STUPID QUESTION

Here is video of President Trump’s full COVID-19 (Chinese) coronavirus task force press briefing from Monday…

Trump took a couple of days’ off from his briefings because he was fed up with dealing with hostile, accusatory and downright stupid questions from the media. But I’m glad to see the media didn’t let that time go to waste. New York Magazine’s Oliva Nuzzi obviously spent it working extra hard, trying to craft a question even stupider and more accusatory than last week's "injecting Lysol" idiocy:

"If an American President loses more Americans over the course of 6 weeks than died in the entirety of the Vietnam War, does he deserve to be re-elected?"

Trump kept his cool and gave a much better answer than the question deserved. David Marcus at the Federalist examined why it was such a ridiculous question, and how Trump might have answered it or how she might have expected him to answer it.

Personally, I might have pointed out that each year, over 38,000 Americans die in car accidents, which means that over Obama’s eight-year term, over 5 times as many Americans were slaughtered on the highways as died in Vietnam, and he did nothing to prevent it. I look forward to Ms Nuzzi’s article in New York Magazine calling for Obama to be brought up on war crimes charges because over 300,000 people died violently while he was in office.

(NOTE: The original version of this piece had an incorrect number of highway deaths because our source mistakenly quoted the global death number, not the US number. We corrected it and own up to the mistake because we’re not CNN.)

DEMOCRATS: CONTINUE TO DENY REALITY

There are times when I almost feel sorry for loyal Democrats. Over the past few years, in order to keep from being slandered and hounded by Twitter mobs, they’ve had to force themselves to live in a constant state of denial. And I don’t just mean pretending not to notice how badly their cherished leftist policies failed during the Obama Administration and everywhere else they've been tried.

Starting in 2016, to remain a Democrat in good standing, you had to deny that Donald Trump was really the President (or “my President”), that his negotiating tactics really had resulted in better trade deals for the US, that the tax cut benefited people other than the “super rich,” that the economy really was creating record numbers of jobs, and that pay for lower and middle class workers really was rising. It took a pandemic to derail that booming economy.

Just since January, Democrats have had to deny that Trump was right to block travel from China and Europe, that the pandemic was caused by China’s carelessness and lies, that it’s worth studying promising treatments like hydroxychoroquine and UV light even if Trump did say good things about them, and that globalism and open borders have proven to be disastrous ideas, even more dangerous than densely-populated urban living, mass transit and reusable grocery bags.

But the denial of reality shifted into hyperdrive this week. Democrats across the nation are refusing to listen to Americans as they demand to reopen their businesses, even when some of those on the verge of open revolt are other Democratic politicians

They accuse Republicans of being “science deniers,” yet they refuse to listen to doctors and researchers who say the data indicate that the coronavirus is far more widespread and less lethal than we originally thought, and that keeping society shut down is doing more harm than good. It’s even doing irreparable harm to the health care system (laying off doctors and shutting down hospitals) and causing deaths by preventing people from getting necessary medical care (here’s just one example…)

…all in the name of keeping hospitals free for the projected crush of COVID-19 patients that never materialized.

When two urgent care doctors in California discovered that the virus was far more widespread in their counties than previously believed, and that the real odds of dying from it were only 0.03%, they were denounced for no solid reasons and YouTube (a subsidiary of ultra-liberal Google) removed their video because it didn’t jibe with the World Health Organization – the same group that’s repeated patently bogus Chinese propaganda since the beginning.

And those aren’t the only doctors who are speaking up against the “shut down the world or we’ll all die” Democratic party line:

Some Democrats are even denying their own previous statements

And speaking of denying your own alleged principles, whatever happened to “Believe all women?” Two more women have come forward to verify that former Joe Biden staffer Tara Reade told them of her sexual assault allegation against Biden in the 1990s, and both women are Democrats.

Speaking of denial, one of the women who spoke up for Reade said, "I personally am a Democrat, a very strong Democrat. And I'm for Biden, regardless. But still I have to come out and say this." Remember the outrage from Democrats when Trump facetiously said he could shoot someone on Fifth Avenue and his supporters wouldn’t abandon him? Well, here’s someone corroborating an allegation of sexual assault of a friend against the presumptive Democratic nominee and adding, “I’m for Biden, regardless.” And she's actually serious.

