How easy is it to accuse someone of sexual misconduct and be taken seriously from the get-go, even though the charge is completely bogus and isn’t even made by the alleged victim?

Turns out, very easy.  On Wednesday evening (the night before Thursday’s scheduled hearing for Kavanaugh accuser Christine Blasey Ford), FOX News reporter Ed Henry offered the latest example, a fifth accuser whose story fizzled.  This was supposed to be a 1985 sexual assault on a boat in Rhode Island.

According to Henry, the vehemently anti-Trump Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse of Rhode Island got a call from a constituent who claimed a close friend was assaulted on an early Sunday morning in August of 1985 by two drunk men on a boat in Newport.  The names of the men:  “Brett” and “Mark.”  (Mark Judge was Kavanaugh’s school friend and also part of Ford’s story, which he says never happened.)  The caller claimed that “Brett” was Brett Kavanaugh and said he had called Whitehouse after recognizing Kavanaugh’s yearbook picture in news reports.

Whitehouse, a Democrat, had already shown himself to be completely credulous of Kavanaugh’s original accuser, Christine Blasey Ford, accusing Republicans of failing to treat Ford with the proper respect and acting in “bad faith.”  This after Republicans had bent over backwards to hear from Ford on the record.  He said Republicans should allow “the investigative process” to play out before holding the vote to confirm or reject Kavanaugh.  (No doubt that process would be expected to take at least long enough for the midterms to be over, and, if the Democrats failed to take the Senate, would have to take at least another two years.)

Kavanaugh was questioned privately about this new accusation by Senate Judiciary Committee members, and the transcript was made available Thursday evening.  “This is just completely made up,” he told the committee, “or at least not me...I don’t know what they’re referring to.”

The caller has gone on Twitter to say, “Recanted.  Because I have made a mistake and apologized.”  Okay, fine.  But it should also be noted that in earlier tweets, this man called for a military coup against  President Trump and made another accusation, this time against the President.

He accused Trump of manslaughter.

Normally, an accusation like this “boat” story, with no evidence or even word from the alleged victim, would warrant exactly no attention, at least from me, but in this case it’s a good lesson in just how easy bogus accusations can take flight.  The false story, snapped up by a Democratic senator out to get Trump, actually got some play in the media before being recanted.  The “gang-rape” accusation made by a woman through Stormy Daniels’ attorney –- a woman who is being represented by the firm run by Debra Katz, Ford’s lawyer and a member of the Trump “resistance” –- is even more preposterous but has been taken seriously in the media and by those who say all women “have a right to be believed.”

Of course, it should be noted that the person who called Whitehouse was a man.  Ha, that explains the lie.  The other allegations were made by women, who do not lie, ever, for any reason.

As the claims against Kavanaugh grow wilder and more ridiculous, many women have had enough.  They see through this and are furious at the sight of women being used as political pawns, even though some are apparently more than willing to be used that way.  Perhaps the women who are being given center stage in this coup to keep Kavanaugh off the Court haven’t thought through the implications, or maybe they don’t care.  Are they not concerned about what this kind of accusation –- no witnesses, no details, no corroboration –- does to hurt women who actually have been assaulted and want to be taken seriously in a court of law?  By saying unbelievable things while insisting that “all” women have a “right” to believed –- a ludicrous assertion –- they are actually making it harder for women to be believed.  That includes the ones who deserve to be believed.

Brian Fallon in the New York Times said this:  “Saving the Supreme Court from Trump’s clutches has always involved a very complicated two-step:  first, block Kavanaugh, then fight like hell to win back the Senate.  If Kavanaugh drops out, we’re halfway there...If Democrats are able to win back the Senate, we’d have a path to blocking Trump from picking any of the archconservatives on his shortlist.”  Tell us something we don’t know.

The memo that obviously went out to all the Democrats gave a couple of default positions for them to take when questioned:  1) This is not a trial, so the usual constitutional principles such as “innocent until proven guilty” do not apply, and 2) There needs to be “a full investigation” before the vote, no matter how long that takes.

Of course, we know the reason for 2).  The idea is for there to never, ever be a vote.  As Andrew C. McCarthy has pointed out, these people have abused the process and, “the minute that you start to give delay to people who are seeking delay, you get more delay and more problems and that’s why we’re where we are now.”  As for 1), beware that argument.  We absolutely cannot abandon our principles of justice in the way we treat each other.  It’s a slippery slope in which violations of our rights will start taking over in more and more settings.  The thought that we would entertain that kind of thinking is a national disgrace –- exactly what the left wants.

