here but, President Trump really had no idea how deep the Swamp is. NONE of the people of this country knew. We were so naive. I am a voter and a conservative, and have voted as such all my life, but I am ashamed of myself that my eyes were so closed for so many years to the wickedness and corruption that was infiltrating our governmental institutions throughout this entire country. However, we are beginning to see...... There is a reason that Jesus entrusted Himself to no man, John 2:24, because he knew the nature of man. I continue to thank my Heavenly Father for the founders of our Constitution that, He gave such great wisdom to them in creating it that it protects us from the tyranny that would so evidently be upon all of us, and may still.