Yet the Party and its PR flacks in the media are sticking their fingers in their ears and “la-la-la’ing” all the way to the election. The Washington Post even seems to think the only newsworthy part of this story is that “Trump allies” are “amplifying” Reade’s story by paying attention to her. Well, somebody should, don’t you think?

Move over, Cleopatra! We have millions of new contenders for the title “Queen of Denial.”

FAKE NEWS TUESDAY

Fake News Tuesday: No, it was not President Trump’s idea to put his name on the coronavirus relief checks that are being mailed to Americans who don't have direct deposit. That was Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin’s idea. And he says that despite rumors, it did not cause any delay in sending the checks.

REAL NEWS

However, here’s some real news: Chuck Schumer is pushing a bill to try to keep Trump’s name off the checks, and that actually would delay them being delivered to Americans who desperately need them. But I’m sure those people will appreciate that it’s much more important that they not see Trump’s name on a check for the ten seconds it will take them to endorse and deposit it than it is for them to get the money quickly so they can squander it on rent and food.

TOO FAR

A judge in Illinois has ruled that Democratic Gov. J.B. Pritzker's stay-at-home order exceeds his emergency powers and infringes on citizens’ Constitutional rights. Pritzker railed that the questioning of his authority on this is “insulting,” “dangerous” and will put people’s health at risk, and he vowed to appeal the ruling.

The irony is that the other major controversy Pritzker is facing is anger over his releasing prison inmates who might be at risk of contracting the coronavirus. So if you’re a convicted criminal, you have to be released to keep you healthy. But if you’re a law-abiding citizen, you have to be locked up to keep you healthy. Understand? If so, please explain it to me.

FYI: Gov. Pritzker probably won’t want to appeal his case to Attorney General Bill Barr, who just told federal prosecutors to report any excessively restrictive shutdown orders that violate Americans' civil rights…

SUPPLY CHAIN WOES

I don’t want to give you even more to worry about, but here’s another reason to end the lockdown and let Americans get back to work: because we’d all like to be able to eat in the future.

GONE

Latest on North Korean dictator Kim Jong-Un: It’s still unclear whether he’s dead or just locked down due to the coronavirus, like everybody else.

RIP TROY SNEED

I am saddened to report that the coronavirus has taken another talented musician from us. Grammy-nominated gospel singer Troy Sneed died Monday in Jacksonville, Florida, of complications from the virus. He was only 52.

Sneed started his career with the Georgia Mass Choir, which appeared in the film “The Preacher’s Wife” with Whitney Houston. He then formed Youth For Christ before launching a gospel record label with his wife Emily and releasing seven solo albums. His hits include “Work It Out” and “My Heart Says Yes.” Our deepest condolences and prayers for his wife and family. Here are some samples of the inspiring musical legacy he left us.

C-H-I-N-A

Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates was asked about attempts to hold China accountable for causing the worldwide deadly coronavirus pandemic, and he brushed that off as “a distraction.” He’s right: holding China to account might distract from all the medical care, quarantines and funerals we have to arrange all over the world BECAUSE OF CHINA!

THANKS AGAIN COLIN K.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said the football league plans to reopen in a “safe and responsible” manner, but he declined to say whether that means playing games with no fans in the stands. If so, then I guess they owe Colin Kaepernick thanks for getting people used to empty stadiums before we even knew there was going to be a virus to avoid.

HUCK'S HERO

A big Huck’s Hero salute to New Jersey newspaper deliveryman Greg Daily. When an elderly customer asked if he could throw the paper closer to the garage, it made him think that if she couldn’t walk that 20 feet, how could she go out for groceries during the lockdown?

So he put a note inside every newspaper, offering his services to shop for and deliver groceries free of charge to his elderly customers. He’s now busy helping nearly 100 people, some of them not even on his paper route. One grateful 85-year-old widow called him “one of the finest people in the world.” Daily said the seniors appreciate the help so much, he’s decided to keep doing it even after the lockdown ends. He said, “There’s something about being able to do something really nice for people.”