Pursuant to this, Alan Dershowitz has a new column for NATIONAL REVIEW entitled “A Judicial Confirmation Hearing Is Not A Trial.”  Judging from that title, one might think he was going to agree with the Democrats that constitutional protections do not hold in a confirmation hearing.  One would be wrong.

It’s true that these proceedings are not a trial.  (If they were, Dershowitz says, that trial would be thrown out of court.)  The Senate is not tasked with solving alleged crimes or psychoanalyzing witnesses.  They are supposed to be exercising their authority under the constitution to advise the President on a nomination and, if they see fit, to consent to that nomination.  That’s it.  “The proceeding is not about guilt or innocence; it is about qualification,” he says.  But Dershowitz sees the Democrats as “hell-bent on turning the ongoing Kangaroo Court into a pseudo-trial.”

And even though this is not a trial, it is, according to Dershowitz, still unfair by constitutional standards.  (I assume he means that tired old principles such as “innocent until proven guilty” are still supposed to hold.)  The hearings have “descended into farce.”  He’d be fine if they didn’t happen and the Senate just went on to take the vote.

We have descended into assassination politics plain and simple. Continue on this road, a man black, white or purple will be demeaned beyond human. Every husband, son, nephew brother and farther will be worthless as a human cautious to even speak to a women, lady or girl. When all decency and moral character has been removed from reason, this is what happens. Many call for common sense to be used. The problem with that is that not everybody has common sense. It is not common any more. Common sense is a flower that does not grow in everybody's garden. Christians need to pray more than ever and we are fewer than ever, for our country, its people, and a government of honor not corruption. we have longed looked at other countries where a coup has happened and never understood how it begins. This is how it happens and is happening right before our eyes. People are not seeing it for what it is and at this point, my thoughts are, that prayer is our only hope. I am old, 74, but my grandchildren are not. What life are they going to have and I have boys and girls. If my people will humble themselves and pray. Please pray!

Listening to the political BULLCRAP on Dr. Ford hearing, by the Democrats, she lied about fear of flying because she flies a lot around the world. I know she's lying about an attack, a grope is nothing compared to being raped. I was raped, twice, 1st time at 16 by ex-family member & by a stranger at 21. I can remember details, but then I didn't drink. I tried to tell someone but feared what my dad would do that may cause the direction of his life, so kept quiet. To this day I chose to forgive than to destroy lives, God will judge them. FBI vetted him 6 times and found nothing, if these accusations were true, they would have found it. She also lied about her only coming forward because her name was leaked, by her when she went to the Washington Post.

If I were a democratic I would be ashamed of what is being done by them and never open my mouth to let anyone know. These people in office has turn this into a 3 ring circus and if they find out it is all a lie then they should be prosecuted for telling a lie. Just because Hillery lost the election was because people were fed up with Obama's bring down America, giving money to countries who shout death to America. Ruin our military bad health care, and his life style of seeing the world with his family at America's expense. This could easily be any one of us that due to lies from people who could care less about the truth that we are Innocent until proven guilty as it is suppose to be here in America. Every one of these senators should be fired and sent home in shame!!!!!

I have listened to quite a bit of the testimony of Mrs. Ford. I have an opinion that isn't just mind, but of many who have made comments whether to this or elsewhere. The Democrat party CANNOT be trusted. They will stoop to any level to get their way, their control and their agenda. Don't forget Judge Roy Moore, accusers coming out of the woodwork to destroy this man and none to be heard from after he lost his election to a Democrat. Roy Moore is just one example of the Democrat agenda. It was stated at the beginning of WWII after the Pearl Harbor bombing that America was a sleeping giant, but now awakened. I hope and pray that America patriots, conservatives, evangelicals, Christians and those who don't want to see our nation destroyed by the Democrat agenda, that the sleeping giant of 2016- the 63+ million voters will be even much more on November 6th. We CANNOT EVER, EVER AGAIN, give control to the Democrats in the House, the Senate, or the White House. A vote for a Democrat is a vote for the huge majority of that political party who support and want: sanctuary cities, the deep swamp of corruption (that they protected and covered up during eight years of Obama and all his cronies), they want to burden the America taxpayer by providing health care for all with an estimated cost of 32 trillion dollars. The Democrats want to disregard and or change the Constitution of the United States, they don't want justice and laws to be enforced by ICE or law enforcement in general. They pick and choose who laws apply to. They continue to support other countries that hate America and all the while they are working to try to destroy America. President Trump has exposed the deep corrupt swamp and by doing so he has exposed the Democrats and their politically correct agenda to continue Obama's and the Clintons agenda, along with many others. That is what a vote for a Democrat at any level means. They sound good in their political ads, but almost all of them are on the same bandwagon, and it is not in the best interest of America and Americans. Remember that and go to the polls on November 6th and vote for any candidate other than a Democrat !!!!!!!!!

