Over the weekend, the powerful movie “Unplanned,” based on the true story of former Planned Parenthood clinic manager Abby Johnson, made it to #5 on the top box office list, with an estimated $6.2 million gross.  That’s more than double the most optimistic estimate, and more than the entire production budget.  Even though it’s on only 1,059 screens nationwide, it made $5770 per screen, more than “Captain Marvel.” It also grossed over a million dollars more than the new animated movie “Wonder Park,” which is on over three times as many screens.  The producers announced that they will add another 600 screens next weekend.

And congratulations, too, to lead actress Ashley Bratcher for a riveting performance that should earn her awards consideration, but will most likely get her blacklisted in Hollywood instead.  (Hollywood only hates blacklists of leftists from the ‘50s; blacklists of conservatives and pro-lifers today are fine.)

If you haven't seen "Unplanned" yet, you can find out more, locate a screening near you and buy tickets at this link:

The fact that it did so well is something of a miracle, considering how desperately Hollywood and liberal media and social media outlets worked to keep Americans from knowing it existed and to discourage them from seeing it. This is a movie that could change hearts and minds about abortion by ripping off the fuzzy, fell-good euphemisms like “reproductive choice” and showing the truth about what it really is, and that terrifies the pro-abortion movement. So they struck back on multiple fronts:

The MPAA slapped it with an unjustified “R” rating (so a 13-year-old girl can get an abortion without her parents even knowing, but she can’t see a movie showing what abortion really is without being accompanied by an adult until she’s 17?)

A number of TV networks refused to sell commercial time to the filmmakers.  They air grisly commercials for horror films, so that’s not it.  They claim they refused because it’s “political,” but some have had no problem with airing pro-Planned Parenthood programming.

https://www.westernjournal.com/ct/tv-networks-launch-disturbing-attack-pro-life-film-attempt-stop-viewers-watching/

Note that at the movie site Rotten Tomatoes, it has only a 53% positive rating from critics, but a 94% positive rating from viewers (some critics, like Owen Gleiberman at Variety, seemed to be more interested in writing pro-abortion op-eds than reviewing the movie – a fact that didn’t go unnoticed in the comments.)  I’m curious: have any of the movie critics smugly telling us this is a biased and inaccurate view of what happens inside a Planned Parenthood clinic spent years running a PP clinic, the way former PP “Employee of the Year” Abby Johnson did?

And then there was Twitter, which blocked the movie just before it opened, then kept mysteriously blocking people from following its site, or removing 99,000 followers who had already signed up.

Naturally, when called on it, Twitter had an excuse that had nothing to do with bias; it was just one of those pesky algorithms that purely by coincidence always seem to block conservative content and never liberal content.

Just ignore the biased reviews and social media assaults.  They’re part of a frantic attempt to keep you from learning the truth about abortion (in that regard, both Planned Parenthood and its media defenders are exactly the same.)  Here are my two simple words of advice:  “See it.”

I also have two words for Twitter:  “Public utility.”

Everyone in America should see this movie. Although I am pro life, I had no idea just how horrific even the early term abortions are. How can anyone say that baby is a blob of tissue. Thanks for letting us know about this film.

I saw "Unplanned" on Friday and found it heart wrenching as well as inspiring. Abby Johnson's courage is astounding. I am a pro-lifer and wanted to know more about the lies that have been told to women about the abortion process. It left me with one big question: what about the fathers? I know that many men would run as far and as fast as possible to abdicate their responsibility. However, I'm sure there are many men that would step up, that want their children if they were given a voice or told about the pregnancy in the first place. I have a son whose girlfriend had 2 abortions because it was inconvenient, since she was in college at the time and she couldn't manage a child and go to school. My son knew about the pregnancy and tried to talk her out of the abortions, but ultimately ended up only being the wallet without a voice. What or how can we help them deal with their feelings from this trauma? My son has dealt with this in counseling over the last 2+ years as this girlfriend, his high school sweetheart and ultimately his wife, decided to divorce him and place all blame on him for the choice she made over 20 years ago.
The men need a louder, larger voice in this. After all it takes two.

    Thank you for listening.

It is a great movie--really impactful about the murder of innocent babies. I am not surprised that the media and PP do not want the public to see it--BUT GOD!! Such a powerful message to all the "pro choice" people--whose choice should be whether or not to have sex! The man AND the baby conceived have NO choice.

I saw the movie "Unplanned" last week at a private showing supporting our Crisis Pregnancy Center here in Greeneville, TN - HOPE CENTER. The local theater had not planned on showing it as yet, but a local church paid the cost to bring it here and the Hope Center received ALL of the tickets receipts as donations. The showing was a sell out and they have arranged for another private showing this coming Friday night. The movie was amazing and I hope parents take their teens to see it to learn the real view of abortion. Everyone that sees this will see the love and forgiveness that is there from our LORD if only they ask for it. Thanks to the producers, actors and backers for giving us such a moving movie.

I pray God makes the way for teenagers and young adults to see this movie on a
huge scale. Has President Trump stopped funding of PP abortions here in the US
as he has done with foreign aid? Will we ever be able to permanently shut PP’s doors for all services. Defunding of federal money to them would be a necessary
step. Since Roe vs Wade how many babies have been the victim of this holocaust,
some 25 to 40 million? This genecide exceeds the numbers murdered by Stalin, Hitler, Mussolini, Pol Pot, Mao Tai Sung, Edi Amin, the Kim regimes, etc. collectively.
I would have wanted this fact to have been mentioned at the end of the movie. This movie showed the most disturbing and grieving reality of the abort
ion industry. Thank you GOV Huckabee for your blogs. A grief stricken Christian over this baby halocaust and the evil PP organization.

This warms my heart! So happy this is doing well. I do not understand how anyone can claim to be a Christian and support this travesty. There are so many stories of women who did support it once upon a time until they/we realized exactly what it was. The brainwashing of the feminists took root and we really believed women should control their own bodies. My awakening came about when I took a young teen to an abortion clinic expecting she would receive counseling. There was no counseling. In hindsight I should have counseled with her but I honestly did not realize it was not happening. I worked in Children's Protective Services and the girl had been placed in her aunt's house from another state. Her aunt wanted her to have the abortion, the social worker who had custody wanted it and the girl agreed to it. I was designated to drive her there.

It was a horrible experience for me and even worse for the poor teenager. She was barely dressed when she emerged and I took her into a restroom to help her adjust her clothing. She felt ill all the way home (4-5 hour drive). I prayed all the way home. God spoke to me through this and revealed His truth to me through His Word. He taught me that this was an abomination to Him. He created life, knit the baby together in the mother's womb. Only He has the right to take that life.

I was serving on the board of the local Planned Parenthood. Our PP did not do abortions at the time but provided birth control and actually provided pap smears and other tests and meds to women. I resigned and never looked back. I had always said I would never have an abortion myself but I defended the right of others to make that choice. That was wrong thinking and rationalization.

I saw the movie on Saturday (30th), and cannot stop feeling the weight of all of this sorrow and death. Especially the image of the ultrasound guided abortion. The magnitude of 1 abortion, much less the numbers that have actually taken place in Planned Parenthood Clinics is horrifically sad.