There sure is! Our thanks to Greg Daily for reminding us all that “social distancing” doesn’t mean you can’t reach out to the people around you who really need your help.

And on that subject, here’s another story that could have gone a very different way, if it weren’t for the kindness and compassion of a grocery store owner in Ontario.

    Hey Mike,
You have probably already gotten notes regarding car crash death toll mentioned in the recent newsletter.

That statistic of 1.25 million auto accident deaths per year is a GLOBAL total.
The USA auto crash death total was 38,800 in 2019.

    With Respect.

I believe all the Democrats, including all the Democratic Governors will do everything within their power to keep their states from opening for business using "safety" as their reason. But that is NOT their reason. The reason is this. Donald Trump won the election on the economy and in his first three years, this is exactly what he did. He brought manufacturing jobs back to the U.S., negotiated better trade deals for the U.S. had the lowest unemployment among ALL people in history and a stock market that went off the charts and the list of accomplishments goes on. If the economy is strong that would win him the next election. So the Democratic Governors are finding any way they can to delay the opening of their states for business. They don't care one bit if businesses fail, and people lose their jobs and the economy crumbles. All they want is power and to win the presidency in 2020. And they will stop at nothing to accomplish it. What better way to win than to destroy the economy and blame its destruction on the President. And any person who dies after any state opens their state for business, they will lay the blame for their death on the President.

I always. Enjoy reading your perspective on the day’s current events. Thank you! I would like to know your perspective on how China is buying American companies, farms, and (I read today) Texas oil fields. I understand that this has been going on for several years. I also understand that the federal government has to approve these transactions. What recourse if any do we have? And how can we get America back or is it too late?

Why do we let forgien countries buy our land????BANKRUPTING AMERICA: PELOSI SUGGESTS MINIMUM ‘GUARANTEED INCOME’ SHOULD BE LOOKED AT MORE CLOSELY
Steven Ahle | Posted on April 28, 2020
Nancy Pelosi is now exploring another incredibly stupid idea. Although she did not directly endorse the measure, she says we should look at a guaranteed basic income more closely.

Where do the liberals come up with such ideas? My guess is Cloward-Piven in which the two who came up with the idea of bankrupting the country to make it easier to slide into communism.

There are or at least were over 160 million Americans in the workforce. 22 million of them have been laid off. There are tens of millions of others who would be eligible for the payoff.

Let's do the figuring based on just 1 million Americans.

Let's assume that the number is $1,000 a month for 12 months. That would be $12 billion dollars. Now multiply that by 100 million Americans. That would be 1.2 trillion dollars per year and that is an extremely low estimate.

Estimates of the cost range as high as three trillion dollars a year.

In addition to that money Pelosi and the Democrats are fighting for the easily manipulated mail-in balloting.

Election Day's only significance would be to tell the Democrats how many votes they would have to manufacture to win every election in America.

    From The Daily Wire

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) told MSNBC on Monday morning that the Paycheck Protection Program, which extends loans to small businesses to cover certain costs and to keep employees on payroll, was not sufficient and that lawmakers should begin weighing the option of a minimum guaranteed income, although she declined to explicitly endorse the policy position herself.

“Others have suggested a minimum income for — a guaranteed income for people. Is that worthy of attention now? Perhaps so,” Pelosi told MSNBC host Stephanie Ruhle on Monday morning after talking about the Paycheck Protection Program. “Because there are many more people than just in small business, and hired by small business — as important as that is for the vitality of the economy — and other people who are not in the public sector, meeting our needs in so many ways, that may need some assistance as well.”

The idea of a minimum guaranteed income recently gained popularity in the political sphere, in part, through heavy promotion from former Democratic presidential candidate Andrew Yang, who referred to his plan to give American adults $1,000 a month as “The Freedom Dividend.”