I have been watching the SJC Committee hearing this morning. While I believe that something may have traumatized Christine Blasey Ford, I do not believe that the incident involved Judge Kavanaugh or Mark Judge. I also believe that money under the table is somehow involved and if she wants an IRS and FBI investigation then her records should also be examined. Not that a payoff would be exposed of course, but for fairness to her accused since she wants their records. Also, what's with the holes in her story concerning fear of flying, the long vs two question polygraph test, the conversation that she couldn't hear of the fellow party goers in the living room, and denying the fact that the SJC offered to come to her if she was afraid to fly. Thanks for your commentary!

First I like to say I thank you for being close to God and country. Just why haven't the government put the guilty parties in jail for lying? As we know when there is smoke there is fire. Everything just didn't happen lately, I think is started back in the late 50's. When in the family both parties had to work and no parent to bring the children up. As I watched Mark L. with Jon V. talking and I heard again God was missing from America/Americans.
Thanks for all your hard work.

This is what I have been saying all along. These women are doing damage to all of us that were assaulted. Those of us that really were would never be a part of this crap because if you didn’t come forward and deal with it back then you are still living in denial and would still not put yourself on display. This is crap and the republicans need to put a stop to it and vote this man in. Can’t wait to see what they do if Ginsburg dies in the next year.

I’m getting pretty sick and tired of the left trying to shove things down my throat. A very close friend just went through this very same thing. He was accused. Jailed for 3 months, till he could get bail. Kept on house arrest for another 6 months. Lost his job and faced life in prison. All on an accusation. When it went trial. The jury took 16 minutes to find him not guilty of all charges. The insident was supposed to have taken place 4 years ago. He wasn’t even in town when it happened. But that accusation almost ruined his life. Sorry for the rant but please people use the common sense God have you for once. Who knows you maybe next.

I think every person who makes claims against another person should be liable for false accusations. If Dr Ford is lying then, she should be put on trial and if found guilty, fined and jailed for purgery, defamation of character, interfering and obstructing a judicial process.
These people who want to bring up something from teenagerhood and ruin someones life for it should be held accountable. We need to discourage these actions with hard consequences. Now, if accused behavior happened in the last 10 yrs that's a different story.
I did plenty of things as a teenager that I am ashamed of, but that is not who I am 40 yrs later. Honestly the dems probably don't even care if he's found quilty or not, they just want to delay vote until after the election. (Also, if the FBI gets in this I hope they check the bank accounts of all the accusers to see if they received any large gifts of Money lately!)

This Bret Kavanaugh thing is completely out of hand. How many more of these sluts are going to appear out of the wood work and sewers before this is done. Isn't it strange how all these women suddenly appear after all these years. What are they being offered to come up with these stories? Who is putting them up to it? When in your life time have you ever seen such hatred and intimidation against people in public places just because they are conservative? Where is this all being generated from? I think all of us know if we just look at it with open eyes.

    09/27/2018 12:22 PM

I hope they just do the vote. The first accuser has no details. Each subsequent accuser have had no details and the accusers seem to have dropped away (except maybe the porn lawyer's client.) But, no big deal, the "stories" had already hit the press, blasted front page or talked incessantly on msm news. How out front are they about announcing the latest has been recanted? How out front have they been about reporting the accusers have no details? I am pretty sure that. unless they have changed their lazy reporting habits, none of the msm actuallyvette the story. You know, like back in the days of real journalism where they verify information before hitting the airwaves. I could make an anonymous call to any of these bastions of "news" to make accusations against biden or schumer or booker--well, those wouldn't be good choices, being democrats and all. But if I would use a Republican name, it would be the buzz of msm--without anyone checking to see who the anonymous caller is. I'm sure that, meantime, they would have someone looking for me, in order to get my exclusive interview. And, of course, would drop my "story" like a hot potato when they realize it's bogus--who knows if they would even say such before going on to the next big Republican scandal (in their eyes.)

Surely the Republicans are smart enough to see what the democrats are doing and will just hold the vote. I imagine there are millions of women who disagree with the current assessment of, if you don't believe the accuser without knowing any details, you are insensitive, misogynist person, and you have to believe her even if her "memories" are found to be false. Of course, this only applies to accusers of Republicans, it is, of course, different if the accused is democrat. In too many instances, Republicans have caved to the threats of democrats, believing that everyone would think bad about their decisions when there are millions of people who won't. Such as, millions of people know who is actually responsible or at least half responsible for government shutdowns--the democrats.

I agree with the damage being done to true victims of sexual assault who do have specifics about the assaults. As for, we HAVE to believe without facts, where would the Duke lacross team (as one example) be if people had just believed their accuser. Well, their college careers were ruined, but at least they aren't all sitting in prison.

Perhaps, the personal qualifications of Supreme Court Justices should be rewritten to include no accusations of sexual assault/harassment--and every sitting Justice would have to be investigated and removed if anything is found. After all, Judge Kavanaugh passed SIX investigations, so any number of the other Justices could have accusers coming out of the woodwork, too.

Deuteronomy 19:15-19 says: One witness is not enough to convict a man accused of any crime or offense he may have committed. A matter must be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses. If a malicious witness takes the stand to accuse a man of a crime, the two men involved in the dispute must stand in the presence of the Lord before the priests and the judges who are in office at the time. The judges must make a thorough investigation, and if the witness proves to be a liar, giving false testimony against his brother, then do to him as he intended to do to his brother. You must PURGE the EVIL from among you. Praying that JUSTICE will be done in our nation and that RIGHTEOUSNESS WILL PREVAIL.

Thank you Mike, for vocalizing one of several problems I have with these allegations as a woman who has been sexually abused in the past. Just as now people look warily at every parent or spouse at a news conference begging for their loved one to be returned because there have been many who used that as a ruse, false allegations harm the credibility of real claims. I live in CA and as an evangelical, conservative, monogamous women married to a man for 37 years so Diane Feinstein and Kamala Harris do NOT represent my views nor do they care about them. The good news is our children and grandchildren have managed to move out of here, TX and MT now have more conservatives. It saddens me to think our grandchildren will never know a world where the "court" of social media is seen as the justice system instead of what we grew up with. They are homeschoolers so they will learn about the Constitution, and the way our justice system is supposed to be run. Keeping the Kavanagh family, everyone in the administration and your family in prayer. Keep up the great work Mike! God bless you!

I would like to know if Ms. Ford went to this party alone or with someone (like another girl). Did she go to the bathroom alone up winding stairs or with another girl? I never knew any girls (past or present) that did not ask another girl to go to the bathroom with them. If she was alone - why would she go to a party of all boys (?) If other girls were there, who are they? These are just some of the questions I would like to ask.

If every woman is supposed to be believed, what about the many women throughout Judge Kavanaugh's life - high school, college, coworkers in the White House, clerks in his offices - who have reported his behavior toward them as always proper, respectful and courteous? Aren't they to be believed?

I agree. Its absolutely disgraceful what the Democrat party has devolved into! "Presumption of guilt"? What type of nonsense is that? If they want anarchy without ROL, we might as well send out arrest warrants and become a Stalinist regime / totalitarian society just what they want. I say fight truth, logic and history. This whole circus orchestrated by the Democrats is so evil, that nothing can compare to it, other than the wholesale burning of Joan de Arc by the rabid English, who identified her as a witch, because she heard voices from the Saints to get the French Dauphine crowned, and routed the English Army. Now THAT was sexist!
Judge Kavanaugh' s record speaks for itself. Unsubstantiated claims are still unsubstantiated claims even if the accuser is a good actress.

Don't believe unless verified. Innocence is the foundation of human dignity and respect. Dems don't care.