The American political class has a short memory when it concerns the Chinese Communists. Who supported North Korea during the invasion of the South? The Chinese and the Soviets. Who supported the North Vietnamese and the Vietcong? The Chinese and the Soviets. Who supported the Khmer Rouge in Cambodia? The Chinese and the Soviets. They were responsible for 95,000 dead Americans and millions of Southeast Asians.
How can they be trusted to be honest with the world?
These two communist countries supplied weapons, ammunition, supplies, “advisors” , aircraft and pilots that helped kill over American young men and women. Millions of southeast Asians and Koreans.

Governor Huckabee, I am very concerned about the potential stimulus package being proposed that would include mandatory mail in ballots. My question is what does that have to do with the virus? President Trump suggested a payroll tax suspension for employer/employee. That is a brilliant move to get the economy moving without diving deeper in debt and all but assuring voter fraud in favor of Democrats in upcoming elections. It seems our President is getting beat up by the left but where are the voices of Republican Congress and Senators standing up for our President? I am concerned that the left will destroy our economy and our future elections unless the Republicans remain tough and support our President. Thank you.

The cattle rancher Said they got word that meat from foreign countries was being shipped in. He also said there would be a food shortage of our own making. Governor Huckabee, I appreciate your daily updates and feedback!
However, pardon me, but this is off the subject of today’s message!
Here’s my very serious question: Why the heck doesn’t President Trump fire Wray from the FBI? I don’t think that he has done anything in cleaning up corruption on his watch! I certainly don’t see any “heads rolling” and no people being charged or convicted of any criminal activity! Plus, I don’t believe that he is on our President’s side! Can’t you just recommend to the President that he should be fired? Hey, how about installing Judge Jeanine Pierro as the new FBI Director??!! She would certainly clean that corrupt organization up, and fire people at the “top echelon” down who are indeed corrupt! Thanks, Gov, for hearing me out!

Mike, in response to your statement that you "are saddened to report that the coronavirus has taken another talented musician from us," I say I am saddened to RECEIVE this report! And my sadness is made even more so upon my learning that Troy Sneed was the one who formed Youth for Christ!

Minutes after I wrote my comment to your earlier newsletter today I learned that the coronavirus wound up taking ANOTHER life from us that affected me deeply and because the news of this person's life was, in some inexplicable way, somehow relevant TO what I had just expressed IN my comment to you, I sought to relieve the grief that was mine, upon learning OF this tragic death, by writing a comment ABOUT it right then....SO, I AM GOING TO COPY, AND PASTE, THAT COMMENT BELOW ...and the way I can make it relevant TO this newsletter is to say that...in answer to YOUR saying, "I am saddened to report...." I say, "and I am saddened to report........" :

MINUTES AFTER I WROTE MY COMMENT IN RESPONSE TO YOUR MORNING EDITION, I READ THE FOLLOWING NEWS REPORT: "Dr. Lorna Breen, the medical director of the emergency department at NewYork-Presbyterian Allen Hospital, died by suicide on Sunday. Breen's father, Dr. Phillip C. Breen, told Business Insider she had treated many coronavirus patients and HAD BEEN SHAKEN BY THE SUFFERING AND DEATH SHE WITNESSED ON THE JOB. 'I want her to be remembered as SOMEONE WHO DID EVERYTHING SHE COULD UNTIL IT KILLED HER', he said."

"Breen's father, Dr. Philip C. Breen, told Business Insider that his daughter was a snowboarder, a salsa dancer, an avid traveler, and a cellist, WHO WENT TO CHURCH REGULARLY and volunteered to care for elderly people."

"Chief RaShall Brackney of the Charlottesville Police Department also said: 'Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) can reduce the likelihood of being infected, but what they cannot protect heroes like Dr. Lorna Breen, or our first responders against is the emotional and mental devastation caused by this disease. ' "

AND the REASON I capitalized the phrase, "HAD BEEN SHAKEN BY THE SUFFERING AND DEATH SHE WITNESSED ON THE JOB"....and the statement, "SOMEONE WHO DID EVERYTHING SHE COULD UNTIL IT KILLED HER" ...and the phrase, "WHO WENT TO CHURCH REGULARLY", is because I could almost receive it as the LORD'S response to what I wrote in my earlier comment to you.....
    BECAUSE.....

The source of my GRIEF that I talked about IN my earlier comment is BECAUSE I "have been shaken by the suffering and death I have witnessed on my mission" TO, what I keep referring to as, our dying kids....who, during the earlier phase of my mission, died because they had committed suicide and now, during the later phase of my mission, have died because they were shot, and killed, by another kid! These kids' deaths would not have been MORE grievous to me had they died of the coronavirus! Many of the kids who committed suicide did so by hanging themselves and I don't know how dying of a virus can be any more traumatic than seeing a kid die OF hanging!

The reason I capitalized the phrase "someone who did everything she could until it killed her" is because there are times when it "feels like" my grief COULD kill me ..NOT because I would ever even contemplate committing suicide... but, rather, because I "feel like" I can die from a broken heart!

And the reason I capitalized the phrase "who went to church regularly" is because it brings out another dimension of the "issue" of one's "going to church" ...an issue that I also talked about in my earlier comment ...AND THIS OTHER DIMENSION OF THIS ISSUE IS THAT....MODERN -DAY CHURCH DOES NOT EQUIP CHRISTIANS TO DEAL WITH "THE SUFFERING AND DEATH" THAT IS PART OF THE COST OF DISCIPLESHIP ...PART OF THE COST OF PICKING UP ONE'S CROSS AND, BY SO DOING, SAYING YES TO SHARING THE AGONY... TEARS...AND "SUFFERING" ....OF OUR MAN OF SORROWS!!!!!

Jesus PROMISED us that His grace was sufficient to enable us to cope with EVERY life situation, so this precious doctor did not HAVE to end her life to end her pain and since I have had an outreach ministry to people who, like this doctor, were also suicidal, but changed their mind when they were helped to understand HOW His grace was sufficient to, if not end, at least, transcend, their pain, I have lived the truth of our Lord's promise OF the suffiency of His grace to us....and, HAVING lived it, I now grieve over this doctor's unnecessary death.....My coffee mug, sitting right next to me, reads: " LORD, HELP ME TO REMEMBER THAT NOTHING IS GOING TO HAPPEN TO ME TODAY THAT YOU AND I CAN'T HANDLE TOGETHER. "......and if only someone could have helped Dr. Breen remember that before she took her life!.......OR....EVEN IF SOMEONE COULD HAVE LET HER SEE .....FROM AN EARTHLY PERSPECTIVE ....THAT, IF SHE TOOK HER OWN LIFE, IT WOULD MAKE ALL SHE HAD SUFFERED...TO EASE THE SUFFERING OF OTHERS... BE IN VAIN BECAUSE, IN THE END, IF SHE TOOK HER OWN LIFE, it would wind up INFLICTING suffering on those she loved the most, her own family!!

Things Covid-19 has taught me ...

Society's priority for a world-wide pandemic is toilet paper.

If the Walmart cashier advises there is a two item limit, it is proper etiquette to spray Lysol in her face.

When your store is out of toilet paper, it is perfectly ok to remove same from someone else's buggy.

Committing the crime of unarmed assault is perfectly legal in the produce aisle if someone gets closer than 6 ft.

After toilet paper an AR-15 and 1,000 rounds of ammo is the next priority, even though you have protested numerous times against the NRA with Antifa and Black Lives Matter.

As an elected official it is ok to advise millions of Americans to gather together in the China District even though the government has put a ban on groups.

There is no problem threatening to "shoot up" your local Walmart because not enough people are wearing face masks.

Finally ... being a Prepper is cool.

Third priority is selling your first born so you can afford to install an underground shelter in the back yard.

Converting the basement grow lights from marijuana to vegetables is easy.

LA homeless people are impervious to Covid-19.

The human species can be facing total annihilation and the Democrats will remain laser focused on impeachment.

Closing the country's borders from foreign travelers is racist, homophobic, misogynistic and violates every word in the US Constitution ..... and Trump didn't do it fast enough. What the HELL was he thinking ?

President Obama failed to re-build / re-stock America's emergency medical supplies and equipment .... and dammit it ... it's all Trump's fault!

Republicans despise Socialism and everything it represents but were the first to pass a multi-trillion dollar bail out package with money the country does not have.

Bernie Sanders has lived his entire life preaching Socialism and pushing for it's implementation in the United States. He was also the first to bail on Socialism 4 weeks into an introductory practice version.

Democrats are very concerned about the average American during these very trying times. So much so, they held up passage of the first bail-out package until millions of dollars of the package were allocated to the Kennedy Center for cleaning and maintenance.

Snitching on your neighbors, as the Germans did to the Jews during the Nazi years, is
now acceptable in the United States.

A flu type illness is justification to suspend Constitutional Freedoms.

The rest of America now understands what Floridians experience every Hurricane Season.

Someone other than college students are now eating Ramen Noodles.

82.3% of American citizens either don't know how or simply don't cook, as evidenced by the empty frozen food section in every store.

Planning where to go for this year's summer vacation by reviewing the blueprint of your home and the backyard.

Trying to comprehend why Divorce Attorneys are so ecstatic about the self-isolation mandates.

Why 257 million gun owners are home schooling and there hasn't been a single school shooting anywhere.

Their great-grandparents fought the Greatest War in History ... and survived ... but the Millennials are committing suicide over staying home and playing Nintendo games.

Why, when the DOJ was just about to issue Grand Jury subpoenas relating to the Clintons,
    Covid-19 appeared.

Learning just how dumb Americans really are ... when the sales of a Mexican beer plummeted.

How millions of people feel a 16 year old Scandinavian girl who suffers from Asperger syndrome, obsessive–compulsive disorder (OCD), and selective mutism is an expert in Global Warming but refuse to believe college degreed medical professionals providing guidance and advice on Covid-19.

Why Americans should be warned to not purchase N95 masks because they only work on medical professionals.

Why it is acceptable to purchase groceries during the pandemic, so long as you take the necessary precautions, but election voting should only be done by mail.

How Democrats can condemn defunding the WHO, when that organization lied, covered up the truth and walked lockstep with China's propaganda campaign to protect themselves.

After all of this is over I am doing one of two things:

#1: Offering myself for a UFO Abduction victim so I can live on another planet.

#2: Purchasing several acres much, much, much further into the wilderness than I currently am and telling the world to go screw itself.

Thank you my fellow humans for showing your true selves. Come anywhere near me and my loved ones and I'll use some of my 12 ga and .223 ammo .

    God bless !

I like to read your commentary and hear a sane person. While replying to each and every item you discuss would take me away from playing Cities Skylines, I feel I can say something once in a while. This shutdown shows us what tyrannical leaders will do when they think they run our lives. For me it has shaken my belief that elected officials are working for our betterment. I see that without oversight by the people despots will rule. After the worst is done I'm expecting demands of reining in what elected officials can and can not do will be aired. Maybe it's a rumor, but I heard Nancy can't come to Washington because of brain freeze.

Way off in your car accident deaths - closer to 50K/ year - which is around how many US soldiers died in Vietnam over its course... and about the Wuhan flu US deaths to date - probably why she mentioned it. We had breakfast one time when you were running for Pres in Brookfield, WI. You and your wife were very gracious.

I wouldn’t vote for the man for dog catcher. What is wrong with these people that are so controlled by the Democratic Party? Is it demonic? It seems to me that is do.

About 8 months ago a Tennessee hospital went under because the government would not pay bills given care under a government program. With all the money floating around. On the surface I could not think of a more worthy recipient. Also I've seen how hill people in West Virginia do not get good medical access. The one Democrat in West Virginia does not react to President Trump as an evil person

Thank you.

Chuck Schumer pushing a bill to keep Trump's name off the checks. What a waste of the taxpayer's time & resources to try to pass a BILL about that?!?! and what a waste and destructive, vindictive, petty, hateful person he must be! Shows how little he cares about ANYONE in America because he is so filled with unjustified HATE for the President.
